You can bushcraft in green swamp, ocala, evergaldes, basically any forest/swamp/park in Florida you can sneak off into the wild & do your thing....plus you are allowed to "disperse" camp in Florida for 14 days in most parks, and 30 days a year in the evergaldes.

I'm in Tampa so I'm most often in the green swamp area.

Hi. Nice to meet you. Great video. "Surviving Mosquitoes" video was me & filmed here in New Hampshire. The info applies to Florida, I would say.

Thank you, that was great advice and tips. Got to admit, It is a little intimidating planning for solo backpacking trips. But thank you for the vids and be safe outdoors.

The far out app makes it easy. Seems like most trail heads will have a designated campsite a mile or 2 in. Of course there are farther sites, but to start may as well be a little closer to the car just in case.

Yes thank you, I’ll check out that app for sure, I moved from Orlando to Jax and it’s a little different over here so this app would help.

First learn to be self manageable for 24 hours. Then 48 hours. Then 72 hours.
You can absolutely do this in your back yard, or simply on your patio. Learn the skills not to go back in your house for this many hours.
You may be surprised on how long it takes to do simple things, like doing dishes after a good meal, or bathing yourself. Simple life skills.
But every simple experience we learn more and get better. Do a whole meal, and clean the dishes, outside. Now a better meal. Try/ experience different methods of bathing. I can fully bath with 2 two leter bottles of water after they sat in the sun for an hour..1 bottle for washing, and one for rincing. But I prefer two use a five gallon bucket with some water added to it from the fire. Say 1 gallon boiled, and 2 gallons warm water. (Just don't get soap in the clean water). These are very simple and effective ways without building stuff or using a solar bag shower (I don't like them...).
I like holes in the caps of a bottle to rinse dishes. I use much less clean water this way.
Of course we can learn alot from those around us. But it is the actual experience of doing it ourselves, that we learn what works best for us, under different circumstances.
So go out to your back yard and bath at 3 p.m. Heat up the water, put on some flip flops, take a full bath, shave, get dressed (go to work/ school). Then cook dinner, and do the dishes. Your neighbors will love you it... ;)

Great video. I’ve never mastered the art of sharpening my knives. You’ll have to give me a lesson one day. 👍😎✌️

Absolutely! It was hard for me to learn which is why I talk about it so much. When we have meet ups I usually touch up a few people's knives.
Side note. Summer is here and I'm itching for a smokies trip for some backpacking and fly fishing. Any plans to return to deep creek?

So, you basically did NOT address WHERE you can bushcraft in florida. Instead you told us to sharpen knives and learn knots in our house, and told us about the florida trail where we can NOT do bushcrafting. Then told us that we dont have to make "forts"...
Well, this told me nothing. And i guess i will still be looking outside of florida...

Is there something specific you are wanting to try/practice? Outside of building shelters, you can literally practice any skill at just about any campsite that is remote. I used the FT because you will most likely be alone at a site. I mentioned the knots and knife sharpening thing because thats entry level stuff and what I see people ignoring the most. Either way, I will be more than happy to be more specific if you have something more specific you are wanting to know.
