Hendricks also hikes up her bust which can help a lot. I feel like most women with high hips have a larger bust than average, (most clothes are designed for a B cup despite the average being a C cup for the past 30-40 years) and wearing a bra that lifts even 1 inch more than usual gives a longer waist line. I ended up learning to sew because clothing manufacturers seem to want to ignore us completely. It’s surprising how many styles I “couldn’t wear” actually looked good once I learned how to change patterns to fit my body. Standard clothing sets the hip line around 8-9 inches below the waist and that doesn’t work when your wides point is 3” below. 😁. I also like being able to control the crotch depth so my pants sit at my waist without giving me a wedgie or high water hemlines! Thank you for a great video!

What shampoo/conditioner products do you use after the perm? What type rods did they use on your second perm? I’m asking because I think your hair turned out super cute! I live in King County and you’re right a lot of places don’t do perms like they did in the 80’s I remember seeing signs on about every salon; perms starting at $19.99. I remember my step mom getting them and she had thin hair mid back length and she’d pay $30.00 back then so I imagine my hair will be expensive as it is really thick not quite to my waist. I may get cut as watching your previous video scared me about the weight of the rods and your neck hurting - I have a bad neck w/ hairline fracture from 30 years ago now I have arthritis there. I have a thin long neck and alway hard to lay my head back in those wash bins at the salon….

I know this is from a couple years ago; I have an appointment in 2 days for a spiral perm… for some reason I thought they did long foam rods. The rods they used on you are the ones I remember my step mom getting in the 80’s and I remember the stinky smell. But I was told they’ve come out with better products for your hair that don’t stink. I am nervous now as my hair is longer thicker than yours and I have a bad neck that has a hairline fracture from years ago …have had neck and shoulder problems since. I’m glad you shared this video as I may back out because my hair gets heavy when it’s wet and takes forever to dry.

Thank you for the video, I don't see a lot of people talking about this particular shape combination, and the fitting accommodations it needs. I've also come to the conclusion that the reason why so many clothes don't work for me is because of a high-wide hip bone that's sitting very close to the ribcage, and results in having a wide waist, regardless of weight. For years I kept thinking that it was because of weight that I couldn't wear the styles I liked, but I'm finally realizing that it has nothing to do with size, and whether I'm at a normal weight or overweight it doesn't affect the particular fit issues I'm having. The biggest offenders are separates, like skirts and trousers, and the problem is two-fold: 1) the size that fits my hips is too small for my waist, and even if I size up, or even if the waist fits because of, say, an elastic band, the fabric basically juts out at the hipbone, creating an unflattering tent-like effect, 2) the proportions are off, because the narrowest point of my waist is right under my chest and then almost immediately goes from ribcage to hips, even those high waisted trousers that can deal with the long rise and sit without falling off, create a unbalanced proportion of looking like going from boobs->legs (like the example you've shown in the video). It's *really* hard finding separates that work, and I even had the same problem with dresses (especially the jutting out tent shape). The styles that I've found work the best are: dresses with an empire waist (because they are narrower right beneath the chest and then flare out from there), and certain high waist trousers with an elastic panel at the belly area (because I can get away with my usualy size and not having to size up and then tailor). A lot of clothes can give us a rectangular and wider shape, and finding things that work is A Process...

So you're probably a Dark Winter ❄ Dark winters look good with silver and gold. Both metals should be neither too warm nor too cool, as you have more of a neutral undertone. Lily Collins has a fair skin and an olive undertone and was classified by most as Dark Winter - in case you need a style or makeup role model ...

One word: mauve (Okay, a few more 😅: a cool mauve is one of the most flattering colours for people with an olive skin (eyeshadow, lipstick etc.) I had a similar experience to you. Of all things, a light, delicate pink is my neutral eyeshadow color! It has become completely one with my eyelid. I would never have thought of it if I hadn't just tried out all the colors I have.)

you are the first person i've found on UA-cam in about 6-7 years of watching beauty content who actually has similar colouring as me. to be honest i didn't think i'd ever find someone with similar colouring as me. i have a few "fair cool" and "fair olive" folks i follow but after trying many of their recommendations and finding their cool tones coming up orange/peach on me, i'd pretty much given up. i've also given up on palettes. i've come to the conclusion that the beauty industry, including reviewers and influencers, don't actually understand what "cool" means. i feel like "cool" has become the "new" (as if cool didn't always exist) buzzword, a trend in makeup spaces that just means "not orange or yellow." anything green, blue, or violet gets thrown in, without the understanding that any and all of those can be warm, and 99.9% of the time they are warm because there seems to be a deep fear of blue- and grey-based makeup. i snorted with laughter when i saw Sigma's "cool neutrals" palette. i don't understand what's going on. additionally, even when there are palettes that have colours i can wear, they make up less than half of the palette, and i can't justify buying an entire palette unless i can wear all of the colours, but that's just me personally. these are the colours i can wear on my face: cheek colour has to be a light, muted, blue-based mauve. this is literally the only blush colour i can wear that does not make me look like rust. on my eyes, light- to light-medium blue- based violets, violet-based pastel blues, and blue-based pastel greens (think more sage or mint, not teal), and greys based on any of these. the only browns i can wear have so much grey and violet in them, they do not swatch brown on most folks. my lips, which appear light at first glance, actually have a deep purple undercurrent, and the only colours that look right on me are muted blue-based plums and mauves, which are extremely hard to find. This is the only area of my face where i actually need a medium-to-dark colour to balance out the undertone of my lips. light lip colours wash me out though i do like a light lip colour with a dark liner. the only palette i've found that is both cool and muted enough for me is rom&nd's Better Than palette in Odd Breeze Garden. strangely, it's a predominantly pink palette, but every single shade in that palette is dusty - dusty as in muted and grey, not as in brown. most of the colours are fairly light which is an added bonus for me. apart from that i've gone the eyeshadow single journey from companies like Sydney Grace, Devinah, and Lethal Cosmetics. Sydney Grace colours that I have and that suit me are Concrete Road, Regal, Perfect Storm, Cali, Snow Queen, and Parallax Light. Devinah colours that suit me are Esme, London Fog (an absolutely gorgeous pastel grey-green), Ethereal, Frisson and Gaia. Lethal Cosmetics makes a lovely pastel periwinkle called Altitude that i'm obsessed with. For the most part i consider my collection complete, but i'm still on the lookout for one more green and i think i may have found it in Emme Cosmetics, in the shade Aqua, though of course i won't know until i try. The absolute best icy blue-leaning pastel mint comes from Watier, the Canadian brand, in the form of their Eye Shine eye pencil in the shade Aqua (they're available on Sephora, at least in Canada). I sadly took the advice of many a beauty influencer after watching the swatches of literally dozens of people on many different skin tones and bought the Colourpop Stone Cold Fox palette. I was able to wear and therefore salvage three of those 30 shades, but i didn't record the names so i'm not sure what they are - it was the medium muted blue-based grey matte, the light grey-based taupe matte, and the white matte with white sparkles suspended in it.

Your hair is so beautiful! This is the exact perm I want and I'm so glad I stumbled across this video. I do have a few questions though. Did you get your bangs cut after you had the 1st perm? Should I get mine layered and cut before I do my perm or should I wait til after? I figure maybe it's best to just wait and get the perm done first then go get it cut since the hairstylist can actually be able to see it and go from there

This shape is called the spoon/violin figure 8 I have this shape it’s close to being a pear shape but not the same due to how high hip it’s hard to dress I found that an A line skirt are perfect for spoon shapes and boot cut jeans also look great thanks for talking about this shape there aren’t many videos on this!

Nobody talks about high hips. They look fine (OK at least) from the front but awful from the back. The only time I've felt ok about them is when I was at my lowest bmi around 19...

thank you for this video. You described the exact issues I have with clothing. I have been busting my brain trying to find something I could look good in. I never understood why I looked so curvy naked but in clothes I look 20 pounds heavier and boxy. I miss the 80s where jeans had a MUCH higher rise, I used to live in Rockies and crop tops as a teen.

The box was a bit of a miss, but it was still fun to watch. I have a slightly darker skin tone and a lot of those shades are not for me either, but really liked the lilac you a lot palette, very pretty! 😁✨💟✨

I’ve wasted so much money trying to find a neutral eyeshadow that doesn’t look yellow and puffy. Not to say that all Asian eyeshadow suits me, but I definitely had a better time finding a perfect neutral palette from them. Turns out I need reds and purples, or something without yellow. Examples are Mac Royal Rendezvous, Addiction Tokyo’s Bad Promise, Dasique beige knit, the cool/ red tones in the nyx warm neutrals palette

Love the bangs! Your hair would look perfect if you permed the top and back and sides but left the bangs unpermed and straight - similar to Zooey Deschanel, but shorter and with tighter curls! You'd look so good!
