  • The way we talk about makeup is seriously confusing! ESPECIALLY foundations and other products that are meant to blend into the skin. It took me forever to make sense of it all, which is pretty important if you have a an undertone that isn't super common or catered to by the current beauty industry. Now I generally mix my own foundation and it's easy once you get the principles. So let's break it down!
    On me:
Eyeshadow: from Gucci Eyeshadow Palette 01
cheeks: MAC glow play blush in Rosy Does it
Lips: Flower Beauty Chill Out Soothing Lip Glaze in Dreamy

As someone who has light worm olive skin I freeking LOVE this video!! Nobody talks about these things and I can never get color matched properly! I really need you to make more videos on brands that cater to light olive skin tones because it’s as if we don’t exist and I’m so sick of wasting my money on foundation that is always off. The frustration is real.

You may enjoy the foundation shade “Macadamia” by No.7 😊 although it’s on the more muted side.

To be fair, red yellow and blue are the primary colors used in physical art, ie painting. This isn't a clear cut rule, as there are cool toned reds and warm blues and cool yellows and the secondary colors they can produce can be either muted or bright greens, purples or oranges.

I love how you approached this subject! I love color theory, and as an olive, it does get super complex for us because makeup companies don't really make a lot of products with us in mind! I am a medium to light cool olive, not muted but also not bright (true or cool winter in many color systems), so everything I tried that was for olive skin was just tan. Like medium tan color but very warm. Glad that I can find videos like yours!

Very interesting information I’ve never heard on such a complicated topic. I have very similar coloring which is why I started following you! 😂 I use the Korean BB cream Missha in #27 which has a slight green cast. Their lighter foundations have a grey cast which I also see in my skin but they are too light for me. I’m looking forward to the makeup recommendations. 🌺

I was really struggling to understand undertone v overtone but now I do, thank you! Neutral being relative was the final piece of the puzzle (how could I be "cool" but still "warm" - because we aren't literally grey 🤦🏻).
Surprised you are muted though when you suit the clear bright colours so well!

Yeah, it took me a long time to figure out that I’m muted because my style is generally very bright and so is my make up, but when I started looking at the actual foundations and blushes that suit my skin, it kind of fell into place. Especially with bright pink blush trending, every time I tried it it looked really bad on me, the fact that the bright colors stand out really strongly against my skin kind of indicates that. My personal style is very loud and vibrant so the bright colors go with that, and especially because the way I do my make up is to intentionally make the make up stand out really strongly. If I’m trying to do a natural look I have to lean hard into muted colors

ahhhh thank you! I'm getting better at learning to care for them so it makes me happy to hear that. Such a different hair routine!

It took me SO long to realize that I needed to know my undertone to adequately choose makeup! Now it's so much easier knowing I'm a neutral leaning towards cool. Mostly get my powder and lipstick right, which was so hard before.
But yeah, tried a new brand and bought a "neutral" powder, had to return it because it was VERY orange! Nope. 😂

    • @LexiLadonna
      @LexiLadonna  Рік тому +1

Neutral means almost nothing to me now LOL. And yeah, it's totally amazing how much easier it is to pick out makeup colors once I finally put all the pieces together!! Isn't it so much easier to be able to quickly hone in on the colors in the right ballpark when you're looking at a 20 color lipstick line?

    •  Рік тому +1

@@LexiLadonna Yes! I have bought so many lipsticks that look awful on me. 😅
