USPS 30 year veteran starting in Brooklyn but from the Bronx!
Just looking for the holidays Mail handler inside work
Been at my station for four months...overall it's a Shit Show, but that's literally every station(from.what I was told from veterans) The manager and Supervisors OK at best, they do what they can as long you communicate. I'm determine to see this through CCA hanging in there from MD 😅
Any advice for clerks?
Where are you Mike Chong?
Imma be honest since no postal workers are on the videos, if you want a family don’t work at usps, why I said that the first thing is there is no days off permanent or weekends off are a crime 😂 too much time invested and is not fair
These 30+yr old trucks almost killed me on my 30th day…it’s been hell ever since
My problem is my back. The long park n loops everyday and carrying everything makes my back problems worse by the end of the day. I'm hungry but Idk how much my body can take.
It’s now election season and we have to endorse every single mail that’s not deliverable as well, more time.
I was Amazon delivery driver , is it worst than that ? I don’t think so .
CCA guy stealing time 😂😂😂
Great advice 👍
I start orientation in a couple weeks, everyones quiting because of how long they have to walk and lift boxes. I worked 16 years at a warehouse this job will be cake lol
I keep getting wrote up for unsatisfactory work and unauthorized use of overtime but I still haven't quit
I went into this six weeks ago, tested, applied, and now I'm in the carrier academy. The most difficult aspect seems to be casing and getting out to the LLV/Pro Master and on the road. The back end (all the perks) seem way worth it.
Did they drug test you?
I just went thru it. It was a 1 day pass or fail but they say no one fails. I did it in LA in an area with lots of big rigs and skinny streets so it was a bit stressful.
Hi Mike.. are you on IG? I would love to keep contact to get your support... i start next week
So can I buy back national guard years of service?
Hey does usps hire aggravated assault felons?
With all due respect my guy, they are better jobs than the USPS that pays well with benefits that allow time spent with your family. I know this video is meant as encouragement but it's really depressing to even think that the USPS is the best job one can have.
@rodb66 I never said it's the best job that one can have, but it is a better job than some. I work within this community, so what I speak on is strictly that. Nothing more, nothing less. I appreciate your comment though.
If someone can find a job that have decent pay, benefits and decent hours, why should they keep working in the toxic environment of the USPS. The job only pay partly decent pay with plenty of overtime that they can cut out at in the drop of a dime. I've been with the USPS for over 4 years and a Mail Handler for over 3 when I made regular. I never had so much anxiety on a job in my 42 years of working than with the USPS.
@rodb66 Honestly, I understand what you're saying. I never promised a rose garden but it is a pretty lax job if you're in the right area. If you're in a high volume area, you're going to live a busy USPS life. I have friends that get worked a lot. Use your transfer ability to go where is the most beneficial for you. Stress reaches us all in different ways. Personally, I have a high threshold for stress and I can handle it pretty well.
They fired a guy at my station on his 88 the day for being too slow
@aaronmorber1943 that is horrible. Within your 90 days is crucial.
@@CalUsviFlemail me bro. Its Jay h.. miss u man
Will they fire you if your too slow
If you're withing 90 days yup
Thank you for this video
I just applied last week and it’s in the background check process I hope I get hired I just retired the Army and need a job.
pls explain the $200 increase in your paycheck...were u clocking out for lunch & breaks???
Good job, Mike Appreciate all the information I filled out the app and took the test and waiting to hear back if I get hired Anyway, I’m 68 years old in great condition. I study martial arts for many years. What are my chances of getting hired by the post office? Thank you very much Keep up the good work Michael
You are not boring! I appreciate the chill vibe and the clear speech!
This is the most encouraging video I’ve seen about this position.
Yeah those youngsters are smart if they can stay and work . By the time they’re 50 and been putting the 5% off the bat they will be set !
I've been working at USPS for 20 years. My friend from Domino's was suppose to join me. I was the one convincing her to take the postal exam. So she got the interview first after almost 2 years on the waiting list and she told me she didn't take the job because it's a part-time job and she wanted a full time one. I told her I work over 40 hours every week. The problem with people now is that they quit when it gets hard and doesn't look farther ahead. My first week was so hard that every bone in my body hurts and even places where I didn't know there was one hurts too. Just like everything in life things get easier the more you work at it. 20 years later I got all the benefits and more then 5 week vacation a year. I got one of the best routes in the office and have to walk really slow just so that I don't come back early. I have seen carriers change when they are converted to regular or ptf. Do they even have ptf anymore? After you're converted to career employees you get to relax more and the union can protect you more. Before I used to think what am I'm going to do if I get fired but since working for the USPS I haven't thought of that at all. I get a paycheck twice every month. They can't fire me if they wanted to. It takes something extraordinarily stupid to get you fired. I had a co-worker who's always drunk at work for more than a decade before he got fired. Maybe longer because he was there before me. The bottom line is that USPS is not perfect but what is? It may seem hard now but once you're a career employee you'll see the rewards. No more going to other offices, You get to choose if you want OT or not. You can just do your route and leave instead of carrying extra. You get more vacation, sick leave and the best of all "peace of mind".
Can I get fired for calling out if I'm just genuinely exhausted? I'm diabetic and my supervisor consistently puts me in a route that's over by 2 hours and dealing with her is mentally exhausting. If I'm burnt out I'm going to call out...
Hi i am just seeing this and i start Monday but i made nees to contact you lol.. Thanks for everything
Nowadays people are lazy I rather work a lot and not live paycheck to paycheck and support my family
I find it funny if they're really trying to get you to quit (this is counting the repeated new hires). It seems they just like going through new hires like water and when it gets the point where they can't get new hires, they're basically shooting themselves in the foot as far as staff then the already existing carriers get the short end of the deal. I would imagine a post office would try to work with their employees so it runs smooth with enough staff. My local post office (town of 5,000 population) is having a career fair and it's including RCA positions. But of all the usps videos that say bad stuff seem to be folks who live near a big city or live in a big city. I believe smaller population office would be MUCH different based on different management because it's not overly hectic with mail load. But your words are right, hang in there but if it truly isn't for you then at least you can say you tried it. I still believe it's based on the population surrounding that post office that affects the stress and etc.
To be considered for employment, do you have to take a test( called 3 numbers)?
Whoops i keep forgetting to clock over to street before loading my packages.
I start orientation next week I'm really nervous but excited .Any advice for me on my first official day after training I'm 36 yrs old am I too late ? DEFINITELY EAGER AND EXCITED THO
Damb 57 is old u cant even move anymore being rich at a retirement home 😂😂waste of time
Cause its easier to make u quit then firings them so they can just recycle the cca
I know this is old but thank you for this insight and knowledge
Rural carriers with TRUE rural routes can case everything and work out of one tub... You can concentrate more on your driving ...and you'll use less gas.
Smaller offices are less demanding, therefore less hours. Some even have great postmasters.
Hey Mike, what do you do to keep your shoes from getting wet from the rain? Especially prevent rain from getting inside your shoes? Thank you.
Post office will not hire a felon. Stop it.
That's true, the post office will not hire a felon, the post office does a thorough background check on anyone they hire
They actually do hire felons. Even if they have been to jail before. I've seen it happen.
I just passed my 120 today. Wasn't scheduled enough to hit my 90 first. Biggest problem I'm still having besides speed is everything involving the vacant and vacation holds and keeping track of them on routes. Definitely consider making a video about all that stuff. Can't find anything online that goes into detail about it
You should pay union dues regardless. It's because of them CCA and regulars get the benefits that they do. Like holidays off or annual leave. I don't know how it goes in your office but if you're not having problems chances are you are a yes man whether you pick up the phone or not on your day off.
This job made me physically and mentally ill. The office was a cesspool of negativity and toxicity. Only lasted two months before calling it quits. The money is just not good enough for the level of bullshit carriers have to go through
Hi Mike, after 90 days probation cca 360days, is it guarantee that you will get rehired? as cca again then 2yrs ptf? because for real man I cant afford not to have a job right now
Did you serve 9 years active duty? Or some reserve?
Hey, I have a pretty urgent question about my 90 day probation (ends april 3rd) they told me I had a transfer (march23rd) and that everything was good but then they hit me with the emergency placement which is a temporary suspension that they did not tell me about I have no verbal warnings no written warnings and I’m concerned. What do you think? I told my union Stewart I’m waiting for him to respond. But what do u think?
