I did exactly what You suggested and went on the USPS and researched "buy back" "military" and you have to buy it back in 2 years time not 3 years. Found a lot of information on benefits too! Thank You
Hi, Mike You did a great job explaining the military benefits such Veterans Preference. Remember also Mike that you Veterans Preference helps during a reduction of force. You’re coworkers will be released before you will. Thanks for this information!
@@CalUsviFl Sir... Can you do a video on disabled veterans who are service connected who work for the post office ? Do they receive any type of lenience for Medical Appointments with the VA...etc...etc. ?
Thanks Mike. Also 104 hours of wounded warriors leave for those rated 30% or more. Please re.do a video with more info. Such Wounded warriors leave. Sick leave in advance pay increase in advance etc etc etc
Paid my time from Military back to add to my postal time. Sooner you start paying it back the less interest added. Also, being disabled veteran got 10 points extra on test so I ended up with 110% lol. Jesus ❤️✝️❤️ for Postmaster because He cares for hard working postal carriers.
I just started Dec 13th, 2021. I was applying back in late October but wasn’t getting any communication. Turned out there was a glitch and I had to reapply to new CCA positions. The day after applying to my first posting I got an email. As long as you include your veteran status and information in your biography on the website it should help. Also, depending on the region will determine how fast you get an offer. I’m in north Los Angeles county.
how do you deal with the transition in terms of not having your DD-214 yet? Can you get any administrative paperwork ahead of time so you can apply before you leave the military
Did you have any active duty time as a reservist that you received a DD214? That would count. I had 6 years 4 months active Marines and Army. I did 11 months as an Army Reservist also. During my reservist time I had 4 months active and was able to buy that time back.
So you can buy time as a non career person or whatever they call new hires? Do you have a estimate of what 3, 5 or 10 years will cost? I heard a guy say he paid just over over 3K for 6 years. If that's range, I would pay cash for it because I also heard that you get the money back if you don't retire or leave the post office. So, if you work 2 years before becoming career, those years don't count towards retirement?
You can't buy time as a non career cca and the 2 years as of now do not count toward retirement BUT it doesn't mean that future contracts won't try and fight for that. For 6 years at 3k sounds about right but you get a certain amount of time once you become career to buy back your time without interest.
I got a question, I've been trying to get into the post office and on the section of veterans preference it says if you claim the 5 point you need to insert your dd214. I did and I got an email saying I don't qualify for the 5 points even tho I did almost 4 years of active duty and was discharged honorable. any help ?
Question Mr Mike, When I start working for the USPS worst case scenario made Career at the two year mark. Let's say by default I start at the (A) Basic annual salaries. When I submit my military time. If I had seven years in the military and I am buying back my military time, Once all the paper work goes through the system and it has been acknowledge. Will this automatically move me from the (A) Basic Annual Salaries to the (G) Basic Annual Salaries part of the chart?
On the case in the office if you look at the bottom left corner that's the address that you start your route. Also, if you go into the binder for the route there will be a map with the starting point as well as there will be a paper that says the starting address. All else fails if you're a cca or rca then just asking another carrier or the supervisor will work.
Question Mike if I have 25 yrs in the military and I decide to buy back my time does that mean After I finish paying USPS I will have 25 yrs of svc with the USPS? Even tho I didn’t svc that time with USPS
Hey Mike, quick question for you. I start on the 15th for orientation and have some time before I can do the military buy back but I do have for years in the military under my belt, what roughly would that cost? I know it would be a guesstimate and thats fine Thank you
It’s been hectic for me lately. Just got hired two weeks ago. Did the orientation and vehicle certifications. Did my shadow day yesterday and have carrier academy on Monday, Jan 3rd, 2022. Was wondering if at any point when you get recognition for your military service time if it will applied towards pay increases? For example, if MailmanMike gets time towards retirement and retires after 21 years at the USPS plus his 9 years of active duty, for a total of 30 years of federal employment, he’ll retire at a lower wage than another employee that worked at the USPS for 30 years.

Very nice, some of that information they like to modify and change sometimes.
It's 3 years actually.

Did you make more having time in military? I've heard this but can't find a exact answer
So can I buy back national guard years of service?
If you want the 10 Point, do yourself a favor and have your DD214 and your VA letters scanned on your computer and ready to go. 👌
Very true, have them ready to go
Did you serve 9 years active duty? Or some reserve?
Question if tou don't buy it back but can you still contribute to the same tsp?

Somebody told me my 13 years in the guard would somehow be added to my seniority and pay once I'm officially hired in. Is this true?
How much was your starting salary
How many years can you buy!? I had 4 active and 4 reserve.
how do you deal with the transition in terms of not having your DD-214 yet? Can you get any administrative paperwork ahead of time so you can apply before you leave the military
Usps hires everyone who apply, with no record
I have 8 years active Army and 6 years Air Force Reserves. Does any of the Reserve years count towards retirement?

@@mykee9121 did you get a DD214 for your BMT and tech school? My active time during my reserve time was for AIT and it counted for buyback.

What’s usually the starting salary or rank when a vet is a new hire
Hi Mike
I have a question I received the form 50 but I haven’t been to orientation yet. Is that normal?
What did the firm 50 say?

I’ve talked to my local post offices. They don’t use veterans preference here. No reason as to why. They just said they don’t use it
Army vet here 🇺🇸☺️ question though I know RCA ‘s don’t have a uniform so is there a website that I can at least purchase a shirt from?
Thank you for your service. There's a bunch of websites that you can go to. You can also go to your union hall and get brand new uniforms sometimes.

Thanks for this video. You have so many years in the military, doesn't the USPS give you a bigger pension when you retire?
Thank you for watching. They don't give you a bigger pension but your military years can go towards your retirement.

What about General under Honorable
We still hire general under honorable conditions
@Chávez Sims you talking about the buyback? General under honorable is good for the military buyback.
Hey Mike how long did it take you to get hired as a veteran ?
From applying to hire, about 3 weeks.
How does Military buy back effect a veterans disability???
It shouldn't.
