I got bit by a customers dog once b4. I told her to keep her damn husband on a leash n make sure she finds out if he works the full day b4 she invites me in for a drink!!
I'm a CCA in Wisconsin and one of the houses I do on my route has a wild Rottweiler loose on the yard. 2 weeks I almost got biten by him. I scream at him so loud that he run away. I later told my supervisor about it. And this morning I was driving on my LLV and pass that house, the dog ran toward and attack the truck. I went "WTF?!" And I finally saw the owner of the dog and it's a old lady. I reported that to my supervisor and they're going see what to do. Sorry for the long story. Thanks Mailman Mike you have been very helpful.
I got bit by a pit Bull on my leg. I was listening to music on my route. And bOOM! Sued the customer ... I love dogs but I’m very careful now when I deliver mail.
WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! Ggrrrowl! "My Dog Won't Bite". "Don't Spray My Dog!" Our Postmaster instructed us to -If dog is out. Skip the house. Also If there's a big dog (Pitbull) is roaming on the street, than don't deliver the entire block. It's better to be safe, than sorry. Do you think that every Letter Carrier has been bitten at least once during there time in the USPS? Thanks for the info and I'm glad that you weren't killed after your dog attack. Be Safe!
You must work in a good area man. Cause imma tell you now. The route I’m about to be stuck on I call it Death Valley. With the amount of stray pits that will bull rush you and will bite. Violent ass dogs. It’s pretty nerve wracking trying to focus on the mail but gotta focus on if a huge stray pit is around. They are everywhere. Even chased me today on Amazon Sunday just driving by. I skip chunks of streets to cause of it.
Mike it sounds like you don’t deliver in the hood lol. Over here in SoCal seems like every other house has a pit Bull or a Rottweiler and half of the owners always claim they’re friendly but no man It’s never like that out here.
Hey Mike! I was wondering how you keep those uniform shirts so fresh? I washed mine and I still see marks from the strap and on the pockets. I’d love to see a video on this topic or a referral to someone else’s vid talking about this. Thank you!
That's a great question and surprisingly you are not the only one that asks me that. I really dont do anything special except I'll use a seatbelt cover that's not dirty and i'll be careful not to hold anything close to the front of my shirt, i'll use my shoulder or waist but never my chest. I'll make a video about this soon.
I saw a regular get bit and the dog wasn't up to date on its rabies shot. The owner was not only fined by police but had to pay for the carries medical bills and lose of pay. So he had to get the rounds of rabies vacation. Sometimes you can be as vigilant as you want. But if that dogs off it's leash and wants to gun for you. You will not out run it.
@@CalUsviFl here's a video idea for you. What do you do about the CCA that runs routes and clears 8 hour routes in 5 to 6 hours and then managment expect all the CCA'S to be as fast as him. This is absolutely infuriating. I've had customers on routes say that this individual looks dumb running on routes or I've had customers say I'm lazy for not running and getting them there mail sooner. We've tried talking to this person and asked him to please stop and slow down but they refuse to listen.
@@HarambetheWhite Nobody wants to run,I am a new CCA I have to run because the supervisor always told me this route should be done in 6 hours, and that route should be done before 4:00pm.It’s impossible to finish the delivery if you don’t run.
@@emilystack7195 your superior is lying to you. If the route is timed for 8 hours you have 8 hours period. Running can get you let go if your in your 90 days. If you get hurt doing so, then you will be fired. It's not impossible to finish the route without running. Once you know the route and know what your doing you will get faster. Thankfully I'm 10 months into the job so that 90 days is no longer an issue.
I love my customers that chain theircdogs to the box...."why wont you deliver my mail?" Ma'am your dog is chained to the box...."he wont bite you"....does he have teeth? "Well yeah"....then he fucking bites!...my first dog bite was a nip by a lopsa opsa....next dog that tried to get me was another ankle biter but i kicked it across the bushes...i had to spray a pit...and yesterday on amazon a german shepard tried to get me....ruined my satchel
Hey mike! Ive been a subscriber for a while now. And ive been a CCA for 3 months now, And i just want to ask how will i apply for CCA's non career benefits. If thats what you call em. I wasnt so sure thats why. Godspeed!
Easiest way is to call HR, you can also get with your union rep and in all actuality your supervisor should help you with that. All else fails come back and ask me and I'll get it done for you.
I like dogs, I never thought dogs were a problem before, but some carriers in my office told me they were bitten by a dog.A new CCA was bitten by a dog in her first week, and then she quit. Now I am very careful to avoid being bitten by dogs.
I like dogs too and I'm never scared of any even if it's barking at me aggressively but I'll never let down my guard especially on the little dogs lol. That's unfortunate for them but it comes with the territory. I have a guy in my office that carries dog treats with him.
I've only been bitten once thru a door slot. Dogs don't usually attack people viciously in my experience. In the more ghetto areas I'm a little more cautious though.
I was told never put your fingers in the door slot, dogs and cats may hurt you, some dogs wait and jump to eat the mails at the moment you open the slot.

I agree, be safe then sorry. I think a lot have had their encounters with dogs but bitten by a dog over a career might be hard to dodge.
I just hate that supervisors try to give me more pivots because i leave the office almost everyday before 9:30 as a cca and gone before the regulars.
Yeah, I use to hate that same thing. Being rewarded with more work...

I can only imagine where you're at in SoCal, lol I do not deliver in the hood.
LOL route I was on was like that. Not necessarily hood, but bordering a bad area. There were lots of big dogs and fences that weren't tall enough.

I like your videos cca Nick but you being a White person using the word “ghetto” to describe something bad sounds very racist.

Oh no, glad you were lucky.
I guess sadly Mike isn't working with usps anymore haven't seen any new videos, I guess I'll have to unsubscribe
