Join Chrissy and Rob from Fly Me to The Philippines for a 5 episode story of the Philippines. Meet Glenn and Ruby, a couple with a 24 year age gap. Glenn first traveled to the Philippines at the age of 7 to join his father who worked as a Dentist for the U.S. Air Force at Clark Air Force Bas in Angeles City, Luzon Philippines. He lived like a typical Filipino boy for 3 years before returning to the United States for schooling and College at BYU.
A love of the water led him to create a company for high end competitive white water rafting and he brought his technology and award winning boats to the Philippines and developed the Cagayan de Oro White Water rafting industry and reputation for being the leader in white water rafting excursions in the Philippines and on Mindanao.
Traveling to China, Fiji, Australia and other exotic Asian destinations for business Glenn found his way to the Philippines in 2002 and started dating Filipinas. It didn't go so well at first, as he met some dishonest and untrustworthy Filipinas. The Filipino people however were as happy and pleasant as he remembered in his your. On his third attempt to find a Filipina Glenn met Ruby and a 24 year age gap love story ensued.
In this series we will learn about Glenn and Ruby's experiences in the Philippines, in Manila, Cebu City, Siarago, Palawan, Caron, Cagayan de Oro and living on the boat, a Luguna 44. Buying and selling Real Estate, new homes and lots, building homes both with natural materials and in gated subdivisions. Learn their lessons on Real Estate Investing, living in the Philippines, living on a Boat, surviving a Typhoon, and homesteading at 3200 feet of elevation a natural sustainable life. In addition learn about their experience raising children, private school, Filipino Family and recently with the health care system as Glenn share a recent health experience. With 22 years living in the Philippines married to Ruby, Glen and Ruby have more experience than most Expats and they share their lesson learned in sailing, housing, education, healthcare, developing land, and especially love, in an age gap relationship of 24 years, loving each other for the last 18 years - 8 of which they spent 6 months a year in the United States,.
Chrissy interviews Ruby in Episode 4, hear her thoughts about living in the US. Stay Tuned. A new Episode next week.

Another gem Rob! I like to say no one escapes this life unscathed. We all get our asses handed to us in one way shape, form, or another. For myself, I only know how to learn two ways: kicking and screaming and the hard way. You don't have to get up 10 times, just the next time. Appreciate the passion, care, and amazing insights. One month out to the PH!

I found this interview/video fascinating and riveting. I was born in New Orleans in 1968 and experienced many hurricanes on land. I started working on the Mississippi River and inland waterways in 1986 and became a licensed captain in 1989. Dealing with hurricanes on ‘protected’ waters on steel towing vessels ranging from 72 feet to 195 feet is scary and no fun. Glenn and Ruby’s recount of that experience brought back many of my own memories. What a story! And… being out of communication with loved ones for a few hours under those circumstances is brutal… 3 days must have felt like a lifetime. Looking forward to the next chapter of this story.

As a long-distance sailor and pilot, I really appreciate Glenn's knowledge and good judgement. I've known of "hurricane holes" but this story was on a whole new level. As a Westerner looking to find the right Filipina, I really appreciate the obvious love that Glenn and Ruby share through their looks to each other. It took both their robust characters to build such a relationship. Rob and Chrissy did a great job bringing out the full story. Fabulous video!

All I can say is "OMG". my heart was pounding listening to this intense story. I was in the navy back in the 70's and going through the Mediterranean Sea during a huge storm and experienced some nasty weather with waves over 100 feet. I was on a carrier at the time and even our ship was tossed around like a toy ship. It was intense, but exciting at the same time. No one can control the weather and what they described was actually horrifying at the time. I've seen many photos of the devastation Odette left the Philippines in and how long it took to recover. My heart goes out to this couple in braving this terror. What they did for the people afterwards warms my heart showing just how kind the Philippine people are. I am so glad I am coming to live with these people in a month. They need to contact an agent in making a movie about their lives and the nightmare they lived through. I'd definitely buy a ticket to watch it.

As a sailor, I felt the story literally on my skin. People DO NOT KNOW the power of the sea until they are within it. You are helpless, and when you see a massive ship being tossed around like a tomato in a salad bowl, you quickly learn who is in charge. Praise God for their survival.

are you safe in the philippines is the wrong question to ask in the first place the real question you should be asking are you safe in your own country. so how safe is it in your country compare to the philippines then see which country is safer to live in. i bet you will find out that its lot less safer in your own country then in the philippines. so just asking are you safe in the philippines is a joke to be asking. in the first place you need to ask your safe what is safe any ways just think on that one for a second you may see what i am talking about then.

Hi Chrissy, That was a great interview, and it is a brilliant idea, that you & Rob broke it up, into “segments.” I hope you’ll respond to a couple of points, I’d like to ask you. Just about “every” foreigner with a great Filipina comments, that from the very beginning, when their gf buys something, she’d give them the change. Ruby commented that when she goes to pay a bill, or buy something, “don’t ask me about money/the change”, or something like that? Your thoughts on her maybe, being a bit defensive? And now, the real question. “You” said in one of “your” videos, that you’d “want” a man to talk to other women, to compare them to you, so that if he “chooses you”, he’ll be more likely to love & stay with you, or something to that effect, or reason. I really “loved & respected” that about you, so much. It showed a tremendous amount of maturity on your part. Ruby made it very clear, that she didn’t want to even talk to a man, that’s talking to other women. I think I’ll have a problem with that. I’m a good & honest man, and would will want to be honest about letting her know, I’m talking to possibly, a couple other women. It’s only fair, and reasonable. Since Filipina so many Filipina women are seeking relationships with foreigners, we “know”, they are more than likely, talking to several foreigners, as well. So, do you “still” feel we “should” be talking to more than one woman, before entering into a serious relationship? Thank you Chrissy, please respond, say hi to “Regis/Rob”, and you guys, keep the great blogs coming, 😎😉🙏🏼❤️.

I want to buy a return ticket for March. So does it matter if i do not have a extension yet , but have a ticket returning in three months when i land.................... Thank You. PS. Amazing story! Great example of some controversial views on what to do and how it went. Nice to hear that all the struggle is behind and now they enjoy life. Reminds me a movie " The bucket list". Thank you for the great interview.

Great relationship. Single mom, still married can work. BUT, that still doesn't make it a wise choice. Just because Ruby may have been marked off his list doesn't mean he wouldn't have met a great single no kids Filipina. I think many guys hear stories like this and think they will have the same luck.
