You need to hear the Meridian system in the Gen1 R1T. It's an awesome system. Way, way better than the in-house Standard or Premium system and I've heard all three. Better than the Levinson system in my Lexus, the Harmon Kardon in my BMW and Bang and Olufson in my previous Audi. Not as good as the Bowers and Wilkins systems I've heard in high end Volvos. The Rivian in house system is trash and your D tier lines up.

I have the “auto sound leveling” off, but I swear some of my songs play louder than others. I’ll play a song and have the volume on 50 and it barely bangs, but then the next song comes on and it’s louder. All music from Apple Music, non of it it’s like downloaded or whatever, what’s going on?

love this rumbling low-end bass:) a little bit too much, maybe it's because of the binaural mic. Also sounded boxy in the back. The clarity and the mid-range sounds balanced overall in the front. I also heard some good stereo separation.

I have the 2025 N and the sound system is very mid. Bass is very weak. But I dont really listen to music... just want to hear the exhaust 😅

How would you compare this to the Mazda 3 Bose system?

For the price comparison, an iX 50 with a B&W system is 100k. X3 with HK is 60k. A well optioned X5 50e with HK system is 85k. No B&W system available for X3 or X5 in 2025.

So glad you finally had a chance to review the Rivian systems. I have an early Rivian w/ the Meridian system and I love it. It's the best system I have ever owned (although still not as good as the Volvo B&W). I've been tempted to upgrade to the newer/updated Rivians, but one thing that held me back is the big downgrade in audio quality. Even my kids who are usually clueless were complaining about poor sound quality of the newer systems. I think your score of a D reflects our impression. Hopefully some day you'll get a chance to review the original Meridian system. I'm interested to hear what you think.

With its impressive audio capabilities, the JBL 9-speaker Sound System is a must-have for music enthusiasts.

That bass drop off at higher volumes must happen in all the ML vehicles - We have a 2023 IS350 with the ML, and after about 5-10 seconds of high volume / high bass music, the bass rolls off to almost nothing, then comes back if you turn down the volume again for a bit.

I don't think anyone who buys a McLaren has to save on the audio system. It's probably smart to have every interior option for better resale value.

I'm honestly quite surprised you like this system. It's near the top of my complaints about my 24 50e. I think the system is near garbage in terms of bass output and that the amplifier is woefully underpowered.

I have a 2023 Carbon Edition with this system and have found it to be a mixed bag. Older recordings like classic rock are all mid-range and it's very frustrating., But I came from a custom system in a big sedan that sounded incredible, so I'm a tough audience.

Most the speakers in this system are full range speakers. The problem is the quality of speakers not the quantity of speakers.😎😎😎

bose has always minized the adjustments. I believe they have their forced algorithim Bose Audio Pilot or something. it's ok. it's the same in my porsche bose
