Italian Sausage & Spinach Rigatoni
Indulge in a delicious Italian Sausage & Spinach Rigatoni pasta dish! This hearty meal features a savory meat sauce and is perfect for any pasta lover. Let's be honest, spaghetti can get a bit repetitive. This, on the other hand, steps it up a notch!
Here's the recipe:
- Mild Italian Ground Sausage (1 lb.)
- Chucky Tomato, Garlic, & Onion Pasta Sauce (24oz)
- Rigatoni
- Spinach (As much or as little as you’d like; I used two handfuls.)
- Onion (As much or as little as you’d like; I used about 1/4 of a small onion.)
- 1 Tsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
- Black Pepper (to your liking)
- Salt (Just a pinch, if needed!)
- Sugar (Optional, but it helps cut through the acidity of the sauce. Also, to your liking.)
1. Brown your sausage. If you’re a fan of heat, try the hot Italian ground sausage.
2. Add in onions and garlic and allow it release its flavor for about 1-2 minutes.
3. Add in seasonings and jarred sauce. Allow it to simmer on LOW. TASTING IS IMPORTANT WITH THIS MEAL. Because we are using sausage, the salt level varies. This is why I said to taste first then salt as needed.
4. While this simmers on low and the flavors come together, cook your pasta. Follow boxed instructions, if needed.
5. Once the pasta is cooked, drain and return to pot. Add rinsed spinach.
6. Combine meat sauce and pasta.
7. Serve and enjoy!
*Adding cheese is a must for me.
*TASTE AS YOU GO, please! Sausage=Pork=Salt
*Use my seasoning measurements as a reference but change as needed.

    Dont use metal utensils on non stick pans. Ur pan is all scratched up, u need to get rid of it, that metal coating is going in ur food

      Off assumption about 5-7 minutes. Have ingredients out, prep eggs, preheat skillet, cook eggs, put tortilla on top, toast, flip, add cheese, add meat, flip, flip, fold

    Love the “there’s an abundance” But you make minimalist plates. My kids are much older now (20, 17, 13 &11) but I found that by keeping their plates minimal it cut down on waste, they can always ask for more & it didn’t lead to the “you have to eat every thing on your overloaded plate” mentality that can be so damaging to babies when developing healthy eating habits. I’d rather make them a smaller plate but let them know they can always have more.

      @@mahoganyjoann I am overweight & have struggled my whole life with my weight. I have tried to help my kids adopt healthier eating habits and I’m glad to say they’re all at a healthy body weight. It’s important to start young. I’ve gotten funny looks at family gatherings when I put limited food on my kids plates but my response is “Is there not enough for them to come back?” While sarcastically looking at the abundance of food. I also don’t force them to eat their entire plate. That’s such a bad habit.
