Pruning and Propagating Native Shrubs from Hardwood Cuttings 👩🏻🌾🌿
#wintergardening #nativeplants #wildlifegarden Today I am pruning and propagating native shrubs. I am planning to use these cuttings to build out my hedgerow in the back of my property. Eventually I would like to apply some British hedgelaying techniques to create a a privacy barrier and wildlife habitat. 😊💚

Creating a Dragonfly Habitat in my Whiskey Barrel Pond / Projects VLOG March 9, 2023
Wondering how this worked over time. While the rocks look beautiful as a border the trench edging air prunes the grass so it can’t grow into your bedding area.
Flight path of a airport?😮
It’s nice to see someone talking about sedges , I do have many sedges and grasses people don’t know how important they are in a landscape . I have so many skippers since I started to add them 2 years ago. Thank you nice video
This video is so helpful. You ROCK!!!! Thank you. I'm looking for browse resistant plants to put around my trees in a sea of mice, kangaroo rats, chipmunks, rabbits, deer and ? I will definitely try to plant this.
Great content.
Need to find an image! Love your calm enthusiasm!
I want them!
😢😮 your saying so much my mom is sitting in my side that's whay I am not closing mobile
I’m new to native gardening (Canada), and thank you for sharing your native plant journey. ❤
Wow!
How deep do you plant the seeds?
How deep do you put the seeds?
Thank you! This is VERY helpful for me right now: especially the preferred stones! I have odd stones and flagstones, but I need something to fill in! 🩷
Where did you find the floating bubbling aerator (is that the search term I should use)? I'm assuming it's battery operated? I've had a balcony veg and herb patch for the past 20 years or so. We get visited by dragonflies on a regular basis and would love to set up a habitat for them. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Amazon. You can try looking up as floating solar water fountain they’re pretty cheap. More expensive ones have internal batteries that keep it working for a while after the sun sets. And even some with led lights
Second request: how close together did you plant those beauties?
What happens if you're walking? And you walk through the plant. Is it okay if you accidentally touch it or something?I had pants on and stuff and boots but I don't know it just seems very poisonous
How close together do you plant them?
Is the ground in your front yard unusually moist? Or do you provide supplemental watering?
Amazing! I love their fat little bodies!!
Thanks for the tip, I have an elderberry bush, now I can try to make more from it!
Hi Michele! I just found your channel and what a wealth of information. Ive been interested in native plants but have always had to buy plants which can get pricey. So this video is very helpful. How do we know which seeds need cold stratification..assuming I've collected seeds and don't have instructions.
Thank you I was looking for mint that was native I'm going to see toadshade farms
How is mowing along the edge with the big stones?
It looks like a great idea for a project. But I am a bit confused about the order of the steps. And i do not know why you don't put the pebbles into several pond baskets and use a hose to rinse off the dust. Why not poor out that old pond water into some temporary holding container. Assemble the pond, and add the water back into the pond?
That fabric sinks as well. Drainage is what you must address . The fabric is better at weed issues.
I need to sign up for no ads...sick of "chip in"
Do they flower the first year?
Thankyou so much for telling the information 🎉🎉🎉😊😊❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Very nice barrel pond. Purely out of curiousity, do you happen to know the reason behind the controversy over people using rocks/gravel to cover the pond soil or not? 🤔
Excellent content, thank you. Afterwards, I felt winded. 😮
Great video! What tool did you use to get your nice clean edges? Thanks!
Galinsoga is (was) the worst weed in my garden. It's another annual and by diligently pulling every plant before it set seed for THREE YEARS I finally have it nearly eradicated. Just hard work and persistence, persistence, persistence.
Hi Michelle, I love the detailed instructions on yor channel. I am experimenting with stratifiyng tulip seeds. I have a rare tulip (tulipa sprengerii) and have collected its seeds. How would you proceed with stratifying (how long and when) planting? Also my question, what concentration is the H2O2 which you use for dilution with water for the filter paper? Here in Switzerland we have 3% for medicinal purposes. Thanks in advance for your tipps, Monika 😊
The cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) is a native wildflower that is native to many wet areas in the United States and eastern Canada, including marshes, stream banks, and low woods. It is also known as Indian pink.
You're cute... Happy gardening
Battling stiltgrass and your video offered more info and tips than any other I have seen. Thank you!!
Very informative!! Thank you! Now I know. This is so important! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good idea however some suggestions. First list all products i.e. whisky barrel etc. 2nd list order of putting items into barrel 3rd. Buying guide where to buy items for this project.
Ya, have you heard of the: universal Bump Feed Trimmer Head??
Useless video. You need to mention the name of the native plant. Not the swallow tail butterflies
Don’t the by bits for mosquitos harm the dragon fly eggs?
Your yard looks beautiful! I love what you´ve done with the stones. Am taking a few tips from you for my garden. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great advice! It would be helpful to put out there up front that you're in Northern Virginia for people like me in the DMZ area
Thank you!
Would you have 4 seeds or 4 seedlings for sale
Thank you for this! I have racked my brain trying to remember the name of the native plant I planted in my early gardening days here in North Texas that returns and thrives so reliably. It's not the biggest showstopper for looks, but it certainly does a wonderful job of bringing life and airiness and contrasting color tone and foliage form in multiple spots in my front garden beds.
where are the dragonflies
Sleeping..😂 But yeah it has to be an update
It’s my understanding that you need the mosquito larvae as that’s what the dragonflies eat. Poisoning the mosquitoes will in turn poison the mosquito.
Awesome video! I just now put some native seeds in my fridge to stratify so was searching for what to do next 😁 i will search for more of your videos since you have an amazing channel
I’m hoping you are going to continue posting videos. I really enjoy your channel!
