The tote idea is a keeper, great idea. I am sprouting some seeds as you showed in a previous video, I'll be moving them to soil next! So fun! Thank you for your "tips and tricks". -Cheers -S
I love your setup! I need to create an area like that in my basement. Currently I just run one grow light in a tiny little corner where I put the seedlings. I'm growing native grasses and some flowers that don't need stratification at the moment. I hope to transfer them to a cell tray when possible, and keep growing them on indoors until it's warm enough to put them out. I very much relate to what you said about spring. Such a lovely season, but it just doesn't last at all. Fall feels similar. Fall is wonderful, but it seems to be gone so quickly. I can't wait to see how all our seedlings do! I'm so excited to watch them grow. :)
Thank you! I was very lucky to move in with shelves already there! I love having real seedlings now (kale and other). I can visit them and dream of the growing season! 😂😂...which i do!
Thank you! I am hoping to get brave enough to try native seeds. I usually buy baby native plants. Once in the yard, I have many volunteers, however there are so many other natives I would like in my garden. Seed is so much less expensive, I am just always scared they will not survive.
You are welcome! Do it! This will depend on your location but some easy things to try are: Perennials - Swamp/Rose Milkweed, Mountain Mints, Asters Grasses - Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem and Switch Grass Shrubs - Button Bush and Hypericum Prolificum Happy to help in any way, just let me know!
Good Morning! When I sow outside (and sometime inside) I use a very light covering of vermiculite. Plants I have never grown before I am a little more careful about where that is concerned. Thank you for stopping in!
Good Morning! Yes, course vermiculite should let the light through. I do a thin coating when I am sowing seeds that need light to germinate outdoors. I have done indoors as well sometimes. Carol Klein in the UK talks about that a lot.
If you have any pro-tips to share regarding indoor seed starting, please share in the comments below! ⬇️👩🏻🌾💚
Great content! You hit all the highlights of seed starting so well. I also like the upside down tote idea. Can't wait for spring.
Thank you so much, Barbara!!!
I busted out laughing at the D&H cameo!🤣😂🤣
They are too much! They always want to be in the video.🤣

You are welcome! I considered buy a little green house for my deck but I had so many extra transparent totes, I chose to save the $$$!
Loved learning the upside down tote idea!
Thank you!
Love it! Very similar to my setup! Today I sowed onions, basil and munstead lavender :D
Hi Tiffiani!!! I love getting those seeds in the soil! Holy basil and dahlias are on my schedule for sowing next week.

I have used vermiculite on top of "needs light to germinate seeds". I use a very fine grade and dust lightly.

Wow!
I heard vermiculite will allow light to read seeds that need light to germinate. What are your thoughts? TY
