    Inaccurate Statement I've seen first hand scientific testing that muc off is 1 of 2 least wearing lubes available and that the amazing magic Gold lube is the most damaging to our drivetrains! One the best it's said was tested to be the worst for friction wear! Was actually incredible to see that stuff eat through a solid cylinder of alloy!

    First off, you are comparing the last part of a carbon frame making against a full ti-frame build...Maybe you should start at the begining of the carbon build too, since you do so with the ti build? 1. Cutting each part of the carbon layup into shape + QC. 2-3 hours 2. Putting all layers (in the correct order) into the mold + QC. 2-4 hours 3. Preping the mold with the blatters, so the layup don´t wrinkle + QC .1 hour +. 4. Preping the resin and filling the mold. 30-45 min sometimes even over 1 hour 5. Baking the cake. Can take up to 1,5 hours, depends on how thick the tubing is 6. Removing frame from the mold, the blatter, excess resin. (QC AGAIN) 30-45 min 7. Then comes the finishing, that can take up to 2 hours, if the manufacturer is not sending it to a Brand that dose it themselves. You are not doin that in a 8 hour workday ;-)

    I ride a lynsky and run disc brakes and carbon rims with 105 shimano drive train. I worked for zipp years ago doing tooling and the carbon wheels of the day, and I personally do not like the idea of calliper brakes on carbon or unmachined aluminium rims. I used to true up the carbon disc wheels and make tri spoke wheels. The combination I have just seems right on all levels feels like solid quality. The next little addition I want is a cane creek suspension head stem, possibly a seat tube to match. The bike has a specialised seat to replace a more expensive one that I could not stand. I have several nice bikes, and it is not always the first choice but a good thing.

      If you have tried modern carbon rims with rim brakes its completely a different experience. I remember the old rims, in the wet you have zero friction. I was riding in the rain on my new rims and it was incredible breaking. ❤️

And again I might be happy for you to make a choice to do something, like taking drugs. But it’s perfectly fine for me to point out the bad things about that choice. It’s a bit like my belief on freedom of speech. I’m in absolutist, I think you should be able to say whatever you want. I have Ride Now tubes.They feel supple on the road but there have been a few issues. The plastic valve stems are fragile. I suggest using a CO2 pump on the road. I get far more punctures with TPU tubes than butyl tubes - even in the summer. Blame our lousy potholed roads. Nearly all my punctures were pinch flats (28mm tyres running at 80lbs pressure). IMO, Ride Now TPU tubes and fastish tyres would be wonderful for smooth European tarmac in the summer months. Last winter I switched to butyl tubes and Conti 4 Seasons tyres and had no punctures. Of course this is not going to be very fast but it is a good compromise for winter training rides.

    • @reginaldscot165
      @reginaldscot165 3 дні тому

      I use 4 seasons and Ride now 24g TPU and I didn’t get any flats for months and still nothing. But when I used TPU and GP50000 I got 1 flat ever 1-2 months. (Mostly from bits of metal from worn car tyres) I think it’s interesting that the GCN style propaganda told us that fatter tyres don’t flat as often, especially pinch flats. But that doesn’t seem to be the situation? I run 23s at 96 psi and the last time I got a pinch flat was 2 years ago, because I got it on camera. 😂 it was on traditional tubes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Reg. Now that you've covered dealing with the wet, what about tackling the heat? Specifically, hot disc brakes! I'm wondering if Shimano's cool looking finned Ice-Tech pads make much of a difference -- and are worth the extra money -- compared to the regular non-finned variety. Especially in Asia, where it gets hot, hot, hot. BTW: I appreciate you are a rim-brake man. But, I'm sure plenty of your customers ride discs. Cheers

    Hope that bike you're on is compliant - those look like gnarly roads. I needed that retro-grouch take on modern bicycles. As a long time cyclist, I have some nice old bikes in my "stable", but bought a few new bikes since the pandemic, as the parts on the old bicycles were getting hard to come by when repairs were needed. I resent needing to bleed the hydraulic disk brakes every 6 months, worrying about the squealing brakes, and having to deal with through-axels and disk alignment when I need to change a tire. I miss the simplicity of quick release wheels and rim brakes. I still only invest in mechanical shifting systems, and don't want to worry with batteries, "app's", etc., for changing gears. I also don't want to spend gobs of money for plastic - uh, carbon fiber - frames. Carry on.

    You've really outdone yourself this time Reginald! One kilogram lighter? Closer to 120g I think. Also Sram doesn't make a 12 speed mechanical group so I'm guessing you're referring to Red 22 11sp? It's true that average pro bikes have become a little heavier but speeds are faster than ever. Riders have choices between bikes depending on the stage and of course will choose the lighter climbing bike on mountain stages. The heavier aero bike will be faster on flatter stages. Do you really think teams wouldn't equip their riders with lighter bikes that are readily available if they thought it would win them races?

    • @reginaldscot165
      @reginaldscot165 6 днів тому

      Cyclists are faster than ever because the race is getting shorter and the science behind diet and performance enhancing Drugs are getting better. Yes I do believe they would put them on bikes and equipment that is slower, heavier and less safe. Why? Because sponsors that’s why. And do we have evidence for this? Yes, lots and lots. Riders are constantly using equipment that is worse than what they could be using. Light weight rim bikes are significantly faster in racing like the TDF. The new gen of 12 sp Electronic group sets are 1kg heavier because they are now all disc as well. With that comes heavier frames and wheels.

    • @reginaldscot165
      @reginaldscot165 6 днів тому

      If you need to make sure you don’t have to stop Tubeless isn’t the answer. It’s tyres armour. You could also put sealant in your tube tyres. Tubeless tyres are less puncture resistant because they fully rely on the sealant. If you absolutely can’t afford to stop you’d buy Gator hard shell tyres, then add a armoured strip and then put sealant in your butyl tubes. the brush from a dust pan and brush is my favorite, the long bristles and handle make them really good for big cassettes and getting in behind derailleurs and chainrings

      Interesting. I will try to make it in the next 3 videos, I have 1 or 2 I need to finish first. 😁

    This guy's onesided hate speech can't be trusted any more than a manufacturer's ine sided add speech. 🙄 I sat through half of the video and have quite enough of it. No nuance, just black and white. That's not what the world looks like.

    Strange, I've been on C3 dry lube for at least 5 years and have never seen anything like what you are experiencing, I use either DA or KMC SL chains and get between 6000-7500 miles, I do remove my chain about every 250/300 miles (weekly, I'm retired) and wash it in very warm water + a squirt of washing up liquid (rinse in warm water NO soap), dry under the grill (note, only a few minutes) re-lube with 1 drop per roller, and leave over night prior to use. I use reusable missing links and change about every 12 washes. Downside to C3 Ceramic is rain, washes off in minutes, however it is a dry lube for dry conditions !!

      The fact you wash the chain every 250 is the reason you won’t see this problem. But the lube is still not a good option and it’s probably reducing your performance significantly as it starts to get sticky between the rollers. 🙂
