You have a very nice channel, Reginald. I also like GCN Tech, Cade Media, Bern Peak, Bike Farmer, Peak Torque, James the bike fitter. There are quite a few channels I enjoy. I suffered with saddle sores for years, James the bike fitter mentioned stance, I put on a pair of 21 mm pedal extenders. Life changing event. Durianrider is on the money with the high carb low fat diet and railing against the keto nonsense. And railing against disk brakes on road bikes.

    • @leifcian4288
      @leifcian4288 4 місяці тому +1

I've been into both the Dr Bergses high fat keto stuff and found the views and advice to be very beneficial. Durianrider has become my counterfactual viewpoint to them and a lot of what he says also makes a lot of sense in its own context.
I feel that actually there's some extra knowledge to be fully realised in between the two views, in of understanding both metabolic states of being. Why not switch between high fat and low carb/high carb low fat as required for you current preferences and requirements, moods, environments and lifestyle ect?
Personally I don't want to be in the same mood as someone like Harley all the time. He has a lot of pressure of speech, thought, interpersonal hang ups and he's constantly having to dedicate way more time to sporty leisure activities, than seems remotely necessary to be reasonably healthy.
It's one thing if your activity competing, most people aren't and perhaps shouldn't be confusing their health priority's.
It seems like he needs steroids to manage injury and recovery and can't get his weight up to 80kg without them ect.
It doesn't seem like a good idea to consume as much carbohydrate as you want all the time unless you are indeed incredibly active enough. Seems like you would be leaving a lot of extra energy for unwanted malignant processes. The body can't store glycogen in a stable state like it can store fat.
Some of us have other interests and things to do than chasing time trial PRs for decades and doing another quick 5k run before bed...

You and George convinced me to wrap my bars in reverse, and I've had no issues thus far. He's like an older, wiser you, ha!
I don't care for the controversial cyclist. Could care less about the language, but he comes across as being controversial just for the sake of it. Rather reminiscent of a certain five year old. I don't watch everything that GCN puts it, or GC Performance, but I find them both entertaining, and transparent enough about where their interests lie. I find it fun to catch the details they miss, and don't need someone else blathering on about how they are shills to know they are biased.
Peak Torque is a mixed bag, as you say.
Honorable mention worth considering checking out: Rides of Japan. Some of the best video production value out there, from an obsessive weight weenie with a strong sense of aesthetics. And, he has a titanium bike (among others)! Super entertaining, and he has some awesome ride footage, looks like some of the best climbing in the world where he is at. He is super self aware about the extraordinary costs associated with his weight weenieness, but balances it all out with some budget choices and DIY optimizations.

If you’re still looking Jan 2025 this might help…… Lynskey R230 provided it’s the right size for you is a very reliable selection. Make sure you visually inspect the frame carefully for accident dinks and crash damage, check threads not damaged. Concerning cosmetic marks these easily polish out from brushed Ti finish. New decals readily available if any evidence of flaking, not uncommon after 4-5 years. These frames are very well made and finished (in house production in USA with 3 decades + experience). Bike mechanic here used to working on Lynskeys. R 230 gf’s daily ride.

@@reginaldscot165 That is exactly like todays gravel bike. the difference is only drop bars and disc brakes.
I am doing my research to build my next dedicated randoneuer bike for ultra distance off-road racing. It is obviously not going to be off the shelf from big name brands. If I go to a frame artisan, they could weld whatever bespoke frames I would need for my particular use. I see that a natural suspention (non hydroaulic) steel fork is only possible on rim brakes. This option obviously saves unnecessary weight and complexity. The more compliant rim brake frame could run narrower tires for more speed, without compromising the comfort you get on a disc bike with 50mm tires.
A well made springy fork can absorb the shock that tires alone cannot absorb. For this reason I see that the rim brake itself is still the better option even on off road application.
Although I still do see a place for disc brakes on off road use. I think the effortless braking ability of disc brake makes descending on very rough surface much easier. Rim brake technology is also more compromised on bigger tires, which are necessary for long days on dirt. for this reason cantilever or v-brakes are more common choice. how would Centerpull brakes perform?
      what is your thoughts?

You can always tell which “tech” GNC is going to push by looking at the products lining the shelves behind the presenters, prominently displaying brand names. A few years back Muc Off products were on the shelves and the GNC presenters were all in for Muc Off. Then Silca came on board and it was all about Silca, especially chain waxing. I find that to be highly deceptive. If Silca, or another manufacturer is sponsoring a GNC segment, they should say so. Otherwise it is misleading to the public. Old time riders can tell when they are being misled but, unfortunately, new riders may not be as discerning.

I agree with nearly all your selections, apart from "Controversial Cyclist".. The guy has his views which he is entitled to, but his bad language, vile abuse he dishes out on how others look and the same shilling allegations make him sound obsessed with conspiracies. He makes slanderous accusations and then calls people snowflakes and woke if we disagree, but the worse thing is hiding his face. He is a bully.

@dd776 Dry you eyes and stop making yourself a fake victim. You came into the my video comments section for months telling me how you hate the way I talk and like I say at the beginning of every video, disclaimer, this is not PG content, but the woke snow flake projector you are you want me to change my content. My channel, my work. DD if you don't like it stop 😢 like a baby and make a channel and respond. DD I also need to see your face in the comments section or you are a bully😮😂 Woke snow flake to the max, its DD776 melting b4 my eyes 👀 😂

I think it’s early days and he’s definitely improving in his style. Yes I don’t like the bad language, it’s something I try to avoid on my channel, but he says he has a mental condition so I try to filter it out. I genuinely think he has some good takes and in a way, I think he is needed, like Ying and yang. He brings balance to the force or whatever. 😂

Mapdec doesn't sell much products. They claim they started to sell Time and Look as he was impressed owth it. Buy this is mostly a repair shop. I am always cautious no matter who I watch. But they sur show lots of interesting stuff. And are educational. I'm not a roadie so road bikes ar not as interesting to me. But they seem to know their stuff. But one mistake they did was to say ltwoo bought Rotor, they didn't it was Wheeltop, tha bought majority stake in Rotor.

I’m not a fan, the guy is a scam artist like his buddy Hambini. And he slagged me off on Hambini videos in the comments even when I was right. He suggested I was a bad mechanic, so A) he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or B) he was lying just to make me look bad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like watching George Vargas videos also. I think we are a lot alike in our thoughts about cycling products in this modern era. However, the videos that he has done that I get disturbed about are the ones where he exploits his somewhat attractive girlfriend posing with the headlights on high beam. Clearly doing it to get people to watch the entire video. I get turned off by that behavior and I don't think kids should be watching either. I find some youtuber channels that just have a simple down to Earth ladylike personality like Sid and Macky to be more interesting to watch. I have not watched a full video of George Vargas videos when it's done with Jess posing.
