@@reginaldscot165 That is exactly like todays gravel bike. the difference is only drop bars and disc brakes. If I go to a frame artisan, they could weld whatever bespoke frames I would need for my particular use. I see that a natural suspention (non hydroaulic) steel fork is only possible on rim brakes. This option obviously saves unnecessary weight and complexity. The more compliant rim brake frame could run narrower tires for more speed, without compromising the comfort you get on a disc bike with 50mm tires. A well made springy fork can absorb the shock that tires alone cannot absorb. For this reason I see that the rim brake itself is still the better option even on off road application. I agree with nearly all your selections, apart from "Controversial Cyclist".. I find it kind of strange that you criticize both GCN and GCN tech as if it was the same thing. I think many people have learned a lot or picked up quite a few useful tips and tricks from these videos.
Yes the do have some good information. But the problem is you really need to know a lot about bikes to distinguish between that information and the useless marketing guff. And GCN is targeted against newer/less informed cyclists.
@@reginaldscot165 I would claim that cyclists who actually watch GCN Tech videos (or your videos for that matter) are mostly not so new and if not informed as in expert level, they are at least interested in getting as informed as possible. I do however agree that the GCN Tech videos might have dropped a hit in quality after Jon Cannings left.
George Vargas is amazing. Great advice videos too.
Totally agree! 👍🏻
George is my wrench. Has built my last two bikes, perfect.
Controversial cyclist was a bit of a novelty at first, but he comes across as a pretty vile individual. Very repetitive also.
I can see that, perhaps I will get tired of his videos. If you had asked me for my list 2 years ago it would have looked completely different. 😅
Cumtown 👍
Indeed. 👍🏻
I don't think that's a UA-cam channel😜
I agree with nearly all your selections, apart from "Controversial Cyclist".. The guy has his views which he is entitled to, but his bad language, vile abuse he dishes out on how others look and the same shilling allegations make him sound obsessed with conspiracies. He makes slanderous accusations and then calls people snowflakes and woke if we disagree, but the worse thing is hiding his face. He is a bully.
@dd776 Dry you eyes and stop making yourself a fake victim. You came into the my video comments section for months telling me how you hate the way I talk and like I say at the beginning of every video, disclaimer, this is not PG content, but the woke snow flake projector you are you want me to change my content. My channel, my work. DD if you don't like it stop 😢 like a baby and make a channel and respond. DD I also need to see your face in the comments section or you are a bully😮😂 Woke snow flake to the max, its DD776 melting b4 my eyes 👀 😂
I think it’s early days and he’s definitely improving in his style. Yes I don’t like the bad language, it’s something I try to avoid on my channel, but he says he has a mental condition so I try to filter it out. I genuinely think he has some good takes and in a way, I think he is needed, like Ying and yang. He brings balance to the force or whatever. 😂
@@reginaldscot165 Fair enough, but that doesn't give him a pass to throw abuse and accuse people of stuff without evidence.
Not to mention crap production and awful sound. Tried two of CC's videos and couldn't make it through 5 minutes; hard pass.
Mapdec doesn't sell much products. They claim they started to sell Time and Look as he was impressed owth it. Buy this is mostly a repair shop. I am always cautious no matter who I watch. But they sur show lots of interesting stuff. And are educational. I'm not a roadie so road bikes ar not as interesting to me. But they seem to know their stuff. But one mistake they did was to say ltwoo bought Rotor, they didn't it was Wheeltop, tha bought majority stake in Rotor.
I’m not a fan, the guy is a scam artist like his buddy Hambini. And he slagged me off on Hambini videos in the comments even when I was right. He suggested I was a bad mechanic, so A) he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or B) he was lying just to make me look bad. 🤷🏻♂️
@@reginaldscot165 Shame. I wonder if he actually knows Hambini or is just a fanboy. But Shame he is rude towards you. He clearly knows how to work on bikes and to many jobs. But not everyone know everything and people make mistakes, so shame if he too can't accept the truth if someone proves something is wrong.Accepting one is wrong is part of having integrity.
@@reginaldscot165 I didn't know he did that. Makes me curious about what. If he's a mechanic crying about mechanic stuff and teaching about mechanic stuff. Eventually he might contradict himself. 😛 At least some of it is educational and interesting. But shame if he will turn into a full shill. But I'm always cautious.
@@reginaldscot165 It's a shame, I thought he could be trusted, but apparently not.
I asked about the disaster of a headset service video by Hambini but he did not reply about that. But after reading your reply, I'm not surprised. Shame, I wish there were more honest, fully independent channels.
11 speed mechanical 105 _can_ be beaten … by 12 speed mechanical 105
Well, 11 speed gets to 11T at 1 cog faster. 😅
My most favourite cycling UA-camrs;
1. Reginald Scot
2. Rev Sports
3. Mapdec
4. Buzz Along (even though there are lots of marketing envolved)
the rest are just BS
That’s very kind of you to say. I will try to keep doing whatever it is you like about this channel. 😅👍🏻
I like luis scott as well.
No, no. You most watching of Hambini's.
Hardly ever, I haven’t see any of his recent videos. Unsubscribe over a year ago.
Start of his channel was like , he seems legit, further down the line he was Mr swear mouth, then the headset video made him look like a fool. 🤦
Not a fan of The Controversial Cyclist. Too rude. Can't listen to him. George Vargas is great and he wins races on rim brake bikes. 😉
Yes I completely understand your perspective. It’s unfortunate but he says he can’t help it. But would be better if he didn’t. 🤷🏻♂️
Just wonder why u here in Asia and Darussalam. Most people like you want to leave, may be ur personality type is outkast in ur own country in the west? What is ur aim on youtube here
My family is here. My aim is to make videos.
Vargas is a dinosaur
I agree, dinosaurs are cool. 😎
I like watching George Vargas videos also. I think we are a lot alike in our thoughts about cycling products in this modern era. However, the videos that he has done that I get disturbed about are the ones where he exploits his somewhat attractive girlfriend posing with the headlights on high beam. Clearly doing it to get people to watch the entire video. I get turned off by that behavior and I don't think kids should be watching either. I find some youtuber channels that just have a simple down to Earth ladylike personality like Sid and Macky to be more interesting to watch. I have not watched a full video of George Vargas videos when it's done with Jess posing.
I haven’t seen those ones as I tend to avoid the video if I see a woman in it because that’s the same thing Durian riders does. 🤢
The Controversial Cyclist is awful and unlike you he is very disrespectful and derogatory and his opinions are totally los in all the swearing.
That’s very nice of you to say. 🙏🏻
