Here's the thing about Gouken though. He's probably stronger than Akuma with the Power Of Nothingness. The reason that Ryu can be seen training with Gouken after Gouken comes back from his presumable death. Is because he and Akuma had one last fight over Ryu. They agreed that the winner of that fight would teach Ryu to walk down their chosen path of fighting. While we never saw the outcome of that fight on screen. Gouken is still around and regularly training with Ryu and Ken. So it's obvious that Gouken won that fight. I'm also surprised you didn't say anything about Prime Gen. We never got to see Gen in his prime fight Akuma at his absolute strongest but it's implied that they would have been equal of close to it.
