Miles' predicament is even funnier when you look at Waylon on the other end of the asylum trying to leave, while this man said, "Imma go deeper", after losing 2 fingers.
Recently saw a horror game where a dude has to juke possessed cars that were trying to hit him in the neighborhood. Horror protagonists are built different.
My favourite example of smart horror protagonists is in The Thing. It makes complete sense why everyone acts the way they do and it only raises the tension in every scene
I also really love how ALIEN handles its protagonist. You don’t even know that Ripley is the protagonist until halfway through the film when Dallas gets abducted in the vents and she’s put in charge. She’s the only person that ended up being worthy of surviving at the end since she was the only one who didn’t let her emotions get to her. And that’s the funny thing, overwhelming emotional responses and scientific curiosity is what gets people killed in ALIEN, only one death is due to ignorance. Kane’s curiosity got him face hugged, Ash’s scientific priorities had him allow a xenomorph to gestate inside of Kane, Brett underestimated how big the alien got after disposing of its shed skin (kinda understandable), Dallas insisted that quarantine be damned when handling Kane, and Parker thought bum rushing the alien to save a emotionally paralyzed lambert was the only alternative to torching both of them. Nobody’s really dumb in that movie, they just didn’t have what it took to survive against a perfect organism.
If I was the fnaf night guard and I saw a robot do so much as TWITCH, I would just clock the fuck out for the rest of my life and go home to meditate and rethink my life choices 😭

Looking back, Mike trying to free all the kids' souls make his reason for staying make sense. Besides he was he was pretty much a walking corpse for most of the games.
I remember reading a true story about a journalist that checked themselves into an asylum to gather Intel after they heard rumours of inhuman treatment to patients. After gathering the Intel, they told workers they felt like they were "cured" and wanted to leave but staff wouldn't let them. They even admitted to being a journalist but staff still wouldn't let them leave. IMO that would have been a much better way for Miles to be trapped in the asylum.
I always hate when creepy shit happens in a movie and the person always has the urge to check out the obvious upcoming jump-scare in slow motion. Also, big fan of these long outros. Gives you something to vibe to while looking for the next video. Top tier content.
This reminds me too much of lethal company Experiencing horrors not suitable for my eyes, dodging traps, mines, turrets in an abandoned facility where the only pay is me not getting sent out the airlock
1 important thing too. Why do these protaginist do their investigations at night? Outlast. Guy starts his adventure at night in an asylum. Why? Dont you want visibility to investigate and find evidence? Another funny thing is that these games tend to take place in America, or an alternate version. But nobody, except Leon, brings a gun. You got easy access to defence. Even a stun gun, mace, anything is easy available. Bear mace at least?
One thing that makes horror games spooky but also the protagonist incompetent is the fact that you cant fight back or defend yourself, like one of the only horror games where fighting back against the monsters is common and what the main characters usually do is resident evil
Nemeses are some of the scariest horror enemies specifically because you're armed in those games. They show up, you shoot them, and then slowly realise "OH FUCK THIS ONE DOESN'T DIE?"
Funniest part about the fnaf games is that even if you subscribe to the theory that you play as the same guy across all the games (the undead son of the main villain of the series), it still doesnt explain why the guy in the second game sticks around (who is not the undead son of the main villain of the series) for 6 whole fucking nights in a pizzeria where children are actively being murdered in.

This is why Still Wakes The Deep is a great game like the protagonist, Caz, doesn’t want to do shit the entire time but is forced to by circumstance and is terrified the entire time. Love games that make the protagonist feel human
I agree with you about the protag getting out point. I always prefer that storyline where they’re just trying to survive a horrific situation. It’s relatable which is great in such a setting where you automatically empathize with the MC because it’s so dire. The sequel, which I’m sure you’ve played, is similar with the protagonist. A guy trying to find his wife and get tf out. Plus they doubled down on the religious themes in that game which was perfect. Fuckin love the Outlast series. Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever played Alien Isolation, but it’s 100% up there with Outlast in terms of being on the most effective horror games of all time.
in all FAIRNESS FNAF takes place in the 1970s/80s. They weren't paid per week, but per day (usually 150-200). Taking into account inflation, at minimum, that's essentially 1300 bucks a DAY. That is 215 PER HOUR. No bite of 87 is gonna peel me off that chair.
That's why I liked Still Wakes the Deep's MC, he realistically reacts to weird creepy shit happening around him and getting jumpscared as you do. Also he didnt physically got himself in the situation.
The reason i kinda like it's all in le head is becauce protagonists in those games do this to themselves and have no other option than to go through hell, like in cry of fear or silent hill
This is why I love the resident evil series. Even thought if I'm surrounded by monsters, I still have glock on me. The average horror protag not having no skills no fight back is dumb as a writing stand point.
Random ideas I have for horror movie concepts: - The muddy trenches of WW1. The main character, a German soldier, and his friends, are being relentlessly pursued by an American soldier with a gas mask, a shotgun, and a serrated bayonet. (Fun stuff, if you don’t know the history) - Chernobyl, but it was much more disastrous and infected all of a nearby village, deforming most of the inhabitants and driving them insane. Main characters are the last survivors, who have to escape the area while potentially succumbing to the radiation - Comedy-horror hybrid of Naz1s hiding from a Jew, except it’s the kind they described in propaganda (they were tryna make us sound like Eldritch horrors 😂) - Vietnamese people trying to survive against ghosts in the jungle at night, possibly set during the Vietnam War (this comes from how during the war, many Vietnamese people believed in spirits, including hostile ones; the US military attempted to use this by broadcasting sounds of ghosts and fallen Vietnamese soldiers to scare the enemy. So could also be like “what if the radio ghosts in the Vietnam War were real?) Could be set in really any timing of Vietnam’s history, but in Vietnam War, there is potential for having American soldiers trying to survive as well, maybe even having to work with the enemy - The president of the United States is possessed by a demon and prowls the White House at night, leaving a handful of Secret Service agents to get him back while trying to avoid dying - Multi-episode series from the perspective of VIPs and/or their bodyguards, who are all hunted down and murdered brutally and creatively by a ruthless, intimidating Hitman (Agent 47?) - Cyberpunk universe slasher where the main villain is a cyber psycho with the creepiest looking implants possible I’m probably making no sense but yeah
Okay, for Michael, I get it, William STARTED this whole mess when he killed the kids and stuffed them into the animatronics, and, due to the trauma he feels for killing his own brother, he feels the need to END it.
Even in Luigi's Mansion (a kids game with some spooky Elements) makes more sense One day Luigi receive a letter saying "you won a mansion" Mario is happy about it and goes to check it out, while Luigi is skeptical about it. Then Luigi goes to the mansion to check his brother and turns out it's hunted, so he has to go and save his brother So Luigi is the smart one
One thing that makes horror games spooky but also the protagonist incompetent is the fact that you cant fight back or defend yourself, like one of the only horror games where fighting back against the monsters is common and what the main characters usually do is resident evil
I think pretty much every fnaf protag is in some way related to the lore, i.e. playing as the son of the main antagonist to find out more about what happened etc. . Granted it’s not elaborated on if you don’t dig deep into lore
1:23 damn bro, missed opportunity to have the kid with the bad haircut clip here with the music a voice over. One of my favorite bits from your Tekken videos. Either way keep up the good work bro!
Granted the lore clarifies why the mc is staying at all those pizzerias (excuse my glazing, just sayin) BUT I gotta agree when taking a grand majority of these horror games at face value, it’s super fucking irritating especially when there is very little background as to why the game even exists😭😭😭 (also dude I have been watching ur videos nonstop, I love ur format and keep it up!!!)
A game which solves this issue perfectly is Cry of Fear. Not only that the protagonist defends himself from the beginning straight, he does it with various other weapons too therefore uses all his opportunities. And the best thing is it all makes sense why the MC is going through all these places and enemies but I won't state why for spoilers
that's one of the reasons i fuck with dead space's story, especially the first game isaac was there doing his job like any other and he had an outside goal aside from just fixing the ship
In FNAF’s Case, The Security Guard (Mike) isn’t even doing this for the Money, he doesn’t need it. His doing something far more important that warrants a Week at Freddy’s.

The part about Saw is explained in the movies, one of Jigsaw’s apprentices deliberately made inescapable traps because she just didn’t want those people to live
I like to think the fnaf 1 guy is just really stupid and not once realizes he’s in danger and just defends from the animatronics because them being in his room is super inconvenient. Like he 100% buys what phone guy says.
_Willy's Wonderland_ is an accurate representation of what would happen for 90% of us in an "indie horror" scenario. "Oh no! Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever played Alien Isolation, but it’s 100% up there with Outlast in terms of being on the most effective horror games of all time.
I mean- kinda hard to avoid FNAF when the lore has your father as the main villain🧍
Horror protagonist really act like they know they can load up a save file
I was genuinely distraught when the outro started, I love your videos 😭 another banger king
It also hits a LITTLE different when the animatronics end up being the dead child victims of your serial killer father
Bro I need that fnaf job application jumpscare 😂😂
I swear mfs on some horror movies always tryna do some weird shit like tf you mean going to a haunted house ima go to my actual house instead 💀
I just imagine these protags are from Birmingham or NYC, so they're used to it
toonarii upload my favorite type of holiday
in all FAIRNESS
FNAF takes place in the 1970s/80s.
That beat at the end tho 🔥❤️
The reason i kinda like it's all in le head is becauce protagonists in those games do this to themselves and have no other option than to go through hell, like in cry of fear or silent hill
In FNAF's defense, Mike and Fritz were both Michael, so him going back made sense... Jeremy was either brave, stupid, or both.
This is why I love the resident evil series. Even thought if I'm surrounded by monsters, I still have glock on me. The average horror protag not having no skills no fight back is dumb as a writing stand point.
Bro please we make longer videos, how you expect me to watch dinner over this 😞
Random ideas I have for horror movie concepts:
- The muddy trenches of WW1. The main character, a German soldier, and his friends, are being relentlessly pursued by an American soldier with a gas mask, a shotgun, and a serrated bayonet. (Fun stuff, if you don’t know the history)
- Chernobyl, but it was much more disastrous and infected all of a nearby village, deforming most of the inhabitants and driving them insane. Main characters are the last survivors, who have to escape the area while potentially succumbing to the radiation
- Comedy-horror hybrid of Naz1s hiding from a Jew, except it’s the kind they described in propaganda (they were tryna make us sound like Eldritch horrors 😂)
- Vietnamese people trying to survive against ghosts in the jungle at night, possibly set during the Vietnam War (this comes from how during the war, many Vietnamese people believed in spirits, including hostile ones; the US military attempted to use this by broadcasting sounds of ghosts and fallen Vietnamese soldiers to scare the enemy. So could also be like “what if the radio ghosts in the Vietnam War were real?) Could be set in really any timing of Vietnam’s history, but in Vietnam War, there is potential for having American soldiers trying to survive as well, maybe even having to work with the enemy
- The president of the United States is possessed by a demon and prowls the White House at night, leaving a handful of Secret Service agents to get him back while trying to avoid dying
- Multi-episode series from the perspective of VIPs and/or their bodyguards, who are all hunted down and murdered brutally and creatively by a ruthless, intimidating Hitman (Agent 47?)
- Cyberpunk universe slasher where the main villain is a cyber psycho with the creepiest looking implants possible
I’m probably making no sense but yeah
Okay, for Michael, I get it, William STARTED this whole mess when he killed the kids and stuffed them into the animatronics, and, due to the trauma he feels for killing his own brother, he feels the need to END it.
W Toonarii shouting out small creatures 4:21
I miss cory sm 😔
Even in Luigi's Mansion (a kids game with some spooky Elements) makes more sense
One day Luigi receive a letter saying "you won a mansion" Mario is happy about it and goes to check it out, while Luigi is skeptical about it.
Then Luigi goes to the mansion to check his brother and turns out it's hunted, so he has to go and save his brother
So Luigi is the smart one
That's why it's always amazing when a horror game gives you the option to just leave as soon as you came. lol
This video had me rolling, fam! Good topic 😂🙏
This nga mic so crispy im listening to this in the background while grinding elden ring
With FNAF, it might be because your trying to free the children's spirits while searching for deadbeat dad. Meaning, Mike is just a bit of crashout.
that's one of the reasons i fuck with dead space's story, especially the first game
isaac was there doing his job like any other and he had an outside goal aside from just fixing the ship
The goat recognizing my goat Miles W❤❤❤
In FNAF’s Case, The Security Guard (Mike) isn’t even doing this for the Money, he doesn’t need it. His doing something far more important that warrants a Week at Freddy’s.
Bo you cooked with the music on this one. Shit strait fire
best horror protag is the character we play in scorn. i said what i said. yall gotta get ON IT that shit had me crying
Journalist : "Hmmm I have recorded myself breaking into this asylum and finding a dead body. Is this enough? NAH I GOTTA GET MORE YOU KNOW I GOTTA GET MORE ON THIS SOLO, DEFENSELESS, MISSION WITHOUT CALLING ANY COPS"
3:47 💀💀💀💀 Uncle Ruckus Reference
It is a very fine line between horror and comedy lmao
I always forget how wild the premise is for fnaf if you don’t know the lore. Almost dying for 120 dollars is insanity
There's a greater purpose for why the MC of FNAF signs up for these jobs but I ain't gonna yap about it
@@SugarPunk420 I know why, I’m just saying if you don’t know the lore, the nightguard just seems like a psychopath
@@Pyrothememelord bruh how did i miss that part of the comment lol 💀
i cant eat snacks when i watch you cause i always choke on my food from laughing too much
How did I miss this upload? It's a good day for a new Ari vid :)
a toonari drop its a great day to be alive
Toonari I've been here since like 60k I apreciate the content

Als fun fact: Virtue of the fact that you entered the gates, regardless of whether you dipped early or not, you were not going to survive three days....iykyk
love your stuff man
1:18 bro the wiki says foxy runs 30 mph (Same speed as usaine bolt)
The part about Saw is explained in the movies, one of Jigsaw’s apprentices deliberately made inescapable traps because she just didn’t want those people to live
I like to think the fnaf 1 guy is just really stupid and not once realizes he’s in danger and just defends from the animatronics because them being in his room is super inconvenient. Like he 100% buys what phone guy says.
turns out the fnaf protagonist is the son of the killer trying to go after his father, so he knew what he signed up for
YO AHH BETTER ADOPT ME AT 200K‼️‼️🗣️💯💯🔥
_Willy's Wonderland_ is an accurate representation of what would happen for 90% of us in an "indie horror" scenario.
"Oh no! Im trapped in a creepy building overnight and these conveniently situated animatronics are trying to kill me. Good thing I saw this shit coming from a mile away and brought a baseball bat!"
Yes, but 99% of us aren't Nicholas Cage
yall don't know about the GOAT ash williams and it shows, not only is he a badass but he actually uses his brain
Christ alive I need your sfx folder
My man Isaac be shaking his head in dissapproval.
Yo final challenge, have common sense in a horror movie. OH HELL NAW JIGSAW YOU TWEAKIN
NEW VID
thank you my melanated brother.
Bruh I need that ending song, it's a banger 🗣️
The goat has uploaded.
iirc the FNAF protag is there to figure out what happened to his father.
It’s all about the execution, hence why SIGNALIS is my favorite horror game of all time.
ah yes, my favorite horror game featuring space lesbians
