If anything a lower poly on props is a GOOD thing. It shows the developers took time to optimisatize the game, and they still find something to fucking winge about man..
If you’re someone like me who plays a lot of retro games (especially N64, PS2, MS-DOS, etc.), then a polygonal soda can isn’t really gonna be a big issue unless there’s one soda can that bricks the game when stepped on. Game-breaking bugs are legitimate issue, not stylistic choices.
Yeah, but then another dev did not take the time to actually implement a proper LOD system... which is actually not that hard to implement for discrete props, wether they are static or movable... actually the only real hardship in changing LODs is how you handle it for continuous objects like terrain or voxel models, so I sincerely believe the soda can complaint is 100% justified, it's just a large switch, who tf fucks that up? You don't need to be terminally online to realise how big of a problem that is. Mainly because of performance. You might think that it is good for that soda can to have switched its LOD to a lower detail model... but is it? you don't know the underlying implementation. You don't know if a new draw call is issued to the GPU each time the prop changes. You don't know if the model is preloaded in static memory or not. What if this bug causes the game to change to a higher LOD for meshes that should be using a lower one instead? what if the problem is that the LOD IDs are wrong by an off by 1 error? Then we have an out of bounds memory indexing problem, and that could be just fine, load the wrong LOD, load a completely different model, crash or invoke a syscall that erases all of the files in your file system (cue in payday 2's mythical bug where all save files and dlls of the game are literally deleted due to this exact kind of error... which is still not fixed in the year 2024 btw)
@frog31492 As a twitter user myself I'm proud to be able to actually take breaks and go hiking in the woods I'm close too, very beautiful place, honestly being close to nature always helps me improve as a person than being an terminally online zombie

Its funny because the painted ladder thing was done because a bunch of people in game testing couldn't figure out where to go next since the ladder blended too well the the bg
That whole soda can thing reminds me of when the Twitter zombies got mad at Spiderman 1 for removing the reflections from the water puddles. its such a small stupid thing that 99% of people aren't gonna notice so the devs removed it to increase performance thus making the game run smoother which makes it a better game, and they got hate for that. The amount of people who can't seem to understand that game engines and consoles have technical limits is infuriating, like do they think what's happening on the screen is magic some wizard cooked up?
it's almost if theres a word for intentionally saving game performance by either lowering the polycount of a model or removing small features/details, crazyyyyyyy
"You can't go to Cony Island and enjoy a world famous Nathans hot dog" is such a hilarious complaint about a superhero game where you swing from webs and fight bad guys
I love how they say they want a mode where you just walk around the city and let other characters fight crime, like how dare these devs not cater to me not wanting to be spider-man in a game about spider-man.
back in the day, when games began to have 4k graphics and visual quality was seen as a priority by developers, we would say "you can't see the hair in the MC's nose, literally unplayable" in a satirical way. now you have people saying the exact same thing, but now they actually MEAN IT.
Dude, that part about the guy riding onto the train tracks was actually just brain rot behavior, you don't even go anywhere near a train track in that mission and they were surprised the game didn't know what to do when he went there?!
To be fair a lot of games are programmed with if statements. I don't see why riding a bike on train tracks would suddenly explode you like that instead of just popping you through or wobbling you around
@@kylespevak6781the collision of the train is made to push the character away, and the character is supposed to react on a certain way when interacting with that collision; the train is not programed to interact with the character in the bike, nor the character in the bike is programed to interact with that kind of collision, so it doesn't know what to do and probably push the bike as a individual object to one side and the player as another individual object to the other side, but again, the game is not programed for that to happen, so it doesn't really understand that you're not in a bike anymore, since you're not supposed to get dismounted that way ever

Only thing we should hate about modern games is the price and the push for better graphics more than anything else. Good graphics are good and all but I can’t afford the supercomputer needed to render them at a stable frame rate.
adding onto that, the fact that modern games require up to (and more than!!!!) 230 GB to play is insane i won't mind if the models are lower quality if that means i can have more storage. and i thought that 20 GB for tf2 was bad,,,

I'm a freelance developer that has worked on multiple games that have released on Steam, some big, some small, but the most common feeling I have when making games is feeling like I love making games, but hating the people I'm making them for. Or, to put it more bluntly, "I love making games, but I hate gamers". You can dump years of your life into a project and gamers will just desperately dig to find ANY reason to be upset about the game, like they've got nothing else in their life to do except complain. I'm being hyperbolic of course; I obviously don't hate gamers as a whole, it's just that, well, look at any steam forum discussion page, for example. If it's miserable to look at as a user, imagine how miserable it is to look at as a developer. It's always good for me and every other developer to just remember that these are the vocal minority and they aren't in any way representative of reality, but man is it still annoying when 90% of the feedback that you see is from that vocal minority, since the silent majority just... Don't talk, since they're too busy enjoying the game.

"I hate gamers" Then don't make games, it's as simple as that. There's plenty of game developers out there that are gamers themselves, we don't need people that aren't gamers trying to generate slop for a demographic they hate.
Honestly it's been this way for awhile, but it's gotten bad lately. Ignoring OG Incels pitching "The Uglification Of Video Games" we have this issue where people are going into games believing they are bad by nature. After 8 long years of shouting "CRUNCH IS GOOD. CRUNCH MAKES GOOD GAMES. PRESSURE MAKES DIAMONDS!!!🤓🤓🤓" And then being systematically wrong, they've doubled back and now claim that *EVERYTHING* is unfinished, even though they're the ones who kept telling studios to release unfinished games... Now, when a game *is* finished, they already believe that every triple A game is buggy, unfinished, and trash. So, when something like Baldur's Gate comes out, they don't praise it for being good, they say "Look at how ugly (insert specific character designed to be ugly) is! THE UGLIFICATION OF VIDEO GAMES IS REAL! ANITA SARKISIAN!!!" or find some stupid nitpick like "Why gay??? 😡😡😡" or "How DARE you use art to comment on politics and social issues!" or "HOW DARE YOU INCLUDE [Gender Affirming Feature]" They're just... Stupid. They're stupid. If they aren't looking at polygons of a soda can and refusing to think "Oh hey, lowering the texture on models that don't need high polygons will save a lot of space on people's consoles and make the game run smoother, while giving us more space to work and make new, more fantastical visuals! And all it took was a lower polygon soda can. :^)"
How is that an incel talk when it's literally happening? I don't mind if they make ugly characters, I couldn't give less of a fuck (although I only see it with females, men in videogames are still natural Greek gods), but making a character intentionally uglier than they were in the previous game for no reason at all just seems retarded to me.

The thing you showed with the bit crashing in the ferris wheel is actually not a bug. You can turn of swing assist in the game. It’s to prevent noobs from crashing constantly.
If you have to go out of your way to break a game, that is a testament to how polished the game actually is. The cube glitch is absolutely hysterical. People need to appreciate the occasional funny glitch. Spider-man 2 has it's glitches but people are acting like it's Cyberpunk 2077 on release bad.

I deleted twitter a while back so I might just be blissfully ignorant but it feels like people who primarily play Switch games are way less obsessed with graphics and complaining about glitches and stuff. I’m playing TOTK now and most everything I’ve seen on UA-cam is just people showing off the funny or cool stuff they’ve built
This is so true a lot of the time. Nintendo fans when they complain about a game are most of the time complaining about an unfinished, bare bones release (Mario strikers charged, Mario tennis ultra smash, etc.) and generally only care about glitches when it makes the game unplayable or breaks the game in some way drastic in normal gameplay. Not to say that Nintendo fans are saints or anything, as someone who involves themselves with the community quite a bit they can be dumb as fuck when it comes to many things. But they tend to not care about small inconsequential bugs or “issues” in a game and just enjoy the game.
the problem with gaming nowadays is the fact the fandoms act very childish most of the time like Anime fans they act like their fav game/anime is perfect but everything else is a Downgrade bec they say so, which is super weird 😭
Those kinds of fans makes it seem like it's impossible to like several different things. What, just because I happen to love Game X, does that mean I should hate Game Y?
Fallout: New Vegas fans are really bad about that. Even though NV only runs on modern hardware (or at all) because God himself granted Obsidian a miracle.
>remember when video games were an escape from life and it’s concerns Right because games like Fallout, Call of Duty, Bioshock and Metal Gear have never had any political undertones or real world analogues
The thing is that those games were always pretty well written, and weren't just lecturing you on how you need to agree with the writers down to every last bit of ideology, and more often than not they simply presented the moral quandary, and let people decide for themselves. Let's use Fallout, particularly 3, since you mentioned it. There isn't really a point where the game outright says "God, capitalism is horrible, and should be disregarded, huh?", it's always more of a "Was the Great War caused by humanity's need to fight, and was totally avoidable, or would people's greed, and unregulated companies have caused it another way instead?" type of scenario. Heck, let's use a more recent, and popular game that I'm playing through right now, Red Dead Redemption 2. It's incredibly fun, and the world feels alive, and well crafted, but there are absolutely moments that are eye roll worthy, like the old slave catcher. The main character can perform the worst actions, oftentimes without the game's honor system even punishing you, like shooting up an entire town in a few missions, but the moment someone else does something despicable, suddenly the guy who was beating a man dying of tuberculosis in front of his family for not paying back a couple week old debt is the moral authority here? Just saying, sometimes the disconnect is jarring enough to feel like a 1980s PSA, especially in a game that allows you to occasionally choose how a cutscene plays out.

Lost of games, especially older games, were very unforgiving to new players, and either expected you to have extensive knowledge in the genre, or just to look at information about the game in struff like guide books and instruction manuals. Asking for tips is absolutely valid, especially if it's an harder game. Tips doesn't mean the entire game, it's just a little help.

But you see posts like these for newer, single-player titles too. And, to me, finding out the best strategy (or even just the one you like most) by YOURSELF is a lot more fun than watching a video or reading a reddit post that immediately tells you the meta build
@@m0j026 Well, that's just you. Some people prefer to go into games knowing the basics, instead of dying 20 times because the game never told you about the base mechanics
Reminds me of back when Pokémon first revealed the Teratalising mechanic in Scarlet and Violet, people complained about the Pokémon looking goofy with them. Scarlet and Violet have a myriad of problems, but Balloons on a giant lizard is like... Nothing?
That pronoun guy later went on to claim that the pronoun selector is bad because it forces you to engage in woke pronoun gender stuff, even though the game automatically gives you he/him if you picked a male body, and she/her if you picked female body. He’s just provably wrong, unless his definition of engaging is just looking at a thing
@@henrynelson9301 The problem is often with the "pronoun" character creators is the devs cut corners and we lose out on other body types and end up with just "feminine and masculine" Very few games that changed "male and female" to "body type 1 or 2" went the direction of Baldur's Gate 3 and actually kept "buff and thin" versions of each gendered body type even allowing you to select genitals on most races, the problem is BG3 is the exception to the rule, a majority of the time they're just swapping "male and female" with "A and B" or "1 and 2" and in many cases just leaving it at that. Most games are doing it because it's more profitable to put in body types rather than genders at the moment. If it ever comes to pass that it's more profitable to go back to "male and female" genders with no pronoun options, most of these games would in a hearbeat. The way I always put it, which disturbs people to think about, but these companies do what's profitable to the point where if they think a naked kid on the cover of their game would sell more copies then they'd lose to people that would complain, they'd do it without a second thought. The only reason they don't is because they don't _know_ if it would be more profitable to do that, not because it's the wrong thing to do.
I feel like the main problem with these people is that they want every game they play to fulfill their fantasies. Like the people complaining about Horizon Zero Dawn. It is a world where civilization had to restart and it is kind of like cave man times, with women and men kind of doing everything that needs doing and as long as you are capable of doing the thing, you will be tasked of doing the thing. They simply want games to be as free as something like DnD, being able to do whatever you want to do with no limitations. And they forget about the setting, characters, lore, and all world building going on that explains why you can’t do certain things. Like, if Miles sees a crime, unless it is an extremely dire situation or a small crime, he ain’t calling Peter, he is going to throw hands by himself and if need be, call backup later. Miles won’t just keep strolling through NYC while someone is getting mugged. And these people forget about that.
If it's an immersive game then yeah, punish me for being OOC, but if my braindead Spideyman game starts forcing me to not ignore crimes then I'm refunding that shit and buying a better Insomniac game with Yuri Lowenthal in it (i.e. any game they've made in the past decade and a half.)

Muscular more then even 90% of men. 😂 But hey I'm not complaining about that fictional main character looks like that. But it gives you wonders of why they start to make female characters "realistic". Meanwhile the main reason of gaming was escape from reality but pfff Can't even play for fun without Twitter or devs who gets mad that people want enjoy good looking characters men and female...

The soda can nerd probably thought Yandev’s 1 bajillion polygon toothbrush was a good idea lmao
Optimize***
Really?

😡😡😡" or "How DARE you use art to comment on politics and social issues!" or "HOW DARE YOU INCLUDE [Gender Affirming Feature]"
They're just... Stupid. They're stupid. If they aren't looking at polygons of a soda can and refusing to think "Oh hey, lowering the texture on models that don't need high polygons will save a lot of space on people's consoles and make the game run smoother, while giving us more space to work and make new, more fantastical visuals!
This is probably the best take on glitchy games I’ve ever heard.
Top tier vid man.
the problem with gaming nowadays is the fact the fandoms act very childish most of the time like Anime fans they act like their fav game/anime is perfect but everything else is a Downgrade bec they say so, which is super weird 😭
Those kinds of fans makes it seem like it's impossible to like several different things. What, just because I happen to love Game X, does that mean I should hate Game Y?
Fallout: New Vegas fans are really bad about that.

>remember when video games were an escape from life and it’s concerns
Right because games like Fallout, Call of Duty, Bioshock and Metal Gear have never had any political undertones or real world analogues
They did there were also video games that didn't.
The games that did most of the time did commentary better

Scarlet and Violet have a myriad of problems, but Balloons on a giant lizard is like... Nothing?
"Focking Pwonouns!"
Yeah I don't know why customization options rile people up so much. It's like... bro, you made the character.
@@henrynelson9301 The problem is often with the "pronoun" character creators is the devs cut corners and we lose out on other body types and end up with just "feminine and masculine"
Very few games that changed "male and female" to "body type 1 or 2" went the direction of Baldur's Gate 3 and actually kept "buff and thin" versions of each gendered body type even allowing you to select genitals on most races, the problem is BG3 is the exception to the rule, a majority of the time they're just swapping "male and female" with "A and B" or "1 and 2" and in many cases just leaving it at that.

WHAT is bro yammering about?! I literally hated the parts in Insomniac’s Spider-Man where they forced you to stumble around as Miles or MJ. I couldn’t imagine how bored I’d be with a Spider-Man game where you just walk around the city💀💀
These people aren't exclusive to the gaming community, people in general are like this. You just see the gaming community acting like this more often is because they are terminally online.

Let's be honest, what is Spider-Man without the New York lifestyle? Especially pizza time?
_Especially_ pizza time.
6:59 the nonchalant fade into nothing 😂
The answer to happiness is not going on twitter.
8:50 BRO THAT CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD, You played the fancy pants death sound HAHAHA
"You can't go to Cony Island and enjoy the worlds famous Nathan's Hotdog." Reads like a video game dunkey quote
It’s funny as hell that when I’m playing any fallout or elder scrolls game, when a body flies across the sky I don’t even think of it as a bug, it’s a feature.
Whats worse is when they pull out some crazy ass conspiracy to why they complain
IMAGINE CREATING A CHARACTER THAT MAKES YOU VISCERALLY UPSET AND THEN COMPLAIN THAT YOU MADE IT??
Literally making up a person to get mad at lmao
"Then why did you ASK for it?"
Twitter!
literally a subway "brother you made the sandwich" moment
They were mad that the option to make a character that doesnt look like them existed at all
Those men be crying and seething over a videogame character having some peach fuzz like litteraly the whole earth population and calling it "unrealistic" but I bet they'd call a woman wanting a guy taller than her and somewhat fit someone with "unrealistic expectations"
And yet, somehow none of you blink an eye when they still hold the same stereotypes with fictional men. Muscular more then even 90% of men. 😂
But hey I'm not complaining about that fictional main character looks like that. But it gives you wonders of why they start to make female characters "realistic".
Meanwhile the main reason of gaming was escape from reality but pfff
Can't even play for fun without Twitter or devs who gets mad that people want enjoy good looking characters men and female...
@@j.LuciusLark”escapism” is the same excuse used by the guy who screamed about pronouns in Starfield. It’s just not a good faith argument.
the fact people are crying about stuff that you wouldn't even find if you had played the game correctly is actually sad
I believe Value themselves during play testing for Portal, players kept getting lost, so having obvious markers in the game is important.
VideoGameDunkey has done irreparable damage to the gaming community. Any glitch/bug/weird looking thing in a game is now an unforgivable sin that ruins the game because of him.
Dunkey really makes you feel like CinemaSins
Do people buy games to play them anymore? Or do they just buy them to actively search for and complain about the most minuscule bullshit
That’s what I’m thinking!
Yes, you're just actively looking for those people
Thanks for making this video, Ari.
Whenever I'm feeling down, I'll remember this video and be happy that, despite the fact I lack bitches and am relatively no life, I'm not as bad as these people.
(i get happy when seing the downfall of others, schadenfreude style)
I play video game just for fun.
BASED
Same
These people would be the best bug testers because they do the most obscure things that no rational person would try in that game
i miss when glitch hunters looked for major glitches, told the devs if it was bad, or made a mod to fix it.
0:47 bro at that point go outside, jesus christ 😂😂😂
Man really wants a spiderman game to be a city simulator
Namaste!
You have a great point about these whiny crybabies.
It is true though that games are worse than they used to be and it's been true for a while.
I can just go back and play the old ones and nothing stopping me from legitimately enjoying the new ones where they are good.
I do just play the game but when I am not in the game I can appreciate it and criticize it. Both in equal measure.
Love and blessings!
I remember getting to the part where Peter and Harry ride their bikes together and running into a potted plant, then getting glitched into the ground, needing to restart from the last checkpoint. Then, while I was flying around the city with the wingsuit, I lost my speed and crash-landed into the intersection of the wall and the balcony of a building, clipping inside of the wall.
I didn't hate the game and start posting about it on Twitter. In fact, it made me actually enjoy the game even more.
this dude ari is mad underrated, you caught me off guard and made me die laughing a few times when you said "bro was looking at soda cans", "90% of thje game you spend f###ing FLYING!" I was weakk
I remember back in the day people were making fun of one of the Final Fantasy games because they were bragging about how many polygons random props like plants had. I wonder how different that conversation would be if that game came out today.
6:18 the time of his death actually
People used to glitch hunt to find fun and silly things. Now, they glitch hunt to make themselves angry.
crowbat has done irreversible damage to the gaming community
How?
Elaborate.
crowbat when theres an unnoticed flaw that doesnt affect gameplay in any mean or form:

ever since that hairstyles video i have been hooked on your channel, good shit man :3
I love glitchy games. My whole childhood was glitchy games. I think the ONLY problem with games I have now a days, is that if the glitches make the game unplayable, or a nuisance of some kind. Like I still constantly play skyrim and mass effect.
Marvel be like anyone can be Spider-Man
Twitter be like but spider man is white ☝🏻🤓
Miles, Miguel, and Pav: 👁👁
That's what Twitter (Xitter) does to your brain, removes any idea of common sense, empathy, and morality
Nah cuz they're actually racist too 😭😭😭
@@SillyRiz Elon wanted freedom of speech for those who harm people
Miles being announced as the new main Spider-Man might've outed just how many Spider-Man fans might genuinely be racist
This mans comedic timing through his editing is fucking perfect for me 😭
just consume product and then get exited for next product in a nutshell....
3:38 these kinds of people will have probably been gaming for 10 or so years and failed to realize this may be someone's first game that isn't aware of how games work
"And their concerns were just black people" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
