1:31:02 Honestly it really sucks that Newman crashed in qualifying and struggled with a crap backup car (a rebodied chassis from 2001 no less) in that race, given that the #12 team at that point seemed to be figuring out the then-new Charger with a strong run at Charlotte (albeit running poorly at Atlanta due in no small part to it being an impound race, which was the #12 team's biggest Achilles heel especially with the contrast in weather/track conditions between night qualifying and a day race). Due to being eliminated from title contention going into Homestead, the #12 team would test the 2004 Intrepid there, run well with it that day, and then make the biggest mistake they ever made as a team---attempt to run the Intrepid at the intermediate tracks in 2006, even as other teams (notably Evernham) figured out the Charger and Kahne dominated the intermediates in 2006 (while Penske fell months behind on car development due to attempting to run the Intrepid, slumping severely in performance and ultimately causing Matt Borland to leave due to frustration, thereby crippling Newman's career and ending a driver/crew chief combo that could have contested Jimmie Johnson's late 2000s domination)...honestly I think that if Newman didn't crash in qualifying at the 2005 Dickies 500 (after winning the pole no less), the #12 team could have finished in the top 5, entered Homestead mathematically in title contention (for the first time in Newman's career), and thus Penske would have (if they even ran an Intrepid AT ALL) run the #2 of Wallace or #77 of Kvapil as an Intrepid, kept the use of it STRICTLY a one-off for testing purposes rather than make the knee-jerk reaction of trying to run it on intermediates based on ONE good race with it, and worked with Evernham and Ganassi to truly FIGURE OUT the Charger---and I reckon that Newman could have, in such an alternate scenario, won at least almost as many races as Kahne did in 2006 (especially as throughout 2003-2005, the #12 team was consistently the best Dodge team), continued his reign of terror in qualifying, and become a serious threat for the title, both in that year and the year after (also with Borland staying as his crew chief and Dodge NOT changing the nose of the Charger due to better overall performance from the Dodge teams)...

As an Iracer, if it comes anything close to the physics, damage, and track models, I will be happy. But Motorsport Games being involved really has me worried. Adding ARCA, Trucks, and Xfinity does give me a little bit of faith though.

Dirt to Daytona came out in 2002, not 2003. There was only two NASCAR games that came out that year, Thunder 2004 and NR 2003.

iRacing has no reason to make a good game that would encroach on the territory of their title game. So they are either going to make a mediocre game or one that DLC's you to death. They also have to make it playable with console controllers so that it can reach a broader audience.

Another problem is that final lap crashes in this race have become way more common in this era than ever before. From 1959-2000, it only happened twice in 1976 and 1979, two of the most famous finishes in the race's history. From 2001 to today in 2025, it's happened 14 times now. Stages and Engine power limits have played a massive part in that.

Dont be part of the change and fall for the algorithm. Be the change and it will be worth it in the long run man.

To be honest here, with the amount of controversies that iRacing has been involved in regarding misleading claims of their game being as realisitic as possible, there's a lot to worry about in my opinion. Austin Ogonoski has pointed this out years ago. In fact, there have even been some accounts of iRacing's models being so terrible that even professional drivers called them out. Conor Daly, Josef Newgarden, David Perel, Scott Pye, Scott McLaughlin, Scott Dixon, Niki Thiim, Clint Bowyer, Chase Elliott, and many others have called iRacing out on their misleading claims. There was even a time where Gen 7 cars were getting faster times than GT3 cars at some tracks which is not possible with the real world counterpart.

people could easily be lying but the dev diaries released by iracings youtube channel has had people on it saying its already looking phenomenal even though it was nearly a year from release. in my opinion if this game is half decent, then it would be a BIG step up from nascar ignition and the other nascar switch exclusive games. it just needs good handling, an ai that actually works, working online mode, and a good career mode.

The last decade of NASCAR games were worthless. After 09 they just got worse and worse. I grew up playing NASCAR Thunder so I was spoiled. After playing the Thunder games the games after NASCAR 15 were vomit inducing and were so poorly done it’s embarrassing to NASCAR. They felt like Oregon trail compared to the Thunder games.

We don't need another NASCAR "game"! We need another "stand alone" racing simulator that people don't have to pay a subscription to use with one-line game play that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to participate in with realistic AI competitors and racing dynamics that actually work! That's why the Papyrus version was so popular and has been around for so long - because it was what simulated racing was supposed to be and they got it right. Was it perfect? Of course not! But it was pretty damn close! Way closer than anyone else ever got to the real thing!

It too well fail in the eyes of many.... if the WoO game taught us anything, it's this.... this will be a monster games racing game not iracing..... it will be nascar heat 6.... which nobody asked for.... it will contain iracing assets such as cars and tracks but will still pay like the heat games.... it's still monster games.... heck I bet it's even still gonna be the unity engine

It's so sad how many people are so misinformed about this new game. I racing is not making the game They are a name on the game. It's a completely different company. Monster games is producing this with their devs, with their code. This is not going to be the I racing. game from the P C

I am confident that iracing will deliver a reasonable game. It may not be spectacular but it will be better than what we've had recently. As a ps5 gamer, I can't comment on pc experiences but I imagine they take a similar route as the world of outlaws series that was quite successful on console.

I think it's completely fair to be skeptical of the next game. The last 2 EA games were not good, the Eutechnyx games were fine but relatively mediocre and lacked substance, the Heat series started off bad but did get better over time, and then ofc the massacre of 2021. If you're a company that hasn't had a beloved game for over twodecades? You need to severely reevaluate yourself. Some people have said it in this comment section though, if they can make some pretty good WoO games, the NASCAR game will be fine, especially since a lot of their time, money, and assets in iRacing is NASCAR related. I don't expect a lot necessarily, but this game has been under development for roughly 2 years or so now, it would extremely disappointing if we, at the minimum, don't have all three national touring series. This is the release year, we shall see in the coming months how this game looks, how it's presented, and how it plays, we'll know if it's good game before too long.

NASCAR the game franchise had major AI bugs. Car handling was fine but you’d be run over by the computer drivers.

In my opinion NASCARheat games are great maybe not as good as some of this others but it holds a special place in my hart
