Thanks for tuning into my UA-cam channel. Most of what you see here is related to my 46 years of fishing for a living through guiding on the Great Lakes, Central Florida and Gulf of Mexico. I hosted and produced my tv series “Jim Hanley's Northeast Outdoors” for 17 years. It appeared on the Outdoor Channel, Empire Sports Network, Fox Sports Digital as well as local affiliates in Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. i started fishing in BASS events in 1978 and competed until 2005 when my right arm finally gave out from casting thousands of times a day. I was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and am honored to be the first fisherman to be given that honor.

Typical Michigan stock
Thanks for watching
Not a plane around eather but you got a couple chem- trails
Umm ok.
Everything reminds me of her
Ha. Good one
"Omg he unalived the fish" -some dickhead
Your complaining over nothing!! He a respectable distance.
This boat was passing us at full speed as one of my clients was reeling in a fish and he stopped in his tracks. He sat down about 40 feet from us and dropped lines. He stayed there until I pulled out my phone to video him and moved to where you see him, which is about 150 feet away. He had out of state registration so we know he had no idea of what we were fishing. Not another boat within miles of us. It's become more and more prominent as on the water courtesy fades... thanks for watching
Does this harm the fish?
Not at all.
Same thing on the Canadian side haha always others trying to sit on me numbas
Happens more all the time. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks OG been cutting my line for a year to switch cranks Ordering some snaps now!! Much appreciated
Glad it helped. Appreciate the kind words.
Nice job!! Made it look so easy.
Thanks so much
Avon skin so soft lotion. Laugh now. Thank me later 🤘🏼
Tried it for those flies and wish It had worked. Only deet works to keep them away.
Be careful not to cut yourself lol .. meanwhile chopping jugulars
I count to make sure I have all my fingers after each time.
@@JimHanelyfishingyea I thought it was funny how you said look out for his gill lol 😂
@tyleropshinsky ever get cut by a walleye gill plate? It will cut you as deep a box cutter.
He's a little more than 40 ft away. Relax don't be so tight if something happened and you needed help you would sure appreciate him being right there now wouldn't you
Ha. Thanks for watching
Now back up you pulled the boat up too far
It’s exactly where it needs to be but thanks for the comment.
Is that also a way to bleed trout too? I know you gut trout but there’s bleeding in that process too right?
Yep. It will work the same way Thanks for the great question
The only way we filet 👌🏼
Thanks for watching
That's exactly what I do....I have the Cuda clippers too....awesome!
They are an awesome tool. I even use them for cutting wire line we use to catch sharks in the Gulf of Mexico with the little notch on the outside. Thanks for watching. Hope you use them so much they need to be sharpened!!
It's like elk hunting you have to hunt where you see the elk. 😂 hunters
So that’s how it works. Thanks for the comment
Idk the filets look pretty much the same as any walleye I've cleaned. Guess I'll have to try it and see for myself.
Yep. You’ll see a big difference. Thanks for watching
You see, he knew that you know where all the good fish are.😅
Yes he did. Thanks for the feedback.
This is great advice! Unfortunately some vehicles will not allow for this, about 3-4 years ago I had an older truck and if I backed in too far my exhaust would go under the water, I dealt with that for about a year and then after a wile it got old having to crank my boat up so I got a new truck that I was able to back down further into the water!
It looks like I’m backing into the water but my tires are the only thing that’s getting wet. Wheels and brakes never get wet. Appreciate the great comment.
Fuckin brutal but great advice
Ha. Yep.
Nice tip
Thanks. It was because of the great camera work
I always wondered this I know people say to bleed trout but is this a process you should do for all fish you are eating?
I’d say yes as it makes all fillets so much whiter and more appetizing Thanks for the great question.
I like how he said we not open on Sunday its the Lords day 👌
Yes Sir. Neither of us work on His Lords day. Appreciate the great feedback.
Still haven’t punched this real man card yet. Dude i’d still be trying to back that shiz up ha!! ✊🏽
Ha. Thanks for watching
Didn’t know jump starters were called hotshots.
That’s what I call it…seems to fit. Thanks for the comment
Been doing this for ever. It’s the way to go. In and out. Definitely have people who camp in the launch ramp
Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it
So no different than any other fish that swims.
Yep. Thanks for watching
Great information thanks for taking the time to shoot this video. 👍
Glad you liked it. Appreciate the kind words.
Thanks Do all my own basic maintenance and just picked up a verado. Getting up to speed on these beasts
Great motor. Keep up on the maintenance and she will run for a long time. Thanks for watching.
40 ft my a$$.. More like 40 yards!

Depends on boat my wake boat needs the trailer in the water more.
Thanks for the input
Hell yeah great way to twist ur line Lee doing ur thang
It’s braid and it doesn’t twist. Thanks for watching.
I have a ton of fun backing my Bass Raider 10e on a 4x8 flat Harbor Freight trailer onto the ramp 🤣🤣 Can't see it in the mirrors or over the tailgate. As long as i can't see it in the mirrors, i figure I'm straight enough to get it in. Back-up camera helps in the daylight, not so much in the dark
Ha. Good one.
Great informative video. I've backed in many trailers that weren't mine, for unloading and loading over the years and learned these things early on. You figure things out the more you do it. It's always easiest to back in a little too far, hang out the door and wait for the boat driver telling you to pull up a little, rather than play the back n forth bs. If you're doing this on your own, you'll figure out pretty quick where your trailer should be for proper loading.
Awesome. Thanks for the great comment
my boat launch says no power loading so that wont work
Thanks for the feedback
most launches no power loading
Thanks for watching
The only way it should be done...
Thanks for the positive comment.
@@JimHanelyfishing you're welcome, my uncle does it like this, even though he has a speed boat, you still need to do that, because it's hard to get it up the trailer with it not fully wet
They should make an extended gooseneck where the hitch goes that you can slide out and slide back in this way when you launched in the boat you can extend it out about 3 ft and when you're ready to tow it you shrink it back up
Sounds like a great invention. Let me know you have it for sale.
Hottake
Thanks for sharing
Remember to put your parking brake on. The dude in this vid just throws it in park and calls it good.
Ha. Didn’t realize you could see inside my truck when I set my brake. That’s Funny as Ram trucks automatically throw the emergency brake on if you open the door while still in drive or the truck moves. Thanks for watching
@@JimHanelyfishing Cool feature. But you can see the truck roll back onto the pin before the parking brake even gets set. They are electric and take at least a full second to engage. On ram you will feel the brake pedal travel further down at the brake engagement happens.
@barsaf9989 💯 on the money. You know your trucks. When changing the rear pads we had to put power to the calipers in order for the piston to retract to install the new pads. I turned wrenches for the years prior to fishing full time. Helps a lot and saves tons of $$ with all the crap that breaks in this business!
I might be wrong but i believe your bunks are loose every bunk trailer I’ve seen hasn’t had moving bunks. But I’ve also only been around custom built trailers for so called “hot” boats. In our case we are running 2.5l and inboard outboards with lower units worth more than your boat itself so we will never be power loading(because of the turned up shit) I like how you dip your trailer. But power loading does leave divots that I’ve seen people hit. But some ramps are designed for it and it works great. The only downside you have is it it will prematurely wear the carpet. But you fully dip it to help prevent that. It wears faster because of the angle with the engine you don’t let the boat slide up the bunk like designed.
That flex is a normal thing to see on “bunk” trailer. They are 9 feet long and are supported at each end and designed to take the shape of the boats hull as its drive on. Thanks for the feedback.
I call them seagulls
Ha. That fits.
I personally wouldn’t take this advice. I tighten the drag all the time while I’m fighting fish. I think a better piece of advice would be to get familiar with your equipment before trying it
As a guide on the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico for the last 46 years, I've seen it all, so I'm sharing with you my experiences. Countless times when fishing with the tiny #10 hooks I use to get more bites, due to the crystal clear water of Lake Erie, we keep our drags set very light, or the extremely small hooks will bend or pull out on the hook set or the fight. Leaving the drag loose is the only way we can land most of them. I've witnessed countless fish come off when the drag is tightened at the wrong time. The video shows a very excited client cranking way too fast, causing the drag to slip more than usual. At The speed he is reeling, if I had tightened the drag, I can almost guarantee that smallie would have come off. This channel is all about sharing my many years of being on the water and the situations I've been in. Thanks for the feedback.
just crank it at that point
Why? Thanks for watching.
I go a a tiny bit deeper than that and walk it on with the ropes barely cranking much
Thanks for watching
Walleye beef hooked,
Huh. Thanks for watching
@@JimHanelyfishing A little play on words. " Well I'll be f#%ked" lol
No shame in using the winch. That's what it's for. For those complaining about having to wait, you need to get over your entitled selves. Better to wait a few minutes than to have someone attempt a power load and crash into and destroy the dock, another boat, or end up pulling their tow vehicle and trailer into the lake. All of which would cause you impatient princess to have to wait even longer.
Thanks for watching
Hey Jim! Cwaler lol!
Ha. Yep. Maybe had too many pops before he posted.
