Hey! 👋 My name is Viet
A white collar office dron in his late 30's from Vietnam. Spent my best years following common path set by society. Study hard then work hard.
Shortly after turning 30 I realized i wasn't happy with my life. So I quitted smoking and started doing calisthenics.
Reaching my goal of 10 pull ups in a year taught me, that there is more in life than 9-5 work.
From that moment on, my journey towards more creative endeavours began.
In this channel, I want to overcome my fears, social anxiety and document my journey through camera lenses.
Thank you for stopping by, and don't hesitate to contact me through social media.

Brompton Fruit Stand 🇫🇷 Stealth Camping | Eurovelo 8 | S1-E33
In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as...
At 8 am, I woke up in a natural park locarted somewhere in the heart of Provence. The night before had been quiet, leading me to oversleep. Morning came slowly as I waited for the tent to dry from the dew, a small price to pay for camping in the middle of the forest.
Today's mission was simple: drive to Apt, for its water point and the promise of a McDonald's meal. The journey began with a pleasant surprise as I rode past an open goat farm chilling by the roadside, unfazed by my presence.
The terrain became hilly, challenging my temper as I pushed my bike uphill. However, the effort was well worth it. Scenic towns on hills made me to pause and capture their beauty through my camera lens.
In Reillanne, I indulged in a breakfast of champions-a fresh French baguette,. As the day grew hotter, I found relief in the sporadic shades along the road.
The road to Apt unfolded into a nice, straight cycleway, a cyclist's dream. Yet, I was thinking about the absence of fellow bike tourers in the countryside, only encountering them on busy state roads. Were they not attrracted by the scenic route, or were they simply racing through, skipping what they thought as mundane?
Upon reaching Apt, my anticipation for a unhealthy meal was met with disappointment-no big burgers were to be found at McDonald's. The route thereafter was straightforward, dotted with many bike stops.
By evening, I found myself in Cavaillon, civilization greeting me at a lower altitude with bamboos and canals lining the route-a picturesque setting, albeit likely a haven for mosquitoes and a reminder of the narrow roads.
Desperation set in as I stumbled upon an empty fruit stand. With no cars in sight, I took a chance on stealth camping. I concealed my Brompton inside and hid behind the stand, awaiting the sunset's to pitch my tent.
Darkness became my ally as I sneaked back, setting up my tent. The plan was to wake up early, evading the fruit stand's owners. My mind, however, was already racing ahead, contemplating how to navigate the impending thunderstorms.

Is Windows 11 Faster Than MacOS on Mac Mini 2014?
I’ve been watching all your touring videos. Great editing, keep up the good work.
Thanks for motivation!
Nice stretch of the Eurovelo. Great scenery. And a more quiet camping spot this time, at least from the looks of it :)
Quite is relative, but would exchange wilderness sounds for car traffic noise any time :D
Hi, when you go inside supermarkets like Aldi, do you take your bicycle and bags with you in the shopping cart or lock it up outside? How do you manage security in these situations?
Hi, since I have C bag and dufflebag, I can either trolley into supermarket - pushing and balancing it is cumbersome and hard to carry food and sometimes they wont let you in, because your brompton looks dirty (happened in Italy). Second option is to leave all outside, lock it with Ulock+cable, cover bags with dirty clothes and bring all electronics with you in a backpack. Depends on your sense of security at that moment. If I shop at sketchy hood in Marseille, I either wont shop or roll all in. In countryside, I risk more and lock brompton outside.
@@VietPhan hi again, thanks for taking a moment to reply. Yes, I guess I need to be able to be aware of the situation and risks. I appreciate your answer and ideas, these are things no one talks about - cheers.
3:44 😡 ¡No actualizan la información!
Did you just leave your bike locked outside at the intermarche?
Its always a risk and I am still not comfortable doing that, but sometimes, outside of big cities, risk of theft is quite low - I am putting my dirty pants on c bag, pack my solar panel and go inside
@VietPhan Ya it occured to me today that I can disguise it if I need to lock my brompton outside. Pretty simple if it's not loaded and can fold it down. It's actually much easier to protect your wheels too as you can lock both wheels with one U lock once folded. I've done some research in the past 2 days and found double locking is really the best strategy within cities but when bike touring I know you gotta keep weight down so it's tough. If I don't have a good plan for storage though on a trip then I won't hesitate to travel with 2 locks. I also just remembered that in most supermarkets I could just throw it in the grocery cart too if they are against me rolling it around.
yeah, loaded brompton is rollable inside supermarket if you have just front bag. If left outside, I experienced that people do notice a parked brompton and are curious.
Хорошая зарядка, супер быстрая зарядка держится всегда на первом порту хоть три подключить, остальные 2 одновременно заряжают быстро и то супер быстрый
Great idea! Can I have the size of the screws please 😁
hi Viet! We are two friend cycling and we are reaching Marseille tomorrow and then we wanna head to Genova through the coastline. I was wandering if you did something similar what was the experience regarding car traffic since it seems like the EV8 is not fully completed. Looking forward for your next episodes just had to ask 😅
Hi, thanks for asking. Its not clear if you travel east to Genova in Swiss or somewhere else. I cannot comment on route outside EV8, but coastline part from Nice to Ventimiglia is busy and narrow as most coastal roads. You will be fine though as I didn't noticed any lorries or big trucks.
Good vid my man. Stay safe out there!
Thanks, will do!
Hey Viet, When I saw your "Scammed" headline, I thought you'd been scammed out of something of high value like your Brompton. When I saw you were actually referring to a McDonald's Mcflurry ice cream, I just couldn't stop laughing! 🤣🤣🤣
Believe me, at that moment it felt hard like losing Brompton :DDD
🕶 cool McDonald's 😡 noooot cool.
Agree :D
Looks like the veggie can is plastic coated inside. Take care. If looking for water in Europe go to the cemetery of the village/town. Usually you will find a tap near to a entrance there. Thanks for sharing! :)
If you spent 25€ for McDonald you should at least try one time to eat a "plate de jour" in a regular restaurant. It will be much cheaper than the fast food and for sure much better.
Wonderful tips. Thank you. Will avoid fine cuisine cans unless its cheap lunchmeat :D. plate de jour sounds like good alternative, I am just afraid to not feel full for 25 :D
@@VietPhan At least in some places you should be able to get two times the plate de jour for 25€ ;) Nowadays they cost between 12 and 16 (I mostly traveled the south of France)
I used to use little notebooks. I still have them. No help to you obviously.
Thats neat, great idea to jot down thoughts into little notebook at end of the day.
Delighted you realised that Italian resort beaches are not the best places to stealth camp. Tried that once near Rimini and was awoken during the night by a group of young men threatening to kick my head in. I think most of those beaches are privately owned and they don`t take kindly to outsiders trespassing on their property.
Sad to hear about your experience in Rimini. Can imagine that in party area like that its even more dangerous than in peaceful family vacation towns. Did you camp with bike too?
@@VietPhan It was nearly 35 years ago. I was travelling with an old racing bike and heavy military surplus tent and sleeping bag. No cooking gear and not much more than a change of clothes, water bottle, a torch and a map of Italy. Very little decent camping gear here in Ireland at the time , and what was available was very expensive. But Italy was slower back then, so i reckon your modern trip was harder and more stressful than mine. Good luck on your travels, you are a brave and adventorous young man. Loving your videos.
Great videos. What solar panel is that? Do you still use it?
Thanks for question. Its Big Blue, bought it on Amazon and is just enough to keep phone alive on sunny day.
The 80s music was great 👍
Was positively surprised local folks grooved on oldies disco
Your channel is incredibly inspiring! I recently came across your adventures and have really enjoyed following your journey. If you ever find yourself in the very south of Belgium, let me know-I have a sturdier phone holder for you.😊
Thank you for watching. Would love to bike to belgium in the future, had fond memories of brussel and brugge.
Hi Viet, quite an adventure you're having. I'm so far only following others' adventures from the comfort of my couch. Just sharing some tips from those other bike travellers, hoping it will be useful: Keep an eye open for churches and graveyards, because they often/always have water taps (for example for watering the flowers). Also, I noticed you camped by the road twice. Maybe you can start looking out for a spot to camp 1 hour before you want to stop. And stop at the first spot that looks OK (safe and quiet). Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels with kind people along your way.
Hi, thanks for watching and tips. Those are hard earned lessons that will improve survivability :D. Its always trade off between detouring to get something with 50% chance or continuing and maybe getting lucky with 5% chance :D. As of now 1hour rule is non negotiable, as riding at night is no fun :).
A****.
Good job. Looking forward to your next episode!
Thank you for watching and motivation!
9:50 😱
😅
How do you charge your stuff!
I carry two powerbanks and a solar panel. Enough to charge phone, not enough to charge all cameras indefinitely :D
@@VietPhan oh wow on a Brompton even 🤠
So lucky 😍
the white van at 2:16 passed you way too close. hopefully that doesn't happen too often. thanks for sharing!
Vans are dangerous everywhere in the world haha. Although french vans feels more patient. Got lucky this time :)
Gracias por compartir tu viaje. Cannes me ha parecido muy bonito. Y no te puedes fiar de Eurovelo8. 😊
Thanks for watching :)
Here another one with a Mac Mini late 2014, 8 GB RAM, switched to NVME SSD and Windows 11. You won't believe how fast this this runs compared to MAC OS.
It was surprising, but worth a try. Now Mac Mini late 2014 will last for another decade and my dad is happy browsing and youtubing on it.
What is your plan for this tour? What is your final destination with your Brompton? And what do you plan after the tour? Do you plan going back to a 9-5 job? Or keep on touring forever?
Might be a topic for whole video :D I am not keen on being homeless indefinitely.
Hey I’m wondering if you’re still using with the brooks saddle? Is it more comfy to ride than previously? And for longer distances?
Hi, I would rank brooks saddle to be number one upgrade for long distance touring. Your ass is going to be sore the same way, but with less bruises and you will be able to sit on it for longer, even whole day if needed, whiles original saddle was too painful to sit for longer than 15 minutes.
Nice video. thanks ❤
Thank you too
Do you need 6mm diameter screws for fitting these wheels? And what length do you need?
I alsl tried those skater wheels and yes, they roll very, very good. A huge improvement! Unfortunately, with my rather large (>UK 10) I constantly hit these wheels with my heels. Their additional width, over the stock ones, caused this. So I had to remove them.
How do you know how fast you go on Brompton?
Komoot shows your speed. Not sure how accurate it is.
Bueno
Been watching this for a while and i amazed on how unprepared this guy is, not having basic brompton skills to change a flat and tune the bike. On the flip side goes to show how sturdy the bike is. Anyhow well done for the trip and hope it gets easier.
All fair points. Although had much easier time getting flat on mountain bike than on brompton. There should exist some kind of brompton university for normies.
Nice has a 'nice' bike-path!👌
Nice indeed :)
Hi Viet Phan, your overnight stay in the toilet reminded me of a scene in Will Smith's film 'The Pursuit of Happyness'. The difference was your toilet was a lot more luxurious :) Great video! When are you posting the next episode?
Hi, thanks for motivation. Funny you mention The Pursuit of Happyness. That movie helped me a lot during some dark times. Although looking back at that toilet scene, Will had much spacier room to lay down :D. As for editing videos, summer is gonna be slower :(.
I thought you swapped out the default Brompton roller wheels with an inline skate wheels? Why did u swapped back to Brompton roller wheels?
Cool man
Thanks man, enjoyed your Hanoi video. Keep going
@@VietPhan nice one bro. Thanks for watching! 🙌
Great idea. Skater rolls are design to take heigh weight, so they could be much better than the Bromptpn rolls. Thx a lot !
No prob. Just be ready to it to be ugly. Sometimes I contemplate over thin metalic easy wheels, that looks much slicker :D
I searched for recent stealthcamping videos and found this video of you. I really like this video and I will scroll through your channel. Do you plan to bike through Belgium too? Cheers from a fellow stealthcamper. 👍
Thank you for stopping by. Glad to see someone stealth camp in europe too. From your videos it seems your adventures are much more thrilling, well documented and on the edge :)...as for Belgium, I might visit during eurovelo 4,5 or 19. But based on your videos, I might skip stealth camping :D
@@VietPhanThanks for the compliments! 🫡 If you pass eurovelo 19 it's closest to home. If you seek campingspots there, I can give you some tips. It is not too hard to stealthcamp here in Belgium, it's just me searching for trouble. 😋 I heard the Netherlands is harder and have bigger fines. Cheers, I'll keep following your channel
Wonderful journey 😊
Indeed 🙂
Allí había muchos coches caros... pero tú tienes una Brompton. No está mal. Haha👌
En ese momento no cambiaría mi brompton por un auto de lujo :D
Awesome. That backpack! No rack on the bike?
A bit big and heavy yea. But you get used to it :). There is rear rack on my brompton, just wide enough to balance a big duffle bag. Still have to fix position frequently,
What is up with the color with your cam?
Dunno, might be corrupted files during compresssion

This is my goal by the end of this summer for when I get my brompnot. I took a folding bike with 0 ability to climb hills to Switzerland last year and I ended up walking up all the hills instead but no insanely tall peaks, just through valleys around Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. Stealth camping was quite fun, glad I invested in a hooped bivy as it takes 2 seconds to set up and would make it through any tough storm switzerland has to offer.
Sounds like a great plan. Lets us know how it went. I still yet to find a thunderstorm proof bivy, care to share a link?
@@VietPhan I think links are blocked. Google: PL poln. Armee Biwacksack 121/DKWS Callida I bought it direct from a supplier for much less but check out what it looks like. It's a tad bulky due to its strong materials so I don't carry a tent, just a small tarp for extra headroom if needed. I wouldn't say any bivy is fun in a thunderstorm (nor lightning proof lol), but ya I wouldn't worry about this one, especially since it has 3 vents you can use to circulate air so you're not sweating like crazy like in a trash bag. You can also keep your sleeping bag inside it and just roll it up like a burrito. There's another video on youtube of guys demonstrating that, just search "bivy as a bedroll". When you're done, roll it back up and leave. No 30 minute set up/take down.

@@VietPhan My bivy is a bit pricey (although I got it heavily discounted directly from supplier) but I'd also recommend the snugpack ionosphere for some more room or check out MLD SOLO BIVY or eVent Bivy or the Trekmates Squall. But honestly my bivy is excellent for ventilation, low profile, durability, easy entrancem, and lookout window.
Those look so uncomfortable. Do you have advice for more bottom comfort on bikes
What do you mean by bottom comfort? Like saddle?
@@VietPhan yep the butt lol
I did some research and here are few tips I found: Brooks leather saddle + Titanium seat post + Padded shorts + no pain no gain mindset. Gonna try with Brooks saddle first lol
@@VietPhan ok thanks 👍
In Nice you will find a Brompton official dealer
That would solve a lot of problems
Play grounds of the rich and famous. If you have to ask how much, you cannot afford it. Btw it's pronounced Mon-ton.
Good to know. Seemed like other world.
