  • In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as...
The day started at a cozy BnB, where I woke up to favorable weather until 5 pm - but little did I know, a storm of challenges awaited me.
Back on my trusty Brompton, I embarked on a quest to cycle to Turin before rain starts, pushing through hilly terrains that offered breathtaking views of Northern Italy. A questionable climb led to an underwhelming panorama, but a nearby water fountain provided a much-needed break.
As I pedaled on, I stumbled upon a parking lot with an even better view, marveling at locals constructing houses atop hills. The thought of grocery shopping and conquering those hills daily seemed daunting.
A long descent brought me to a grocery store where I replenished with cola and snacks, having survived on empty calories for breakfast. Navigating through gravel swampy areas, I steered clear of highways, only to find myself on narrow, busy regional roads full of trucks. Off-road attempts led to dead ends, forcing me back onto the bustling state road.
Approaching Turin proved challenging, with no cycling infrastructure, dead ends, and busy state roads to contend with. A pitstop at a bus station fueled me for the final stretch.
As the outskirts of Turin unfolded, I encountered a one-way bridge and 20 cows casually grazing in a garden next to the cycle path - a surreal sight! With 7 km left to the city center, I marveled at the vastness of Turin.
My excitement soared as I booked a hotel, but the check-in process took an unexpected turn. An argument with the receptionist over a marketing approval form ensued. Eventually settling into my room, I discovered a disappointing lack of cleanliness. A call from the reception revealed a mistake - an unprepared room. Relocating, I found solace in a quieter space, ready to explore Turin on my Brompton.
Thank you for following my adventure!

It is situated about 60 km (37 mi) east of Turin on the right bank of the Po, where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills. Beyond the river lies the vast plain of the Po valley. The town has been the most important trade and manufacturing centre of the area for centuries. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Casale became a free municipality and, in the 15th and early 16th centuries, served as the capital of the House of Palaiologos.
    Turin:

Just found your channel and I am binge watching all your videos as they are great. You are a very good story teller.
Yes some Italians can take advantage of tourists and rip them off. Many years ago I worked in Verona for 2 years and I often found this being British. The whole time I felt I was being fleeced. But many Italians were lovely, the ones not trying to make money out of you.
I now prefer Spain. The drivers are so much more courteous and careful around cyclists. The Italians are nuts, dangerous in comparison. I am hoping you will ride in Spain.

Just a suggestion, next time you could do this adventure as a group with a rental car and decide who gets to be driver for each day. This way you can have much more supplies stock up as well as camping gears.😊
