    This is my goal by the end of this summer for when I get my brompnot. I took a folding bike with 0 ability to climb hills to Switzerland last year and I ended up walking up all the hills instead but no insanely tall peaks, just through valleys around Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. Stealth camping was quite fun, glad I invested in a hooped bivy as it takes 2 seconds to set up and would make it through any tough storm switzerland has to offer.

      Sounds like a great plan. Lets us know how it went. I still yet to find a thunderstorm proof bivy, care to share a link?

      @@VietPhan I think links are blocked. Google: PL poln. Armee Biwacksack 121/DKWS Callida
      I bought it direct from a supplier for much less but check out what it looks like. It's a tad bulky due to its strong materials so I don't carry a tent, just a small tarp for extra headroom if needed. I wouldn't say any bivy is fun in a thunderstorm (nor lightning proof lol), but ya I wouldn't worry about this one, especially since it has 3 vents you can use to circulate air so you're not sweating like crazy like in a trash bag. You can also keep your sleeping bag inside it and just roll it up like a burrito. There's another video on youtube of guys demonstrating that, just search "bivy as a bedroll". When you're done, roll it back up and leave. No 30 minute set up/take down.

      @@VietPhan My bivy is a bit pricey (although I got it heavily discounted directly from supplier) but I'd also recommend the snugpack ionosphere for some more room or check out MLD SOLO BIVY or eVent Bivy or the Trekmates Squall. But honestly my bivy is excellent for ventilation, low profile, durability, easy entrancem, and lookout window.

    WOW! Subir esa montaña con el peso extra de las bolsas, debe ser horroroso.
    Además, yo no aguanto llevar una mochila a la espalda, por el calor🌞

      A bit big and heavy yea. But you get used to it :). There is rear rack on my brompton, just wide enough to balance a big duffle bag. Still have to fix position frequently,

    You need to fit a 39T front chain ring. Looks to me like you still have the 50T one? Any good bike shop in Italy, France or Switzerland should be able to supply one or Decathlon. Seriously do it. It will transform your Brompton for climbing. It is easy to do, takes 10 minutes. Any bike shop or indeed Decathlon could to it or loan you the tools. You can also shorten the chain by 4 links but I didn't bother. Also carry a spare chain and links just in case your chain breaks which mine did in Malaga, Southern Spain. Lucikly I was still in the city. Some how the quick link came apart and one half fell on the road but I could not find it. I searched for a very long time, but had to stay another night in an Air BnB and visit Decathlon the next morning as it was sunday and everything was closed.
    Seriously get a 39T front chain ring. You don't have to change anything else with the gearing. Your legs will thank you, a lot. You won't have such high gears but this is no problem as you just free wheel, coast, down the descents and you still go very fast.
    What an adventure you are having.
    Fair winds and sunshine to you.

      Wow what a challenge you had to face. Thanks for the advice. Extra chain shouldnt weight much on top of multitools and tubes. Definitely feel my chain skipping so maybe its time for change.

    Did you have the 6 speed brompton? The new 12 speed have one extra lower gear. And combined with a 44T front ring, you can get a decent climbing gear.

    • @VietPhan
      @VietPhan  3 місяці тому
