Your food looks really healthy. Actually, I was wondering in how far you eating habits have changed since moving to Japan and if you can feel any differences? After all, Japanese people are supposed to be so healthy and I think they live longer than Westerners. On the other hand I often ask myself, you if walk less if you have a smaller house and no garden? Or is the same because you can walk to the next bakery, etc.?

One of the sides i like for camping is to have previously baked potstoes. I make sure they are chilled. Once camping i can slice them up and cook on a pan with oil and reasonings, maybe some chopped onion. Makes a yummy side for dinner or breakfast. I have tried to use freshly cooked/baked/boiled potatoes and it didn't work. They were mushy and hard to cook. I like the kittle brown bits on the outside of the potato. My husband thinks I am a miracle worker when i whip up meals like that. We might have a steak and those potatoes and a veg. I have made small pizza's in a pan over heat at the camp site and it was pretty easy. I have cooked meat ahead in BBQ sauce and then heat up at the camp and place on rolls for a sandwich. I live in the US, so we do have burgers and hot dogs too, but that kind of gets old sometimes. I have even cooked pasta and heated up pre-made meat sauce on top, which was pretty easy and tasty too. 😋 with your set up and limited space i would pre cook as much as possible, then have only one main thing that needs cooked when you get there. It still tastes and feels like a complete meal but easier on you.

We like to take potatoes when we are camping. If we have open fire, we do foil wrapped and throw them straight in the coals. Boiled or pre-fried for skillet make for a super easy filling meal. And always hot water and cocoa and soup packets! Easy cleanup!

Consider getting a little pet carrier box for Millie for the drive, you can put the box in the foot area or buckle it down with seatbelts, sort of like a child car seat (if you had to suddenly brake this would keep Millie safe, bless this little cute fur ball) Thank you for this wholesome video

This was great. There's no decent infrastructure like this where I live, no accessories for cars like you've been able to buy. So a little bit envious! When I camp my meals are mostly tea, sandwiches, muesli and yoghurt. I don't take a stove for cooking, but for heating water for tea. Much respect for how you have taken the long view with Millie and gotten her gradually used to all the elements of this, so you can take her wherever you go. Kudos to you.

What a lovely camping trip with Millie! I'm sorry to see the scary decor. Its distressing to me that people want to be entertained by scary stuff. But that aside, wow that campground is great! I'm glad it went so well for you both. I have camped alone (older woman) twice and there are just a couple of places I'd do that. Hoping my brother and sister in law will go to Japan with me next year. Otherwise I'll be there on my own! When my husband was alive we camped pretty rough. One pot meals like chicken and dumplings: can of chicken, dry chicken bullion in water, can of mixed veg, and a biscuit (USA) mix just add water to make dumplings. Boxed macaroni and cheese mix or ramen noodle, again with a can of veg and can of meat thrown in.

A nice easy & hearty breakfast is to bring some instant oatmeal packets - just add boiling water and done! I am a fan of grits (a Southern USA corn porridge) so I bring packets of instant grits along with real bacon bits, shredded cheese & butter to add to the grits. So delicious on a chilly morning and only a bowl to clean afterwards. I use a Jet-Boil to boil water for coffee - so ramen soups and mashed potatoes are a couple of "just add hot water" meal ideas. Add some canned tuna or chicken to the mashed potatoes, along with some shredded cheese and maybe a little sour cream - since you have a fridge that can keep that cool. I loved the dramatic "scary" shots of Millie jumping at the windows after the freaky Halloween walk. Is it really only the end of summer? If so, they jumped ahead a couple of months to set up those decorations!
