The officer Jimmy Fallon played made 8 supply runs to Bastogne, the 6th and 7th runs happened during the Germans assault and the 8th he did after the Germans had cut off Bastogne, meaning he crossed German lines and could have been captured or killed. As he was preparing for a 9th run he was ordered to stand down from his commanding officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star and was nominated for the Medal of Honor for his efforts to help the paratroopers. The officer in question is 2nd Lt. George C. Rice of the 10th Armoured Division

The Clone Wars takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, but it was canceled before it's pretended end, however that animated series explains a lot of the outcome, and why was it for Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith.

I still think it's awesome that they could have Christopher Lee for the role of Count Dooku.

The funny thing is Sifo Djas was said wrong but they dcided to keep it, orignally it was an anagram for Sidious, and was Darth Sidious pretending he was a Jedi Master asking for the clones. But as they carried over with the mistaken name, they finally came up with a different character, and in a way they generated a background for a now dead Jedi Master instead of the original planning.

Really good reaction. They're entering the Battle of the Bulge. More Americans were killed in that battle than in any other battle of WW II. The retreating soldiers were completely taken by surprise in what was Hitler's last gasp effort to reverse the course of the war. You're right; there are some fireworks comming up in the next episodes.

There were different types of units in the SS. Only a few units did the things that are associated with them. Anyone who had special training above basic could be given that designation. This includes snipers, demolition, radio operators, heavy weapons, paratroopers, anyone with special weather training, and the luftwarffe (air force) often had that designation. I'm tired of the ignorance about that time.

9:50 Winters took Liebgott's ammo because he could tell Liebgott was angry and would probably murder the prisoners in cold blood, then claim they were trying to escape. Liebgott wasn't the only guard--just the one that Winters considered dangerous. In the book, it stated that the German prisoners could tell what Liebgott had in mind and were very nervous at the idea of being guarded by him. They were very relieved when Winters stepped in the way he did.

That's insane that the Brits lost 8,000 men at the battle at market garden So many people were lost during this war All because of one madman.

another GREAT reaction guys! As many have noted, the ending scenes were the beginning of the Battle of The Bulge. The Germans made a surprise attack against a quiet sector in the US lines. Some experienced Divisions were there resting and rebuilding and some very inexperienced Divisions were place there to "ease them in" to combat and the weight of the German attack fell on these men. As indicated by another poster, this battle, to this day, is the single largest battle the US army has ever fought in. The next episode is great! but as said, get ready! Buckle your seat belt!

Excellent, BoB two days in a row. One of my favorite episodes. 2:28 Notice Colonel Sink calls over Nixon and Heyliger, not Winters. By this time, Winters has been promoted and is not included in the strategy discussion. You can see in his body language that he's aware he's left out. He was only called there for his incident report. And I may have said this before, Winters was only 26 years old at this point.

I think FURY is a despicable and disrespectful misrepresentation of US soldiers during WW2, especially the dinner scene inside the household of the woman and daughter.

These shows are fantastic. I always say that I can't imagine the nerves, the feeling of unease of how battle or thr anticipation of it is. My Grandfather actually served as a Clerk under General George Patton. Also, if you both want to see a great film that is about our men in uniform. I recommend the film, "The Delta Force" a great 1986 action film. It is "Inspired" somewhat to partly by the real June 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847 out of Athens, Greece. It stars Chuck Norris and the late Actor, WWII Vet and Marine Lee Marvin. A great film. There is also a subplot in the film that indirectly ties with the subject matter that encapsulates Episode 9 of this series. I would recommend to wait to watch it after viewing Episode 9, at least. Cross roads separate here and there. Before the cross roads few have PTSD, after, well... Before, the old men could sleep on cold nights, after they have nightmares of Bastogne. Oh, bit of history; The Germans came through the Arden forest and surprised the French in 1939. The French did not reinforce Bastogne in then neutral Belgium, instead keeping the Maginot Line well manned. That decision is reason #248 why France fell. Even the Yanks could figure out you had to hold Bastogne. :)The US replaced the decimated troops with whatever was on hand. That was a paratroopers who were under supplied because they were about to go back to Paris to prepare for their next jump.

Steph won my heart even more than usual with her comment on it being the leaders not the men who caused all of this death and destruction. There were evil SOB's on both sides but most guys were just doing what they were told and had little choice in the matter. My grandad was 8th Army (a Desert Rat) and was in action all over the place from Africa to Italy to Europe and he didn't hate the German soldiers ... the SS on the other hand ... He saw one of the death camps and it stayed with him to the extent that one day, not long before he died, he sat his grandson down and had a deep chat with him. Now I was about four or five, so my understanding was very limited back then about what grandad was on about, but he took time to try to get me to understand that you shouldn't hate someone just because of what they were born as but only for what they, as a person, have done. Another thing that has stayed with me all my life, that has come to mean more in the present day with how poorly our governments are behaving, is that he kept his Lee Enfield and had it under his bed, ready, up until the day he passed.

Several famous American leaders have been killed by their own sentries, most notably Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

With no doubt I can say that this is one of the premier series of powerful story-telling from the past thirty years of TV series. It makes some mistakes in the history of what actually happened and messed up a bit on how certain characters were unfairly portrayed but god above does it give your heart and your tear ducts a work out!

Waffen SS ... was SS who were not Germans. Many Europeans were forced or volunteered to fight for Germany. French SS were the last to surrender.

From what we get to see of Winters trip to Paris, you could come away thinking he didn't have a good time there, when in fact, he did. In letters to his pen-pal, DeEtta Almon, he told her he had a good time and did a lot of the typical tourist stuff you would imagine most people doing. But we don't see any of that.

The way you hear the machine being fired is correct. Men that man machine guns know to fire short bursts in air cooled guns like the German MG 34 and MG-42.or the US Browning 1919. These guns can be forced to sustained fire but the gunner risks wearing out the barrel or jamming up the gun as it overheats. Machine guns on fighters also fire short bursts because the pilot has about 12-15 seconds of Ammo. I find it somewhat comical when in a movie about WW1 or WW2 pilots in dog fights fire their guns like they have an unlimited supply of ammo. BAND OF BROTHERS uses proper technique.😊😊

My grandfather was in the 28th Infantry Division. Those are the guys that are walking out just as Easy Company is showing up. A few weeks before this the 28th Division had been fighting in the Hurtgen Forest on the German/Belgian border. It was a meat grinder and the 28th Division lost so many men that the army pulled them off the line and send them to a "quiet sector" to rest and take on replacements. The quiet sector just happened to be where the Germans launched their major attack in the Ardennes Forest. So the 28th Division, full of replacements, and the other divisions in the area such as the 106th Division (a newly arrived division that had never been in combat) were overrun by a massive wave of Germans, but they still managed to hold the line long enough for reinforcements (the 101st Airborne) to arrive before the Germans were able to take Bastogne. By the way, my grandfather said that he melted the barrel of his BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) because of all the shooting that he did, for such long periods. He said that his sergeant came up and said, "You really did it this time" and then the sergeant had to go wander off to try to find a replacement BAR for my grandpa to use. Anyway, great reaction. The next episode is probably my favorite of the entire series.
