One reason this movie was so good was because the director got the SFX team from Aliens to work on this project. And you can tell. 3 and 4 are not terrible movies. You just need to watch the Assembly Cut for 3 and the Special Edition for 4. Almost completely different and better versions.
I hear you bro, but for new to the franchise viewers. I think Liam and Steph, shouldn't bother, even with those improved cuts of 3 and 4. I think they should just wait now with the rest of us, for the sequel to Romulus. They're probably all Aliened out by now anyway. I wouldn't even venture to the Prometheus timeline either, given the garbage sequel that followed that.
Nice reaction! This has become one of my favorite Alien films, very similar vibes as the first two classics! :) No spoilers here: IMO the "hate" for 3 and 4 is exaggerated. Perhaps because people expected more of the same, (and had waited _years_ for it back then, and now complain for decades about it, lol) - but they take a different direction creatively, some bold choices, not as great as the first two films, but some cool and interesting things are there, and more added to the lore. A nitpick: the facehugger did finish completely even if it's cycle was interrupted. It's an all or nothing process. Bjorn's actions doomed everyone but Navarro, without the Alien being born on the ship they all would have escaped with only one casualty. It's interesting how they frame Andy (and the synthetic that sacrificed Bjorn's mother) as in the wrong and heartless but then have Bjorn do the opposite and show that it does far more damage. In the first movie, the facehugger managed to leave Kane and hide in the ceiling where it died. I have a theory that makes sense but it is just a theory. In nature, there are species of caterpillar that eat food to store energy, then once they become a butterfly they lose their mouth. Because they cannot eat to make more energy, they have a fixed amount and die when it is depleted. I think that the facehuggers have a fixed energy that they transfer to the embryo they implant to fuel it's growth. When the facehugger detaches it has very little energy left which is why it usually dies within a few seconds or so. However, the facehugger in this movie was removed early which would mean it had some extra energy. This extra energy allowed it to crawl away and it would of probably died soon after.
Prometheus makes the black goo far more confusing. The black goo comes from the face huggers but Prometheus makes it look like the engineers made the black goo which they didn’t.

Hi guys. I enjoy your reactions. But when it comes to movies you really shouldn't go so much by other people's opinions of what's good or bad so much that you don't watch a movie. Thanks, Liam and Steph! 👾 I would've modified a couple of elements from this one and it would've been perfect in my eyes. 🔸 Some of the references will make more sense when y'all get around to PROMETHEUS (2012) and ALIEN: COVENANT (2017)... which I think are both good and add a lot to the lore... particularly about an aspect that had people wondering since the very first movie. 🔸 I agree that ALIEN 3 (1992) is okay skipping, even though many love it and it does have some cool parts. But I think ALIEN: RESURRECTION (1997) is worth a watch.
I kinda feel opposite about A3 and A4, even despite the last creature in the A4) A4 too cheesy and quirky for my taste. And A3 (mostly in the script then audible in film) bring more vividly the idea of a dna-mixing when facehugger do his thing)
As with the TERMINATOR movies, even the worst ALIEN movies are technically impressive, and Sigourney is always on her game. Here is the rundown: ALIEN 3's opening takes a dastardly turn, in order to continue the cash gra,...er story. It is directed by David Fincher (SEVEN), so it hits some high notes, but is the most depressing of all ALIEN movies. ALIEN RESURRECTION is actually a lot of fun. It kind of jumps the shark, but the jump is actually an interesting concept by writer Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly, SERENITY), especially when all the failed attempts are revealed (you'll know what I mean when you see them). ALIEN RESURRECTION introduces an even scarier human/alien hybrid than the one in ROMULUS. (ROMULUS took all the previous movies and put them in a blender!) RESURRECTION concludes Ripley's journey. PROMETHEUS takes place, 30 years before ALIEN. It is not about the aliens, so much as it introduces the black goo, and the gigantic alien engineers that use it to destroy and create life. Aside from two wonky scientists (a scene of an alien worm discovery was deleted, which makes them look like gleeful idiots when they encounter the larger version of it, later), PROMETHEUS is really impressive! It has an amazing android, and "space jockey" story. Michael Fassbender knocks it out of the park as the android, David! Ridley Scott directs for the first time, since ALIEN. The sets, the score, FX, and the cinematography are superior to the post-ALIENS sequels. ALIEN COVENANT takes place 11 years after the PROMETHEUS story. The black goo is back. The first half of the movie is fantastic and terrifying (back burster!). The second half was just okay. Again, directed by Scott. ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR is set in present time. An expedition discovers a huge underground pyramid in Antarctica. Of course, Predators built it to train young warriors against the perfect organism. With humans, you have 3 races and a lot of bloodshed. Not taken too seriously, it is a fun time. ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR: REQUIEM is the darker, more mean spirited entry of the two AvP movies. Impressively shot, but dark, both literally and story-wise. When I first saw it with my kids, they got upset at an alien sucking out the insides of a pregnant woman. Like I said, mean spirited. I had to put on a comedy - MEET THE SPARTANS, to cheer them up.
I have been waiting for you guys to do this movie, its incredible! What I was most excited to see, was your reaction when you first saw the offspring starring back at Andy! THAT scene gives me chills everytime!
7:15 yeah Spike Fearn (Bjorn, the asshole) has major claustrophobia and talked about how he spent all day weeping/having a panic attack in his trailer after filming that scene
@@SubterrelProspectoryou do know this is in the future, RIGHT? You did see the second one where they colonized the planet that was not hospitable, RIGHT? Yeah, don’t be a dick.
Honestly, when you’re just watching and being filmed, you don’t really think about everything to do with the worlds…I saw rings around a planet, my brain thought Saturn😂 my bad okay!
This movie is Easter egg city. I was pleased to see the save stations from Alien isolation 😊😊 and also how rook looked when he was damaged. Another nod to the working Joe's in alien isolation. "The A2's always were a bit twitchy."
There definitely was not time to let Kay thru that door. The aliens are way faster and opening and closing the door takes 8 seconds. More than enough time to come thru
You should definitely watch the last 4 movies Ripley's story doesn't end until Alien Resurrection and Prometheus and covenant are prequels you guys would have understood Romulus a bit better had you watched them in order
Also, Ian Holms really loved playing this character and wanted to come back to play it. As maybe a different version of the synthetic. “Rook” in this case. Like terminators t model 800 series. They all look like Arnie. Assembly line. But he never got the chance. Fede Alvarez asked the family if they could use his likeness and they said yes.
The "hybrid" looks like some kind of ungodly mix of The Crooked Man (The Conjuring 2), and the Engineers from Prometheus, with some Xenomorph elements mixed in.
Just depends on who the highest bidders were and since you probably can’t have them on the planet legally, the easiest and cheapest option was having them in stasis
there is a theory that they already picked Ellen Ripley up in the escape pod that's how Rook "Ash" synthetic knew there was only one survivor from the Nostromo, you can also see the escape pod in the film on 2 occasions once was when the girl is trapped in the room with the Alien and the others are outside the room its in the back ground and the other is when the station is crashing you can see it on the right side of the screen.
Tastes are really subjective, and not everyone feel the same. I would watch by myself the rest of the movies and decide if u guys like or not. I find forbidding to watch something u didn't like to others (this is, hey stop here don't watch this or that), is not just, and more a way to not letting others could disagree with ur opinion, not allowing them to even shape one. Watch to or till u want guys, many ppl think otherwise about some of the other movies. And btw, nice reaction, thank u both
25:28 I ran to catch an elevator as the doors were closing but the little brat inside just laughed and let the doors close. I caught that same elevator downstairs and when I saw the brat I said, "You could've opened the f*** door, wahuaeoaeiouiu!!!"
and of course colony not on Saturn :D. Many planets out there can have rings) Saturn is a gas giant, there is no solid surface and very extreme gravitation.
I actually really liked 3 and Resurrection for very different reasons. 3 has a very dark and bleak tone for more immersive horror like Alien and then Resurrection is really having fun with itself with the action, variety of set pieces, and a wise-cracking crew of characters more similar to Aliens. I'd stick around if you watch the whole franchise including the Alien Vs Predator movies.
The xeno saved rain because she was ripe for implantation thats why it wanted her, before when it took kay it pierced her and injured her making her unsuitable for implantation so it had learnt by its earlier mistakes when it came to rain and caught her more carefully
If you get a chance the Family and I would absolutely love to see you both react to "Interstellar". It's a very popular movie to react to and i'm sure you would both love the movie. Thanks for all the great reactions, we really enjoy watching you both
Aww Thanks for watching. Unfortunately we have both seen it. I watched it with my best friend for the 10th time about 2 weeks ago as well. That film is amazing!!!
Appreciate it, thank you! We have seen them both unfortunately but we WILL be reacting to Terrifier 3. That should be fun getting that on UA-cam with all of the UA-cam guidelines😂😭
The shots of Rook are actually a silicone skinned animatronic puppet. They used scans from Ian Holm during the development of the first Lord of the Rings movie, and used those to generate a model for a practical puppet. They apparently used deep fake for the lip and eye movements but most of what you see is the puppet. Given all of that, there's even shots in that sequence that Fede doesn't like but they had to move forward with limited time and budget.
I watched it in the cinema - and again last night, up close and personal on my computer I still don't think he looks that bad at all Nowhere near as bad as "Tarkin" in Rogue One which everybody raves about What do you expect? For them to revive Ian Holm's corpse, put some makeup on him, and be utterly convincing? I think this was a good use of a plot device ... Ash represents the tried-and-trusted science android model they know will get the job done. This one, Rook, was programmed to be even more fervent in his pursuit of the Company's objectives No CGI works perfectly - none But, as SFX goes, they did a good job bringing an "Ash" model to life - not perfect, but what could they have done?
This was a great reaction by both of you guys!! Planning to watch this one over the other ones that’s fine. But I think the Prequels should be watched giving IF you guys want to know where this Aliens came about and why, but if you guys decided that Prometheus is not for you guys, than you guys may stop. Also Alien 3 may be too boring for you guys, Alien Resurrection which is Alien 4 is the last story of the character Ripley, that’s all I can say. Good luck and I’m also a Star Wars fannatic so I’ll watch those. Peace ✌️
Alien³ and Resurrection are still better than Prometheus and Covenant hehe. :-) I mean, not needed. The way they did Romulus kind of replaces the need for Prometheus and Covenant in the trilogy. Especially, combined with resurrection.
Regarding the other movies: Alien 3 (the restored version, can't remember it's full name) was a good movie, I think people just found it disappointing as a sequel to Aliens. Resurrection, Prometheus and Covenant are mixed bags, some parts are good, others bad. You should watch them and decide for yourself. AvP was watchable, but it was very tame. AvPR is an objectively terrible movie, though I quite enjoyed it. If you go into it expecting nothing you might at least have fun with the action sequences, I thought the Predator in it was awesome. To be fair, personally, Resurrection is the only one I hate.
your reaction to the offspring hybrid was great 😭 this movie was a blast. I definitely recommend watching the rest of the series tbh. Ppl seriously over-exaggerate them being bad. For me personally, Alien 3 is the weakest. Prometheus, and Covenant are really great reaction material. Alien Resurrection as well
Lastly. I know how it seems. But Andy was right. Had he opened the door. The xenomorph was waiting to pounce. It would’ve closed that distance in moments and taken all of them. Destroying Andy in the process. That wouldn’t be in the best interest of the company. So the xenomorph decided to prey and stalk and when it realized they weren’t going to open the door. It showed up.
The planet they were on isn't Saturn. It's a planet called Jackson. It's a far out weyland yutani colony. If it were Saturn they could just go to Earth which is only 67 minutes away from Saturn at light speed. The closest system to them is Yvaga which is 9 years away at light speed. They need cryosleep because their ship doesn't have the facilities to store food and water as well as oxygen reserves for a trip that long which is why they must sleep. This is why it was so hard for them to leave without the company. Most people on the planet have ships for work around the planet but do not have the cryopods to truly leave which keeps them slaved to the company. So when the cast discovers the station with cryopods they take their chances as it's the only way they will be free.
You maybe should see Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Personally I hate 3, but it is redeemable, Alien Resurrection for what it is, is rather fun, so late 90s
Don't let anyone hate bomb you from a movie. Alien 3 was amazing, people got pissy over it for several reasons, all of which were pissy fanboy reasons. It had a great cast, great pacing, wonderful script, and got back to one alien, limitted resources, and a lot of meat. The theatrical version is the one to watch, the assembly cut was gutless. Alien Resurrection is a fucked up film, watch it anyway, for the experience. Great cast, the story takes a really fucked up turn in the third act. The prequels, Prometheus and Alien Covenant, I'd watch them and decide what you think, don't let yourself be hate bombed from an experience.
I don’t find homey to be so badZ he has a reason for his hatred for ai. Synthetics. I know more then I care to talk about in real life. And we haven’t even gotten there yet. But I always truly loved and liked the idea of true ai. Like they were humanities children in a way. So I understand the fear. I feel for this synthetic character.
You should've really watched the other movies and played Alien Isolation first because you'll otherwise not get most of the references in Romulus and how it actually ties in the various stories.
on the subject of whether or not to watch Alien 3 and Alien resurrection, Alien 3 is a decent movie but Resurrection is terrible, having said that, still watch them and decide for yourselves
Traumatic?? These characters are far too wooden and forgettable to care about. So much of Romulus is lifted straight out of older, better Alien films, including Resurrection. There is NOTHING that good or powerful in Alien Romulus. Its a fan film complete with cheap, fan service dialogue. You should see Aliens on the big screen if you ever get the chance. Now THAT is traumatic.
Liam and Steph, your always relatable and engaging reactions were strong for this movie, but you helped me realize something: it's a kinda boring film. These movies rely on characters making bad decisions, like in the first one, "Alien", when they let a crew member with a face hugger on him onto the ship. But in "Alien Romulus", instead of a well written script, there were so many plot devices of characters making stupid choices that I couldn't care much about them. The next two Alien movies, "Alien 3" and "Alien Resurrection" are NOT worthy of your channel. You might choose to watch them, but I'm sure you'll be disappointed. I fortunately don't remember much about either of them, and that's because there wasn't much in them that I found interesting or exciting. Really, everything that's worth doing and can be done well in the Alien stories was done in the first and second films. Except... The director of the first film and co- creator of the Alien franchise, Ridley Scott made two fairly recent Alien movies that I really like : "Prometheus" and "Alien Covenant". The timeline in these stories is before the first Alien film, but they're NOT really prequels. They're the origin story of how these vicious monsters came to exist. I found it much more interesting than I expected, and even more horrifying than I anticipated. In the Alien movies, there's always a deceitful character, like Ash the android and Burke the greedy human. "Prometheus" introduces a character that's far more dangerous than either of them, and the same character returns in "Covenant". The actor's performances in both movies is chilling, and one of the best villains in sci-fi horror movie history. "Prometheus " and "Covenant" aren't great like "Alien" and "Aliens", but they're both very good, and I especially liked the second one a lot. I think you'd prefer them both to "Romulus", and in both movies, there's someone else besides the aliens to be afraid of. It's just a thought... ________________________ Scott
We actually enjoyed this one! Maybe we were just in the mood for it lol they did make some STUPID decisions that I called out BIG time in the full reaction!

Alien Romulus (2024), мне очень понравился очень хороший фильм, теперь он у меня в коллекции😊🎉❤
Guys, your reactions are really nice. The faces and scare jumps hehehe. :-)
😂😱
"We simply cannot wait for evolution anymore" - That's what drives the human/droid narrative.
If you watch alien 3 it NEEDS to be the Assembly cut. It fixes many of the issues with 3.
Isn’t it like 3hours long? lol
I only just realized as the Zuckermorph was feeding, the tail was still growing. 😳
But I think both worth to watch
As with the TERMINATOR movies, even the worst ALIEN movies are technically impressive, and Sigourney is always on her game. Here is the rundown:
ALIEN 3's opening takes a dastardly turn, in order to continue the cash gra,...er story.
Frightening!!!
The three women represent the three Ripleys. The straight hair, curly hair and the bald Ripley bald Ripley.
The bald ripley!? 🤔 the next movies I’m guessing? Nice!
@ alien III. Prison colony
Interesting to see the ‘Pupation’ of the ‘Alien’. From Chestburster to full form in its morphology.
7:15 yeah Spike Fearn (Bjorn, the asshole) has major claustrophobia and talked about how he spent all day weeping/having a panic attack in his trailer after filming that scene
I’m claustrophobic also so I have huge respect for that!
Ngl. I wanted the Illegible A-hole to bite the dust.
The 'assembly cut' of 3 is damn good, but 4 (resurrection) yeah, you can skip that.
It's not Saturn, it's another planet light years from earth
Like obviously. They see rings and automatically think Saturn? Since when could you LAND on Saturn? It's a gas planet.
@SubterrelProspector Yep, most people don't understand how space, planets, and galaxies all work. It confuses them.
There was even an Easter egg to Origae 6 from Covenant and some Blade Runner references with origami animals
I need to play that game!
This one is 20 years later after the first alien movie.
You should watch Alien Resurrection and Covenant. It would be interesting to see what you think of them.
Great movie
Good job! As a reactor suggestion: Don't talk, interrupt at any time, but sammarize in the end.
There definitely was not time to let Kay thru that door. The aliens are way faster and opening and closing the door takes 8 seconds. More than enough time to come thru
Yeah, wishful thinking I guess
You should definitely watch the last 4 movies Ripley's story doesn't end until Alien Resurrection and Prometheus and covenant are prequels you guys would have understood Romulus a bit better had you watched them in order
Totally agree
Also, Ian Holms really loved playing this character and wanted to come back to play it. As maybe a different version of the synthetic. “Rook” in this case.
Like terminators t model 800 series. They all look like Arnie. Assembly line. But he never got the chance. Fede Alvarez asked the family if they could use his likeness and they said yes.
i enjoyed Alien Romulus a lot, even though it was a very divisive film
They’ll probably get around to the rest of them. No need to tell them what to do. This is their experience, not yours
The "hybrid" looks like some kind of ungodly mix of The Crooked Man (The Conjuring 2), and the Engineers from Prometheus, with some Xenomorph elements mixed in.
It didn’t need to keep Brett alive for ‘Hive’ building.
Not the rings of Saturn, the Jackson Star Colony is in a wholly different star system
When it comes to movies, I heart trauma ❤
Bjorn is Tyler and Kay's cousin btw.
Hopefully not Kay’s cousin because he Is
The father
For how aggressive Waylon is about acquiring xeno, why leave a bunch of viable huggers in stasis?
Just depends on who the highest bidders were and since you probably can’t have them on the planet legally, the easiest and cheapest option was having them in stasis
@judeless77 but the ship was abandoned. Of course keeping them in stasis but you would think there would be security and experiments going on
there is a theory that they already picked Ellen Ripley up in the escape pod that's how Rook "Ash" synthetic knew there was only one survivor from the Nostromo, you can also see the escape pod in the film on 2 occasions once was when the girl is trapped in the room with the Alien and the others are outside the room its in the back ground and the other is when the station is crashing you can see it on the right side of the screen.
play alien isolation it influenced this movie big time
Tastes are really subjective, and not everyone feel the same.
And btw, nice reaction, thank u both
That human alien hybrid at the end is 2,31m Basketball pro Robert Bobroczkyi in a costume, good choice from the movie director
That’s crazy!!
Watch 3 & 4! You might be surprised. Good reaction on this one.
Thanks for watching! We may continue….😃
Great Reaction 👍 BRAVEHEART should be your next Reaction, don't sleep on this movie...🎬
25:28 I ran to catch an elevator as the doors were closing but the little brat inside just laughed and let the doors close. I caught that same elevator downstairs and when I saw the brat I said, "You could've opened the f*** door, wahuaeoaeiouiu!!!"
😂 I hope you said it exactly like this 😂
I wouldn't dream of saying it any other way lol😂
The practical effects on this movie were so damn good, my only complaint was Rook (Ash android), seen better deepfakes.
and of course colony not on Saturn :D. Many planets out there can have rings) Saturn is a gas giant, there is no solid surface and very extreme gravitation.
Yeah I’m an idiot, I just saw rings and my brain said Saturn😂
@@Reactsandgames Yeah, that happens sometimes :D
You have to watch the third one and then Prometheus and Covenant it would make you understand the Black Goo thats in this movie
Makes sense. I did wonder why it didn’t kill her quick but then I saw the face hugger and it made sense what it was doing!😃
@@Reactsandgames We would have loved to see your first time reaction but glad you enjoyed it anyway
Always love your reaction guys. Can you also react to Evil Dead Rise or Terrifier? ❤ Tia
Appreciate it, thank you! We have seen them both unfortunately but we WILL be reacting to Terrifier 3. That should be fun getting that on UA-cam with all of the UA-cam guidelines😂😭
Go watching Alien 3 and Alien 4😊😊😊🎉Directors Cut very cool!!!
Watch Prometheus (2012) and Alien covenant (2017)
Looks like they spent the movies budget on everything else and only had $3.50 left over for the cgi on Rook.
@@pandapropsncostumes Ah so they spent the $3.50 on animatronics, not cgi, my bad.
I watched it in the cinema - and again last night, up close and personal on my computer
I still don't think he looks that bad at all
Nowhere near as bad as "Tarkin" in Rogue One which everybody raves about
What do you expect? For them to revive Ian Holm's corpse, put some makeup on him, and be utterly convincing?
I think this was a good use of a plot device ... Ash represents the tried-and-trusted science android model they know will get the job done.
This one, Rook, was programmed to be even more fervent in his pursuit of the Company's objectives
No CGI works perfectly - none
But, as SFX goes, they did a good job bringing an "Ash" model to life - not perfect, but what could they have done?
I mean, not needed. The way they did Romulus kind of replaces the need for Prometheus and Covenant in the trilogy. Especially, combined with resurrection.
Regarding the other movies:
Alien 3 (the restored version, can't remember it's full name) was a good movie, I think people just found it disappointing as a sequel to Aliens.
Alien Resurrection as well
Thanks. Definitely considering it!
Rey & Finn In "Star Wars, Episode X : Romulus"
😂😂😂
@@Reactsandgames Romulus is roughly set 20 years before Aliens.....
This movie was such a garbage since the begining and it got even worse towards the ridiculous ending 😂 it was hilarously bad
Thank you for sharing this with us! ☺️
This movie is great, love it. ❤ I think you should give Alien 3 and 4 a chance also. They are not that bad as some people think. Go 4it guys! 👍😄👽
If you do 3 and 4, got for the Assembly Cut for 3 and the Special Edition for 4. They do make them far more watchable.
Damn dude you look so much like Patrick Wilson.
He is my wife’s crush and she says the same thing. Honestly I really don’t see it but I’ll eat that compliment all day! Thanks!😂👍🏻
First view and first comment, keep it up! Excited to see y'all watch the Star Wars prequels to finish out the series and story.
Thank you! They are coming soon! We are just waiting on something for the reaction 😃
They say there will be a romulus 2
I don’t find homey to be so badZ he has a reason for his hatred for ai. Synthetics. I know more then I care to talk about in real life. And we haven’t even gotten there yet. But I always truly loved and liked the idea of true ai. Like they were humanities children in a way. So I understand the fear. I feel for this synthetic character.
Could you guys react to M Night Shymalan’s Signs next?
Unfortunately we have seen it. Amazing film! Love it!!
You should've really watched the other movies and played Alien Isolation first because you'll otherwise not get most of the references in Romulus and how it actually ties in the various stories.
There is still time. Maybe things will make sense more when I see them but it’s still enjoyable as a stand alone movie 😃
on the subject of whether or not to watch Alien 3 and Alien resurrection, Alien 3 is a decent movie but Resurrection is terrible, having said that, still watch them and decide for yourselves
❤ aye big fan of the channel 👏 not this movie tho happy holidays ❤❤❤❤❤🎉
Haha fair enough! Really appreciate you being here! 😃
Ripley was aboard the station. You can see her shuttle twice.
It has been confirmed that she wasn't aboard the station
She was not. She was still drifting in space
Wait…what!?
@@Reactsandgames there are nudges of her existence but she was not on board
*_WOT THE FOOKINELL ISSAT_*
😂😂😂 nice!
Andy not asshole. Andy seal show MVP they not have no time to save her alien right there behind her
Liam and Steph, your always relatable and engaging reactions were strong for this movie, but you helped me realize something:
it's a kinda boring film.
