    Simple but beautiful and the maple is a nice accent on the top. Great job! I too, enjoy making boxes. They make great Christmas gifts. You may want to think about someday replacing the original miter gauge on the table saw. It would most likely improve the accuracy of the mitered corners and would add versatility to the miter gauge. Keep up the great content. JimE

    For someone who hasn’t been woodworking so long you are, you are very good at explaining (teaching) what you are doing💪🏻 I too have been making boxes this year, I decided not to use wrapping paper when giving gifts and use for smaller items wooden boxes up to 30x40cm. I gift tea, chocolate, wine and such so boxes are appropriate size but I do boxes for Photos, postcards, playing cards, candles etc. my boxes don’t turn out 100 percent perfect but imo they re hand made so no need for the perfection…. Enjoyed the series, as for electric, because your workshop is basically in a building that is not modified, it is a simple fix, to move plugs up, down, sideways, and the like. As you stated in previous video, you'll get to it, this is the best time to see how you feel with regard to workflow as it relates to tool/machine positioning. Most guys/Gals I know who do installation, love these kind of projects, because it is a blank slate, Looking forward to seeing other videos. And yes I subbed.

    • @standishwoodstory
      @standishwoodstory 14 днів тому

      I’m sorry to hear this is your experience, lots of things can affect the life of a planter box. Direct sunlight, lots of constant rain, snow, and the material used. I recommend using cedar or pressure treated wood if not for veggies, always use outdoor glue such as titebond 3 and add several layers of protective paint/finish such as an outdoor urethane. I’ve had mine outside for over a year in all of these conditions (Ontario Canada) and they still look great.

    • @thedbcooperforum
      @thedbcooperforum 14 днів тому

      @@standishwoodstory I used pressure treated lumber, Titebond 3 and brads.. They need a good sealer because rain will cause the wood to expand and contract much greater than normal and losen the best of glues you have..I think Thompson water seal should help a great deal..I'm in Florida and they got rain 4 or 5 times before separating in a months time.

    Yes ALWAYS ALWAYS insulate before ANYTHING else. Cause now you know what problems you will have to go thru. When I got my new shop, I put everything in the middle and had to do one wall at a time then move all the machines 3 or 4 times until I finished the insulation. Then I surface mounted all my electrical on the surface of the new walls. Ron USCG RET

    Wearing a dust mask when drilling concrete. The dust is very bad for the lungs. And I agree white color on walls ceiling would brighten things. And could frame and insulate walls and might be able to use electrical box extensions and flush mount plugs switches ect. Would have to check with electrical code in your area.
