    You should cut the back off after similar to making bandsaw boxes. Saves a step and prevents the possibility of the back moving. Also, no need to purchase tape

    • @standishwoodstory
      @standishwoodstory  7 місяців тому

      It’s good advice but I honestly have so many issues with resawing straight consistently on my bandsaw that I would fear going through all the work of shaping and sanding just to mess up the lid when cutting it off afterwards 😂

    Cool and simple project! How would you start making the holes with just a router if you don't have a drill press?😊

    • @standishwoodstory
      @standishwoodstory  7 місяців тому

      Great question @Oneazazal! You would still use your router guide, but start with different length router bits if you want to go deeper than the travel of the "plunge" aspect of your router. For my project, I went >1 inch deep so if I didn't have a drill press, I would have used at least 2 of my different routed bits to get to the correct depth.

    If it didn’t have the bit in the middle I’d put my teeth in it 😬 just kidding, nuts could go in there, paper clips and co, pills, coins, most things depending on the size of the box, then for the lid with walnut some brass or copper inlays,,,,, wow I guess I better get started
    Have a great Sunday, greetings from 🇩🇪

      That was a literally lol @Expatmoose, but I like the nuts, paper, clips, etc ideas...although one day this would be a perfect home for some false teeth:)
