Hi everyone. I am just an average person with a full time job and a family commitments who likes to create music and experiment with gear and software. In my videos I am trying to share my findings and discoveries in everything music related.

Korg Karma EDM Techno 2024 - live cover- After Cooking - A Name I don't know

Many thanks to author for allowing to make this remix/cover.
The cover was made on Korg Karma utilising RPPR - real time pattern player.
Recorded using SSL 2 with 4K buttons engaged. Minimalistic processing using Logic's built-in mastering and some EQ.
The original vocal was extracted from the song using AKAI MPC stem separation. I then used the AKAI software to activate the vocal track in sync with Korg Karma during the live performance.

Love the dark sound from PMC, so much more easier to listen to, vocals are set balanced into the mix! Focal sound nice, but forward for long listening sessions!
Mpc s are great ! Best sequencer, best sampler, pre amped mic inputs, several synth engines, cv gates, best drumpads, great controller. Great prices

Impressive for a Keyboard Workstation that is 23 Years Old I love some of the Sounds - I can get a Karma for like 350€ to 400€ in my Country is it a Good Deal for that Price?

Hello, i'm Angel I have a Korg Karma also and its hasa the greatest sounds!!!. I just want to know how to store my favorites sounds or performance during live performance?

I`ve listened to both mixes in my studio. I honestly think that PMC mix although being a bit too dark (I agree) is definitely way better balanced with much better stereo field whereas Focal mix is not balanced and too bright with vocals being too much upfront and not sitting in the mix (kind of karaoke sound, like singing to the background music). I prefer PMC mix but it is a bit too dark sounding, Focal mix balance is totally off and it`s too bright for sure in my opinion.
Thank you for your time listing to the mixes and for the comments. I am considering taking the video down since it does not represent the truth about any of these monitors reviewed. I rushed to get those set up since I have had a limited time with both of them. After spending more time with at least Focals I have realised the errors in my room correction EQ and had to completely re-set everything to get the true response from Solo 6. Also, I have realised that the feedback I have provided to PMCs was not accurate too. So, not sure if I should just remove the video... What is your thoughts on this?
@@amateurmusicstudio i think the video still shows how the monitors perform (through the mixes presented) in not ideal room treatment (like you said). I mean many people deal with similar room problems and can find this video useful. I think

bought one new- still have it-have the moss board and other stuff----You do a lot with it if you play it--don't keep it in the closet

@@crazypainter56 Oh wow - I was really impressed with it when it came out.... I was even considering getting one but was put away with the complexity of the system reported by other users. If I were to be doing anything professional - that would be benefit to me but unfortunately, I have no time nowadays so have to enjoy simple things when I get 5 mins spare... Thanks!!!
Thanks a lot. What is your experience with SSL drivers? I am so tired of mediocre interface drivers that I was considering to go with RME but SSL 12 really has the right features for me.
Sorry for my late reply - I use MAC Apple - no driver were required as these are 'Class Compliant' - no drivers required. It worked as expected with no problems. The SSL 12 required drivers but again - everything worked smooth without any problems. I hope it helps. Thanks for watching!!!

Is there a difference in sound quality between the ssl 2 and ssl 12 (Preamps or Converters)? I read somewhere the converters are not the same. Is it noticable?
Thank for the question. There are no converters on SSL Six. I am not about pre amps but there is a difference in sound with SSL Six sounding more “analogue” if that makes any sense. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hello there, great video. Hopefully you can help me. I'm trying to connect my korg karma using Midi ports with an app call Sunday keys on Apple store. My question is.... do I need to install a Driver or it should work fine if I'm using the proper hardware? I got audio interface, midi cables, USB cable but nothing works. Please if you can respond to my answer
Hi there. Thank you for your question. I am not sure I understand the question correctly - let me confirm a few things first: 1. Do you want to use KARMA as a controller or do you also want KARMA to play sounds from the app? 2. What sound card do you have? 3. What do you connect MIDI IN and OUT of your KARMA to and how (OUT of KARMA to what?) Once you let me know about those I might be able to advise you a bit more. Thanks

This was awesomely cool.. I’m looking for an “old school” synth/workstation and trying to decide between a Korg Trinity and a Yamaha Motif XS
Thank you for your question and my apologies for the late response. It is hard to suggest as each of these keyboards has its own character, sounds etc. It would also depend on your intension - are you looking to use it in the studio or for a live performance... It would be hard to suggest any of these for the reasons above. Ideally, you would want to try both of these (if you can) but I would probably start with Yamaha (if you are planning to use it in the studio) and Korg for live performance - but it is just my opinion. I hope that helps!!!

The old Fantom X has very good pianos. And it’ll always be true about old synths having a much better sound engine then the new keyboards. Even tho people may say the newer the keyboard, the more it will have or sound better; but negative As time passes, these new keyboards tend to lose good sound quality
Totally agree - I have recently done a review of Korg Karma (2001) and Korg iS50 (1999) - and that was the conclusion I have made too... Thank you for your comment!

Can we create a pattern and then save it on to a pad? And then use the scenes while that pattern is still.playing like a loop?
Hi there. Thank you for your question. In short - it can be done. The patter would have to be recorded to PAD as a sample (audio). Syncing it could be an issue since it would be audio only without any relation to what is currently paying and the current tempo. Hi dear, thank you very much....this is a good probable solution....i purchased fantom 06 and started creating scenes. I use scene remain...i would need one more help from you....should i set up the roland ev5 pedal to expression or volume....i only need to lower and increase the volume of scenes. There are 2 pedal settings one system and one in scene edit. Please guide me on this also. Many thanks in advance...

Thanks for the video. A few more points on the Fantom 0 series: - Very light weight, especially the 06. Fantastic if you're going to be mobile. I think this is one if its strongest points - it's a powerful, versatile instrument that you can take places, but it's not as fully featured as a heavyweight studio device. - The audio interface is excellent quality. - There are quite a few features that you can enter quickly simply by holding down Shift and tapping another button/control. - Although the screen is hi-res, it's something that people with poorer eyesight may struggle with. Something to consider if you're an older person. - The pattern based sequencer is decent once you get used to it. If you are accustomed to using a linear sequencer, you may find it quite limiting. - No way to "move" a pattern from one slot to another. You have to copy it to a new slot then delete the original. This can be a bit awkward if you're trying to reorganize your patterns. - You can only record 8 patterns per track/instrument. Adequate for basic compositions but it's a limit you can run into easily for more complex songs. - You can only record 64 bars in a pattern. Again, adequate for most material but not if you want to do long recordings. - When recording, the filter and resonance knobs don't record the CC events, by default. You have to assign these functions to a different knob for them to be recorded. Or you can use the piano roll afterwards to insert those CC events. - There are various sequencer features that are absent like "punch in/out" or "ripple edit". - Some of the Tones can cut out when played staccato style, possibly polyphony limits. - No aftertouch.
You can work around the 8 pattern limit if you sample your current mix (a group of patterns or a full song) and store in the pad memory, then use that in another scene where you add more tracks & patterns.

I have both the Montage & Fantom with 88 keys & they are completely different beasts with each having their own pros & cons. Overall however, I prefer my Kronos over them.
