- Combining the power of Roland Fantom 06 with AKAI MPC Live II is something really exciting and this is a very powerful stand-alone setup!
Thanks for sharing.
Do you find there is a lot of duplication of features using them together? What are the strengths compared to each other? Thanks 👍
Thank you for watching the video and for your question. These are similar units but different enough to keep both. MPC is the best sampler whereas Fantom comes with a very basic sampling capabilities. MPC is also a stand alone synth that adds to the library of sounds I can use. MPC can be used as a stand alone workstation too (and that is how I use it) to control other synths very easy. Fantom comes with a lot of lovely Roland sounds as well as 61 keys for playing, can be sued as a MIDI controller in my set up etc. So, yeah - I like both of those. Thanks
Hey there, thanks for showing us your setup. could you tell me where you got that stand for the MPC?
Thank you for the question. I have made the stand for MPC myself. I wanted to buy one but I could not find anything that would work so ended up doing it myself.
Thanks for watching!!!
@@amateurmusicstudio brilliant. thank you for the answer. I've been looking for this also. I think it's going diy for me too. cheers
Nice setup 👌
Thank you for watching and for your comment - I think it is one of the most powerful stand alone set up for me! I will be posting videos with the stuff I have managed to create with this set up shortly!!!
ssl fusion?
Thank you for your comment. If you check one of my earlier posted videos "SSL Fusion as the only colour box.." you would understand why I returned it. I liked it but...
Could you do a video on the connectivity? I'm having a hard time setting them up. Just got the mpc live 2 not too long ago.
Hi Brian, thank you for your question. I may be able to help and could consider making a video. Could you please confirm what it is you are trying to connect together. Thanks
@Amateur Music Studio Thanks for the reply! And yeah, I'm trying to connect my Roland Fantom 06 to my MPC Live 2. I'm just having a hard time.
@@Dope0139 ok. there are two ways you can connect both - MIDI and Audio.
For MIDI - you need to use USB or 5 pin MIDI cable. Please let me know if you have any. For AUDIO - I use the default audio Track on MPC. For this - on the main screen switch to AUDIO (on the bottom left corner), select INPUT CONFIG and press the bottom button once so that it is in IN state. Of course, connect audio output from Fantom to INPUT on MPC , change switch at the back to LINE and adjust the input level signal with the rotary knob next to the input jacks. I hope this helps.
