So, I had to tear down parts of the enclosure and reassemble it. I'll go over some of th...

Do they defecate in the water? I have about a 20 gallon heated tub in my Savannah monitors enclosure but the filtration is not strong enough to pull any of her excrement down. Trying to understand if one of these filters would work better than the canister I have.
If they wearnt 4500$ i would for sure have one, but who knows maybe one day ill have the money and if i do i would gladly pick one of these up in a heart beat
What offer do you use??
@@jamesburns7759 offer?

@@petrkolonicny8014 💯🦎💯
Do you need the drainage on the bottom? My current cage does not have one
@trishgantner2214 not necessarily. Depends on how much water is going on. Regardless I find them to be beneficial so your substrate can drain and beneficial bacteria can grow in the drainage layer
That is not simple and easy :D
@dazd6267 it is compared to this lol 🤘💯🤘 ua-cam.com/video/SBo4jV2NtZA/v-deo.htmlsi=sI8kocUyp2HZFebn
The Nagabatu (Lathanotus borneensis) is a small lizard native to Borneo, it is the only extant species of its genus and the family Lathanotidae, its closest living relatives are the beaded lizards (family Helodermatidae) and the monitor lizards (family Varanidae), all three extant families constitute the superfamily Varanoidea, among this superfamily the Lathanotidae family to which the nagabatu is the sole extant species is the most basal of the three extant families of the Varanoidea superfamily, like all anguimorphs, the nagabatu is carnivorous, varanoids shared a more recent common ancestor with the glass lizards (superfamily Anguoidea), thus making varanoids and glass lizards equally the most derived of the four extant superfamilies of anguimorphs.
Doubt youll see this but how much drylok did you use? Most sources say a litre tub can cover 1m² with 2 coats so I will need roughly 4 litres minimum but that is really expensive. Before i spend that amount just want to double check that is roughly the amount you had to use.
@slebbern9807 honestly i dont remember. Ifbi had to guess 3 gallons
Why 2 lights? Will the aquasky be enough, or do I need both to grow plants?
@chubbybear12 I just added 2 of the aquasky for the better lightning effects. I have since removed them both and added them to other enclosures and I use the fluval plant light on this build
@bradsbioactivebuilds I have the aquasky. Will that be ok to grow plants inside an enclosure?
@chubbybear12 yes, thay sould be sufficient 🤘💯🤘
This is the coolest build I've ever seen in my life. If/when I build one, I'm using this video as a guide! This is so detailed. Epic!
@remytherat3067 of course, thanx for watching and if you have any questions once you start lmk
I would add leaf litter to the water but I haven't researched about this animal so I don't know
@Winterstillplayz yeah, I'd like to after he gets more established in the set up. Would look cool
I’m sorry, surely I’ve just missed this detail, but can anyone explain the intent behind giving the hide a lid? What problem did the lid help Brad circumnavigate? Or is it literally just so he can grab the Ackie(s) while they’re hiding? Eggs, maybe?
@spencerthebear4647 Great question. I'm not necessarily preventing a problem. But I like personally like to have easy access to the ackie or eggs if needed in case I needed to get her our or remove eggs. Plus I like to over build lol.
Fantastic builds! What unit do you use for the mister itself?
I use a mistking. Makes it simple for daily or scheduled mistking 🤘💯🤘
What animal is it
@@Ben-jn3yo Lanthanotus Borneensis aka Borneo Earless Monitor 🤘💯🤘
More correctly called the nagabatu since it is not a true monitor lizard.
I love this species. One of the traits I really like is the darker earthy colors on the body being contrasted with the bright blue eyes.

Wow!!!! That is an awesome enclosure. Looking forward to seeing at a few more months when the monitor and plants settle in and have grown.
@jesseehlen6486 thank you and I'm looking forward to showing an update soon!
Hey brad. I need some advice. Im looking to get a large lizard, and cant choose between savanna monitor, caiman lizard, or durimels monitor. Caiman is my forst choice, but i dont have experince with water filter and tank regulation. Which of this is the most sustainable lizards, which is the cheapest? I would be happy with any of them, so now I am looking at stricly pricing and hardiness. Ive got to make sure it lives long. Thank you so much!
@holdenbaloun5257 savannas are usually WC so they usually come in work parasites and dehydrated. So going to the vet 1st thing would be recommended so he lives past 3 weeks. Caiman will need a large water and land section. Check out this video I did on filtration. Sometimes it's worth it to spend more money out of the gate to save money further down the road. Hope this helps and I washing you the best. ua-cam.com/video/Ff1YHtaGHM8/v-deo.htmlsi=lOUvwkUVVg6akc-w
@bradsbioactivebuilds will do! I recognise you didn't mention the dumerils monitor in your response.I presume then he is probably not the best option? How much are the monthly expenses for caiman lizards vs dumerils if you have the insight to answer? Thanks so much man. Caiman is def my top pick, so lemme get on watching thag vid
My plan is to buy prebuilt, as I can only house 4x2x2 rn. But within 1/2 a year I am moving and will be able to build a diy. Is it particularly more difficult to implement the filters in a prebuild?
@holdenbaloun5257 it really depends on what kind of material the prebuilt is if you can drill a hole for some tubes to attach a exterior canister filter to handle the bioload then youbshouod be good. A 4x2x2 won't last long for a baby of either species
@@bradsbioactivebuilds I see. I am hoping a 4x2x2 can last 1 year? What do your think?

I've always wanted to do something like this but with me still being in high school its hard to do something this complex so I'm always so amazed to see people actually taking time and effort into making things like this Also I love earless monitors their so cute yet so draconic probably my favorite lizard, maybe even my favorite reptile. Also I'm pretty sure I saw those exactly babies on the cold blooded website crazy how small this planet it ( also not sure if your planning on it in the future but may you also record a video on making its 2nd enclosure if it gets one, once its older? )

Hey Brad sorry if this was answered in the live, on the enclosures you use lexel adhesive on the bottom seams.. do you wait the full 1-2 week cure time before doing a water test? Thanks alot homie, keep killing it!
@erickperez8770 I paint the lexel in the time requirement with drylock. It coat is a very thin coat (scratch coat), then a few coats over the top. Wait the 2 weeks and water test. I have done seams a few different ways. Is there any specific video you are referring to?
@bradsbioactivebuilds I believe it was the blue tree monitor enclosure build. I remember asking if you used both GE and Lexel and you replied that you used lexel for the bottom seams. Awesome now I now for sure to wait the entire cure time before exposing it to water, thanks man you've been a huge help in my build process! If I had other social media besides yt I would definitely send you pics of my build to see what you inspired me to create, cheers homie!
