    Wow, just wow. This should have a million views and you should have a million subscribers! Well done, I'm hoping to do something smaller scale but fundamentally the same for my Whites tree frog's. You really created something inspiring and that's after I've probably watched 100 other videos on bioactive enclosure's. Every creature living in that tank looks happy and healthy and that's all you bro. Easiest sub I've had to make!

    I've been on youtube for literally hours looking for instructions and inspirations for my upcoming build and this is by far the best and most thorough video. I love how you explained your previous errors and how to overcome them. You've explained things that other videos glossed over, such as airflow and having your water element not flood to the substrate. I'm just so happy I've found your channel. Thank you!!

    Fantastic build. Do you have any epiphytic orchids growing? I've heard that they need lots of fresh air and that recirculated air will induce mold and algae issues. Thanks, and good job! FYI, might want to try peat moss or dried sphagnum moss instead of coco fiber to get more live moss growing on the background and vines.

    • @bradsbioactivebuilds
      @bradsbioactivebuilds  2 роки тому

      I feed the MG the crested gecko diet on the top left ledge for easy access in a .5oz cup. I put the cup behind a plant that has grown around it. It has naturally created it own foot print of the cup so it's easy to change out.
      I laid down some electrical tap between the glass lid and screen I created to make it extra tight. Although was a snug fit so it wasn't necessarily needed. I also found these cheap clear dollar store paper sleeves that had a thin plastic binding. I took the binding and placed it on the glass door edge. Not sure if that makes sense or not. I had to improvise and thi k of something. It filled the gap perfectly. I needed a totalnof 3 for 24" high. The center I left alone because I got lucky with a tight fit. I have with other tanks put down some painters tape, ran a bead of silicone between it. Waited about 10 minutes, pulled the tape. Then let it cure for 24 hours and cut the openings with a razor blade. This method works well too

    • @bradsbioactivebuilds

      They live on 2 different schedules so the cohab is working. You can sell the offspring to keep the population down or freeze the eggs.
      If it's your 1st build I would suggest doing a vivarium instead of a paludarium, especially with dart frogs, to learn their behaviors. It's cool you are starting out at a young age! How do you keep the frogs out of the pond? Dart frogs are poor swimmers and often drown

    • @bradsbioactivebuilds
      @bradsbioactivebuilds  2 роки тому +3

      I have studied these 2 frogs specific frogs the last couple of years. They don't go by the deeper portion. I have some wood and easy exit points if they were to jump in. Honestly I was concerned about it. It is a controversial topic. But from my observations they don't seem to mind or go near it. Although they do go to the top of the waterfall frequently and sit in the very shallow end. Also the "pond" is big but the way I made it, it kind of has its own section of the paludarium.

    Actually the first mistake I see is all the plastics, foams and related. I know this is all to common practice today, but if the goal is actually an artificial biome of some form that will reach its full protentional in natural homeostasis, the less of these industrial materials that can be used the better...
    It is understandable that the infrastructure of the enclosure isn't necessarily "natural" as its often wood, glass or sometimes plastic, and of course all the mechanicals and electrical components like pumps, lighting and climate control. However, beyond that, the material design should be as found in nature...not in a can of foam or tube of silicone...
    This is a boiler plate post from classes on enclosure design I use to teach. Take from it what you wish to...and good luck!

      @JayCWhiteCloud 3 роки тому +1

      @@bradsbioactivebuilds I love the sculpture aspect for sure and my goal as a Naturalist and Zookeeper working in enclosure design (when I was in that profession) was..."to create a man made enclosure while making it look naturalistic and optimizing surface area to enrich available space,"...just as you wrote above.
      The significant difference to not only the animals well being but the long term naturalistic affect of the enclosure was that past the infrastructure the enclosure was virtually 100% all natural with no artificial elements. The effect on the plants and animals within are significant as is the long term longevity of the enclosure.
      As you said, to each their own...Your work "looks" great...
