Ever had a renovation project stall over one decision? That's what happened with our guest bathroom at the Dower House. We had beams, tiles, and a toilet in place but we couldn’t decide on a sink. Then, Borja discovered a 730 lb. (330 kg.) stone sink SO MASSIVE that three people couldn’t lift it. It was oversized for the space, needed carving and we didn’t have a saw big enough for the job. Des...

Five years ago, we invested our entire life savings in a 500-year-old abandoned estate located two hours north of London. We soon discovered why no one else had even made an offer - the crumbling cottages, stables, outbuildings, gardens and grand 20-room Manor House were all hidden under a blanket of overgrown ivy, shrubs and trees. To add to the challenge, we recently acquired another crumblin...

Arriving in America just two weeks before the due date we were shocked to find out that labor had already begun. What followed was a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected events. Join us for a rollercoaster of a journey that thankfully concludes with a very happy ending! Don't forget to like, comm...

When we first laid eyes on the 18th-century Dower House, we fell in love with the gorgeous English countryside, but over the years, the home itself had lost all its historic charm. Old wooden beams? Gone. Brick fireplaces? Plastered over. Stunning windows, all but forgotten. This place was begging for a rescue, especially the snug (sitting room) with its modern fireplace and crumbling walls. We...

The Yew thing is a hang over from very early pre-Christian Druids / Celtic people held them in some significance because they came to symbolised death and resurrection (the idea being that they kind of resurrected themselves from multiple branches if damaged or if they collapsed). All of that was "borrowed" by the later incoming Christian culture hence their appearance in church yards

Love the tour and all I can see you the both of you holding your baby son and showing him all the details. The fun he’ll have running around the paths and playing hid and seek in the long grass. Taking the time to smell the roses and help pick herbs and veggies for a meal. It’s going to be an amazing adventure.

Please hurry with the renovations of the Gardener's Cottage😄.... what a perfect place to stay in..... My husband is a horticulturalist and we visit the UK to go to the beautiful gardens around England, Wales, and Scotland. When we were young we thought it would be great to live on an estate in the gardener's cottage and care for the estate's grounds. Thank you for the lovely tour of the full estate..what a fantastic place...and you both are doing such beautiful work restoring it with modern amenities but keeping to its history. Well done you.😊

I’m amazed at the height of those trees and the hedge in one of the gardens, coming from a Californian whose seen big trees, it’s impressive to see any that large on a property.

Yews symbolize death and resurrection… that’s why they’re found in cemeteries. It’s a Celt thing also.

Just a thought, the gardener’s cottage wall would make for a perfect spot for a climbing hydrangea!

Just another “just a thought,” so have you ever seen a Lady Banks Rose, it’s a climbing rose, perfect for a trellis or archway. I LOVE your tiny estate! Here in Tennessee, gardens are sooo important for a home. Y’all have made a very special home, garden and contribution to Britain 🇬🇧! National Treasures, you both are! Formidable!!!!!! 🎉❤

I’m sure I’ll be booking a short holiday with you, when available that is. I’ll be going to Spain soon, so shoot me (if you don’t mind) a dm when your place is open for business… maybe just a couple of days, while I’m in the area 😁.

So hugely impressed with all the work you've done. Your love of this place shows! As a long time gardener, just wanted to point out something, if you are not aware, respectfully. Both the yew and holly in your garden are highly toxic, all parts of the plants. Not to be scary, certainly not to suggest you get rid of them! But as you have an infant who'll be walking in a year or two, just be mindful of the plants in your garden. Little ones will put anything in their mouths, and they move fast. Either do the research or consider hiring a botanist for an on site consult, just to look over what's in your garden. Best to be armed with the right knowledge. Take care.

Oh, you should make guest houses in those sweet little cottages 😀 How amazing would that be, to come and visit, and get to stay in your own little house!!😂 I just love the whole property! And I swear, I would restore and decorate that main house, so that it would almost look like a museum, and I would live there - happily ever after! Because you almost have to! Its the main house! How fun would it be, to make this in to a complete experience holiday package. On the first day, people are given their bedrooms, that come with designated roles and duties! So one half is the noble family, and live in the main house. The other half is the staff!! Working in the gardens, cooking, maids, etc. All, dressed the part as well, and helped by guides, and including all kinds of activities, fx cooking class, wine tasting, etc! Then, half way through the week, you SWITCH, so everybody gets to try both😂

Oh thank you so much for this explanation.... it was a bit confusing when looking at projects individually to visualize what and where those things were, now it's so much clearer! Quite interesting that these buildings were so close together but actually you've created many cosy nooks of greenery, altho I'm sure they were much more utilitarian back in the day.... but now are totally cool with surprises everywhere! 😊
