Here in Canada, my niece was a surrogate for a gay couple from France. We had a baby shower for them just before they took August home...it was a very special occasion and not one I will ever forget. Brought up three children in three separate house renovation projects. All beautiful adults now and we always saw it as investing our time and energy for their future. Can be difficult at times as progress can be slow and children take the priority but don't regret a thing. Tears in my eyes watching your excitement for your future family. I'm on a surrogacy journey myself now with my sister. After a miscarriage two years ago we found out I had cervical cancer. It's been a shit time but seeing success stories like yours makes me feel hopeful it will work out for us too!

Babies need love, food and shelter. They are afraid of loud noises and the feeling of falling. I think you have it covered. There is no wrong or right. I’ve always dealt with children in a manner that made them feel that what they are feeling matters and is important to me. I never make them overeat. I only ask that they try new foods because they may like them. If they don’t, they don’t have to eat them. I’ve had many children during my life. None of my own. I would have been a very good parent, but I believe in a two parent household. I never felt secure enough in my relationships to bring a child of my own into the mix. It was a choice. You’ll do wonderfully. Congratulations. That mobile in the nursery is beautiful.

My mother died when I was 2 and my brother 4, way back in 1952. My Dad raised us as a single father against everyone’s advice to put us in an orphanage. Single Dads were unheard of in those days but he did a phenomenal job raising two successful, well balanced people. Men can raise kids no question… It’s not easy raising kids ( I raised two) and it does change your life in ways you can’t imagine. A baby grows quickly into a toddler, into school age, into a teenager. Every stage is challenging… Good luck you guys! And bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Congratulations on your bundle of precious love. I have two daughters, 27 and 25 and they are the best part of my life. My ex husband had never held a baby, changed a nappy or had anything to do with children at all much less a baby, but he was brilliant. Sadly he left us when my youngest was 15 months old however that being a daddy was still his favourite job. I truly believe children are a gift to each and every parent and I know your baby is truly blessed to have a Daddy and a Papa like both. Please remember to let grandma‘s or Mema’s whatever they want to be called babysit while you too nourish your relationship.
