- We always knew having a baby would be life-changing but we never imagined it would be this intense! Arriving in America just two weeks before the due date -- we were shocked to find out that labor had already begun. What followed was a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected events. I hds a book on how to care for a baby. It was incredibly useful, the day I came home from hospital the leg of my nursing chair broke, it was the perfect size.
You guys are hilarious about this baby! You say your going to "train" the 2 day old to tolerate a 5 hour car ride. You are the ones who will be trained by the baby to manage the car trip in difficult circumstances. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

i think tbefe are guidelibes advising max hours for a baby in a car seat......it affects their breathing.
I know it terrified us… manufacturers advise 2 hours but social media says 30mins!!!!

Congrats! However, babies cannot sleep through the night for a long time. They get hungry, they pee, they poop, they are sometimes too hot, sometimes too cold. Whenever they are uncomfortable, they'll wake up and cry until you make them comfortable again. Good luck. DA

Welcome to parenthood! Little or no sleep...worrying if you are doing things right....will he be healthy...will he be happy...yes welcome to the rest of your life! Babies don’t come with instructions. They are the biggest joy, sorrow and stressor you will ever experience! Babies are so totally worth everything. Blessings to your new little family!

This is one of those instances where you just be grateful that it wasn't stolen, you do what it takes to get it back, take deep breaths and go hug your new baby ... gratitude is the best attitude.

I'm married to an engineer and he was very miffed that the baby didn't follow the instructions from the book.
My sister had her first baby at 37, after the first week she said "You really have to maintain your sense of humor with a baby". She had her second baby at 39 and her third at 42. Now they're all grown with children of their own, seems like only yesterday. Congratulations for your new son.

Babies sleep for 12 hours every 24 hours but when they are tiny it’s broken into shorter periods and as they get older the sleep times join together to be longer. Night time feeds and nappy changes are developing their brain architecture from food and responding to their needs creates a secure attachment. You are doing the most important job in the world!!

The sleep will come! Physically newborns are not able to sleep through the night early on, but there are things you can do to get into a good sleep routine and help stretch out the long periods of sleep. As an American I feel like it’s so ironic that I’m about to recommend a British author to you 😂 Tracey Hogg was a British RN and she wrote the best books about baby sleep, feeding, and understanding your baby’s physiology through each stage until toddlerhood. Her book made such a difference for me with my second baby. You are going to get so much advice from so many people, just know that as long as your baby has love and feels secure then you are already amazing parents.
I read that one 😆 it’s all about routine more than forcing something on them ! That’s what I took from all of them 😆

And even then , there will be times that the baby changes his schedule without permission 😫. You WILL survive the first year . But teamwork is essential 👍. Sleep when you can . Forgive each other for those moments you think you can’t handle the stress … it’s a wonderful journey called Parenthood ❤

Yes! Two nights on two nights off is the way my husband and I did it. You got decent sleep and were just getting too tired when it was your time off.😊😊😊

A nurse told me when we left the hospital with our first newborn all babies are good when they leave here it’s what the parents do with them.l took her advice & had two very good babies who were soon sleeping through the night.Happy for you both gorgeous baby boy.

Get rid of the book. The baby didn't write it, a grown up did. Ask other parent's. You will get so much more hands on info! Don't dive in the internet. Not all info can be trusted and a lot is simply not true. Follow the signs your baby gives you. Don't worry you got this. Love watching you btw❤

It’s not healthy to have phones and such gadgets close to babies though. The research in ongoing regarding the affects on tiny brains. The children of today are the guinea pigs for what the research will show in years to come.

Hope all is going well and that being daddies is bringing GREAT joy! Hope you are home soon. Life becomes easier when you are in your own home and you can establish routines and have EVERYTHING you need at hand.
I remember as a first time mum of about a fortnight, and worrying about something and calling the doc. He came, and as I poured out my worry saying "the book says"" and him saying ... the baby hasn't read the book! Experience shows all babies are different and you will soon know to trust your own instincts
Oh most definitely we are trusting our gut as it’s working well so far and he is been particularly good at the minute … we know that will probably change 😂

Crongratulations! The best advice I was given when I had my son was expect to do only one a day. Your brain wants to " get back to normal" but it will be a new normal from here on!😊
This is great advice. Sometimes leaving the house or even just having a shower is your one thing to do that day, and that is still an achievement. 💚
That’s going to be a hard thing for us to do as we are used to doing so many things but I think it’s a good realistic goal given how the past two weeks have been 😂

Huge bummer about the car impound, just what you didn't need while you are in an unfamiliar place! Babies/children are a constant series of surprises, mostly good but sometimes very overwhelming! The adjustments are exhausting, but rewarding at the same time. Enjoy being parents, attentive kind parents are well rewarded with good kind adults they fostered. Safe smooth travels home!

Congratulations you are fathers ❤️ I am sorry but I did laugh that you are reading a sleep technique book but I guess we all did. The car sounds so sketchy and freaking annoying but you stayed focused and worked through it. We have got some ear defenders things for babies and we are planning to feed on take off and landing… failing that a dummy 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼that’s our plan let’s see what happens
