George Hatfield was a student of Jack Torrence at the Stovington Prep School. He had a bad stutter and was on the debate team. The team was coached by Torrence so he cut George Hatfield because he stuttered. Hatfield was caught slashing the tires of Jack Torrence’s Volkswagen and an altercation ensued. The fight led to Torrence being fired. His next job was at The Overlook Hotel. I see what you did there.
