Do a test - same route, one run on the tops, another one on the TT bars. Hold the same power. See what the benefit actually is. Would be very interesting.

timely video for me, I'm wanting to try aero bars for the first time myself. But I'm looking to at set more for long distance riding, I'm thinking of it as a way to get off my hands after hours riding.

Also been thinking about aerobars 👍🏻 more for comfort on long rides, will prob try some short / mini controltech/profile design bars just as a way to shift positions when riding.

Aero bars are great. And don't think you have to get low to get aero. I use them primarily for comfort and have them set high on my distance bikes. Still gain 10% extra speed and ride them comfortably most of the time for the whole day, and the next. Watch out for back issues and don't be afraid to get them higher, profile has spacers to raise the rests higher. Also compare the low position used in the early application of them vs the more upright hands in front of face positions more commonly seen now.

Just make sure you have the allen bolts torqued up to the correct specification. Don't want them to drop if you had a significant bump. That should get what you need for your triathlon races.

I have spinal injuries so always sit up to ride borrowed tri bars for a 25 mile TT I was 7 minutes up at the halway turnaround on my previous best, I was in so much pain after that I had to revert to sitting up and lost going on 20 minutes on the return

They definitely need some good flexibility if you want to stay low for a long time

If your bike has a standard saddle tube (not d shape or sth like that) you might want to look for the dual position seatpost of Redshift. Using it myself. I personally would have used the aero bars of redshift aswell, since they are more adaptable and adjustable.

I didn't know about those adjustable seatposts, will definitely check them out, thanks!

And how much speed did you gain with the aero position? Could be interessting to compare the different positions on the same track with the same amount of watt.

Yeah that's definitely a good video idea for the future. Once I get a bit more comfortable using them I'll definitely look into comparing the watts

Using my aero bars primarily for comfort over long distance (200km plus) I gained an aero advantage of around 10%.

Is your right aero bar slightly higher than the left one, or is it just the camera?

yep I think it was, I took the video when I first installed it, and then tried to make them level after

WTF! This mounting is the ungliest i have ever seen. Ugyl Tape just to hold the blips. Disgusting.
