    My main issue is also diet. I would like to have 2-3 easy to make and nutritionally complete recipes

    Best of luck mate! I'm on a similar mission, low HR cardio (Z2) and strength work. As you say, - consistency is the key. One thing I've noticed - be very careful with so called "cheat days". They can make many days of hard dedication fruitless.

    This aligns with a set of goals I was formulating for myself over the same time period. I am currently at about 90 KG (199lbs), looking to end at about 77 KB (170lbs). I am looking forward to the challenge and following your progress.
    Along with the nutrition side, for my activities, I will be focusing on road cycling (I am a dedicated roadie), along with kettlebell work, walking and some rucking.

    Love this idea! Best of luck with it and I’ll definitely join you along the way. I’m 99kgs at the moment and haven’t been in the 80s since pre Covid. I’ve signed up to a half marathon at the end of March 2025 so need to be in some sort of form for that. My aim is to be sub 90kgs at Christmas Day. Will look forward to seeing your weekly updates and hope I can be progressing in the same way too

    I've been working on something similar, as I was up to 125kg after being 92kg back in 2020. I'm down to 117kg, and trying to get 0.5 - 1kg off a week. It's been a struggle, especially when stress can completely kill my appetite before I eat and typically overeat. It's not been the easiest route but I've been lifting for the last 2 months which has seen good progress but I can't walk due to a leg issue so I tend to cycle.
    Do feel you with the deadlifting - I played rugby for 15+ years and my leg strength has never been bad!

    Glad you've taken the plunge and that you appreciate it's not easy to lose weight especially after the first few pounds. I am 70 now and have struggled with my wt since my early 20s open.( I inherited. a big appetite the elephant in the room and that's a big problem).. Good luck with your journey I'm nearly at the end of mine so won't be following you until Christmas hopefully as I am now at a BMI of 23. All I can say is it's the hardest thing I ever did was losing weight. Ended up more or less locking myself away, and concentrating on walking swimming gentle Zwift and a little bit of weight training on a slightly calorie restricted fairly high protein otherwise well balanced diet (

    This is perfect for me! I was about to do something like this anyway and doing it with other people makes it even easier and more fun. I had lost weight but had two knee replacements, which really limited my ability to burn calories. Sometimes I adjusted my diet and to be honest sometimes I didn't. So right now I am 198 lb/90 kilos and I would like to reach 165 lb/75 kilos by Christmas.

    while I'm no nutritionist, I think it needs to be reiterated that 1kg off a week is pretty extreme as you said. I've always read that 500g a week is a much more sustainable number.
    Now obviously, everyone is different and in your case being taller than the average person and starting from a higher weight means it's less extreme relative to you personally than it would for someone who is 170cm tall and starts at 85kg for example.
    I'm not saying to say you won't manage it, I'm convinced you are very capable of it, it's more to say: even if you only managed half of that it would be a great result already ! It's also for other listeners, to ensure they managed their expectations. Anyway I hope my comment doesn't come across as negative because it's really meant to be supportive. And for the record, I'm overweight myself and would also like to lose approximately the same weight as you, so it's not coming from a place of looking down or patronizing

    Good luck. I am doing similar, I was 205 in June and now 193.6 today. I did it all without counting calories and eating mostly meat with 20ish grams or less of carbs. Build muscle to help with fat burning and long long zone 2 sessions. Best of luck with your approach.

    • @SteakandChains
      @SteakandChains 4 місяці тому +1

      @@davidr1431 the best way I found is to keep food choices simple and cost effective. I eat 4 eggs and some breakfast meat in the mornings (bacon, spam, or ham). For lunch and/or dinner (since I’m not always hungry) I eat chicken (legs or thighs) or some form of red meat (steak, ribs, shredded beef, etc). Eat enough meat to feel full. Your body will naturally tell you when to stop. I for drinks I start my day with a scoop of electrolytes in water then drink diet/zero sugar sodas throughout the day while also mixing in electrolytes and water. I probably drink more soda than recommended but the caffeine and carbonation helps in between meals to extend meal times.

    • @SteakandChains
      @SteakandChains 4 місяці тому

      The only time I have carbs is with my post workout protein shake and with some zero sugar energy drinks that have 2 carbs. Also, low carb tortillas, but I eat those once a week or less since they are low net carbs and heavy fiber which doesn’t sit well for me but I have tested with a glucose meter and the do have a minimal affect on my blood glucose.

No excuse but since then I’ve stopped smoking and that didn’t help. I’ve stopped adding any sugar to my hot drinks as of yesterday. That’ll probably save me 10-15 teaspoons of sugar daily. It’s got to be done. My clothes are getting too tight.

    I am about your height and have gone from 90 to 80 a few times. 1kg a week is way too much, there is no way you will pull this off without feeling miserable and most likely gaining it back again. I would aim for 0.5kg, this way you will have some energy to do workouts and there is higher chance you will sustain it later. Good luck!

      I do think there's a merit to this approach which no one ever mentions which is that it gets you used to smaller portions and you start becoming full from them. Worked well for me in the past but I end up getting portion creep :D there's been times where I could only eat half a pizza where I could eat a full one currently and still not feel full. Greg's approach is great but if you're used to having massive portions and you slip you end up eating a weeks worth of calories. So starting with something extreme like this to reset portion size and feel real hunger cues then moving to his approach when I get to target weight is what I'm going for.
