Great review. I should be getting mine this week. Although, I am very excited to use I'm a little nervous bc I'm coming from a Rail 7 with 85nm of power. I bought the Fuel bc of the electronic shifting and other reasons but I'm nervous it won't have enough power. I'm not a strong rider but I also didn't like after riding the Rail I didn't feel like I'd had a workout. I wanted more of the traditional mtn bike ride but now I'm second guessing my decision. I had the first generation of the Rail and the battery had an error code so with the deals Trek has going on right now I couldn't pass it up. I'm just getting back into riding since I had a wreck so I don't care about riding fast but I would like to be able to keep up with others. Some have lower powered ebikes and some have Rails. I guess time will tell.

I bought one with 6 pawls because it is supposed to engage quicker with less torque so we'll see how that goes for me on some Bucklos which seem to be similar to other AliExpress brand ones. Have you tried it with more pawls now since this review 3 years ago?

Do not buy Bucklos they are a ripoff freewheel failed at 2000kms and no comeback. You have been warned!

Thank you, a great real life user review. I ordered mine last week so should be on it soon. Totally agree on bang for buck and the alloy/carbon price difference vs weight difference. It really is insignificant so difficult to justify paying the extra.

Your diagnosis is wrong the hub is slipping because the springs are not engageing the pauls simple , alloy freehub bodies are just dumb . Not really any true info in your review sorry i see your trying but not technical minded enough those hub looks like it would be fine if the pauls springs were replaced cleaned up with light grease .

Finally!! I have searched far and wide for someone who has purchased and built an Alloy eMTB from AliExpress. I cant wait to watch all your videos and am very grateful for taking the time in doing them. I know your bike was made in 2021 but even now in 2024 an alloy frame with Bafang motor are hard to find. Currently all the frames are carbon and the aluminium frames are very expensive. I am sure there are many like us who would prefer building up an alloy frame. My main reason is that hey can be knocked/thrown around without worrying about catastrophic failure.🤩

I know this is 3 years later but i still have these wheels for a few years already..i'm happy with them..they are still holding up.

So it’s nothing to do with the number of pawls the wear on the freehub is due to the power of the ebike motor driving through a aluminium freehub and steel cassette. The wear in your video looks like the whole internals of the pawl engagement mechanism is from movement on the axle, there should be no marks on the pawl side. Zitto now do a 6 pawl EMTB specific hub with steel freehub body and stronger axle

Thank you, saves me the time of venturing into another blue city that has gone to seed since COVID. Calling it a museum is generous since there are multiple copies of the same thing instead of the best copy of something on display as an example. Doubly so with the lack of curation on a lot of items it comes off looking like a junk shop. Really could have used a professional touch in curation and presentation.

You don't "hope" that you're within the weight range... you measure your motion ratio and do some math and then order the correct spring.

I believe one of these days this is on my bucket list to check this place out.

You got the cause wrong. The "teeth" you saw on the cassette carrier (around the pawls) is caused by the carrier being pushed into the teeth in the hub body. This is caused by a bad inner bearing on the cassette carrier. These chinese wheels are actually quite okay, but they come with bearings that are really, really bad. Make sure you always replace the bearings in the cassette carrier on a new wheelset like this.

I got to say trek has very good warranty. in my situation I owned a fuel exe 7.9 and I had problem after problem of just owning it for a year it was in the shop more than I actually rode it I felt. from wheel noises to rear shock noises to display and motor problems. Trek warranty and I both settled on just replacing the bike with a trek rail 8 which cost more than the 7.9 exe . that was awesome on there part only ridden it twice since winter came around. fingers cross no more issue moving forward. glad you don't have problems with yours. cheers

Do you still have your Serovat build? I used a Bafang M510 on a CF frame from Light Carbon. I really like the frame and mullet setup. While I like the M510, it does seem a bit unpredictable (torque delivery seem to be on-and-off … seems really susceptible to changes in cadence). The service from Bafang is non-existent IMO. Is a name brand, “store bought” bike somewhat better or a lot better than a diy in your opinion?

Do you think a size 12 boot would fit in the medium. Just order new k2 boots size 12 but can’t seem to find any dimensions.

This is the only review of these PASAK wheels I saw here in YT. Here in Asia they sell these online and advertise this as an 11 speed hub, what I received was a 12 speed hub with 6-pawls, it also included a spacer to accommodate 11 speed cassette. The rear wheel only costs 33USD (shipping already included).
