- Ten Years Gone is a rare Led Zeppelin live song, and The Rain Song is a live classic. And Hot Dog is just fun. Our first-time reaction to Knebworth (August 4, 1979) continues!
Neither of us have seen or heard these performances before. We are re-experiencing classic rock music, an album at a time, with fresh perspectives and active ears, so that Dev can learn and appreciate this music more, and so that Mike can relive his childhood.

Tens years gone is my favorite Zep somg
Pure talent and brilliance at the peak of their powers. No Autotune just real creative musically gifted lads doing what they do.
One of the rarer times that Jimmy played a Fender Telecaster. Cool.
All My Love was played frequently on their 1980 European Tour, fyi. I don't think Fool in the Rain was ever played live by Zep, although there are YT clips of Robert playing it live with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder.
Agreed, Ten Years Gone is a great song! The solo when the chords change and just how Jimmy plays it.
I seen them in 1975 and they must have played 2.5 hours What a great concert!
Prob 3.5, they regularly did 3+ hour shows 72 onward
He does a current lovely version of the Rain Song with the band Saving Grace on their tour. I saw them last night and they do the song proud.
Rain song fave led zeppelin song
Page and Jones were getting a little funky at the end of Ten Years Gone. King Crimson-y. Jimmy Page is just amazing. Pure emotion. Thank you Mike and Dev
👋😮👍
❤❤❤❤❤Robert❤❤❤❤❤
They are absolutely magnificent!
Jimmy was fighting demons but still brilliant
Lovely version of 10YG really well-played and delicately done, hard to pull off acoustic/electric crossover like that.
Love it when my home town gets a shout out by Robert (Newcastle) especially the awesome concert venue that is the City Hall
That is very cool.
@@MusicforBusyPeople it’s a very cool venue that’s still being used for concerts it’s nearly 100 years old
I can confirm that the crowd reaction to “ Hot Dog” was more “ WTF” than “ woohooo”. The close up shots of Jimmy during “ Rain Sing” are pretty difficult to handle tbh. He’s going through agonies trying to get his hands and fingers to do what his musical mind wants from them. Crowd were becoming pretty restless by now as this section of the set was mostly slowish pastoral numbers ( ex HD, which sucks ). It felt like the band had run out of energy tbh. How wrong we/they were. The best was yet to come.See you next time Sir and Madam. Best wishes from England. 🏴
I agree well said
YAY!!! **Luvit** & **LuvYaBoth** Ten Years Gone & The Rain Song **Fantastical** & **Hot Dog** is Fun Thank YOU Both!!!
I had no idea that Page didn't play is Less Paul on Ten Years Gone or that Jones his triple neck guitar on it as well
The Fender he’s using has a unique kind of whammy bar on it that you can hear him using when he’s bending the stings that’s why he used it on Ten Years Gone during the 77 US Tour and these shows
It was fantastic , thanks guys ❤
Seen pictures of this concert many times but never knew it was video taped.
Glad I got to see it before I left this blue marble.
Many thanks.
Rain Song and Ten Years Gone were great, but Hot Dog?
It's possibly LZ's worst song.
But, ok.
But it was nice to see this.
Thanks again.
So Tasty 😊
The 4 year hiatus was mainly down to Robert’s accident in 76 and then losing Karac in 77. 1978 was taken up by Robert taking time away from the spotlight and Bonzo trying to persuade Robert not to quit the band along with recording ITTOD
I see. They toured the US in '77 before Karac died.
@@MusicforBusyPeople yeah the US was seen as a bigger priority for Peter Grant after a “short” tour in 75. Had Karac not passed away the 77 US Tour would have been the biggest they had ever done. Pretty much the whole of 1977 spent touring the whole of the USA and parts of Canada. The USA had the stadiums big enough for the concerts the band were putting on. The UK only really had football stadiums which were open to the elements and with our crappy weather it was too much of a risk to have an outdoor show even in the summer months.
Thought you listen to TYG from LA 6.21.77
You are correct. I meant we hadn't SEEN a Zeppelin performance of it. I put in a correction.
@@MusicforBusyPeople Ah ok true true. Wish they would have played it in 75 but it is also on the Seattle 77 show. Dont remember if you reviewed that entire concert or not. If you do find the “remastered” version, it’s better sound.
I guess they substituted it for _In My Time of Dying_
@@MusicforBusyPeople yeah would of thought @ EC it would have been nice replacement for tangerine although really good TYG would have been nice going into the acoustic section like the 77 set list
Pretty good, aren't they?😊❤
