Matthew is a ventriloquist
If you get down to it, aside from combo lines these strategies aren't all that different from casual EDH, are they? There's a multicolor control pile, an izzet-based spells and wheels deck, a multicolor goodstuff pile, simic ramp, 5 color superfriends, token aggro, and more simic-based ramp.
Cedh should have just ignored the bans.
$5,000 decklist :(
I was SO hoping for a Glarb top. Loved to see so much diversity in a meta like this. Love to see the differences in meta feom oversees. Great video, loved the coverage
Just watched your last few videos, havnt looked into the game a whole lot or watched content since the bans. Hope everybody still playing is having a great time with the format. For me these videos have only made me sad or reafirmed the idea that the format and its identity that I enjoyed is gone. Rip Kenrith, Niv mizzet, korvold, zhuludock. Rip turbo decks in cedh, and I guess forever reign Tymmna lord of powerful commander games
What are your thoughts on Glarb? I just built it and I like it but what are your thoughts on how strong it is in the current meta? Do you see it being a top deck soon or eventually?
Narset 🔥
awesome video, just a little hard on the ears because of the very heavy voice frying but great job
Why is perplexing chimera not in the Kinnan list? That’s actually wild. Seedborn homeward path and chimera is stuuuupid I’ve had pod after pod just scoop when its out
Also machine gods effigy and devoted Druid is sweet too
Can you put out a psa telling players to start duplicating lists before they submit them? We shouldn’t be submitting “live” lists for tournaments. It’s bad for data.
@davidew345 tournament organizers have the option to have locked in lists just by pressing one button, a lot of them just fail to do it.
Mishra's Workshop has been a staple for Magda for a long time. We've always been heavy on the artifacts and this being one of the best artifact-syngeristic lands in the format.
@niclasigerot9262 I've been looking into lists and playing Magda, it doesn't look like it's considered a must staple in that it's in all successful lists but it looks powerful and im definitely playing it.
Was supposed to be at this event but got the sickness. Narset is a good friend of mine so it was nice to see him do so well
I like how you sprinkle in all the little interactions into your analysis, that unless you play a deck aren't immediately apparent. Like how Path might be a good card for a deck running Bolas' Citadel, because it can force a reshuffle. I can imagine after so many videos it can be hard to find things to talk about; keep up the good work!
I just picked up plagon and I had him in the new kykar i immediately swapped him for kykar😂
Just put together Plagon myself! As I was researching cards for the deck, I saw Kitsa and Dour-Port Mage and immediately threw them in the list. They're just free value in Plagon imo.
finally my lad Raffine gets some love!
I would love to see a video of sam and you talk about rog thrass. i really like that deck
Having Sam on would make for a cool video
An actual quote from this guy @3:28 "Drannith actually not really a staple". He said that in the real world. Ok Bro..... Then @ 59:00 Procedes to tell us he plays Drannith in his Plagon deck. Dammit Lemoras! Put your money where you're mouth is!
I think he's saying that in the post Dockside meta it's no longer a staple, which based on the numbers would seem to be true.
@@ttapprentice You aren't seriously taking me serious, are you?
@worstcaseofcrabsever5510 Plagon gets to run absolute bangers most decks can't even imagine playing like Shield Sphere. Very few decks realize the true potential of Drannith was in its 1/3 body 🙏🏼
@@LemorasCards For Shure. I was gonna try a plagon clone version when I get around to it. Is this a bad idea? cards like Augustine, Sunscape Familiar, and Sakashima. You on the Machine God's effigy on that one?
Read the stat line on Drannith and take a guess as to why Plagon is an obvious place for it
I think we HAVE to talk about tithe being better than necro
Curious... Do events like these allow proxy?
@seikers7 yes most do and this one did!
Yep, the mana vault is a proxy friendly shop
Picked up Breya a couple months ago and I've been having a blast! Glad to see it doing something relevant again 😊
@@jeremyglaze it looks like a lot of fun!
"I'm itching to touch her." 👀
Well, the flaw of the Dualcaster combo being easily countered is kinda lessened by the breach lines. Sure on itself it's not great but once you can recast it 10 times in a row it matters way less how easy it is to interact with it. I have a Dihada in my playgroup and the deck is resilient enough to push trough a decent amount of interaction with all the graveyard shenanigans.
The winning deck had 103 cards main deck wondering what 3 cards he wasn’t playing
@@yojimbotv8554 should be able to look at the history on moxfield and see
rog thras ! so nice , get sam black... PLZ :) super content
@@andersanders1265 thank you! I'll have to look into it!
Where is my Sir Mix-A-Lot secret lair version of Plagon?
@stevenreidy116 wizards needs to give the people what they want
Walking ballista seems like a waste, no? Feel like a better card can go in its spot because if you have infinite mana, you just use Breya.
@Coulrophobia29 might be that having an infinite mana outlet even without colored mana or your commander is worth it? Not sure!
It does at least cleanly let you kill a player with ring protection in the upkeep without needing a flash enabler.
@@LemorasCards Thats a fair point, but I think interaction or a card advantage engine might be better slotted in
Breya pilot here. Walking Ballista still kills with Drannith out
@ Wouldnt a removal spell work better though, and is used in more situations?
I've played a lot of raffine rogsi and tameshi
@@BigScaryGamerMan67 I'm too small brain for Tameshi
@LemorasCards he's super confusing but if you play enough all spells azorious temeshi modern it makes it feel more simple and just kinda mellows out in you're head
I met you in ATL just want say, you are a cool dude. I think your point on the format rubs me a way (only bc I love this format) but I can’t disagree. I didnt want to agree about rhystic pretty much dominating games and determining the outlook. I just tried to adjust to rhystic play patterns. It’s kinda difficult. I try to run anti draw/draw hate like Notion thief for example. But that just not enough… what can help on the ban list that can be unbanned to put some more variety in the game?
@kaydub1181 thank you! I do my best. I think it's already inherently pretty tough to build around effects that punish casting spells when that's what the whole game of Magic is about anyways. Bits of fast mana like crypt, dockside, and to an extent jeweled lotus made it worth punish through and/or made paying for these effects more reasonable and i think did help keep the game from being too much about the engines. It's hard to say what should come off, and im not sure if anything other than those cards would be meaningfully good against those strategies while not making just those piles better and be healthy to introduce. Id like Crypt and or Lotus back and Rhystic gone, but also we should probably not get new generic blue tools that slot into these piles like we did especially with Bloomburrow.
I'm very high on Plagon. Very fun deck and I'll be playing it for a while. It's always a fun time at the beach!
Keep up the good work! Enjoy your content 🙂
@@madsmunkrasmussen9678 thank you!
Raffine is awesome I played against it once (casual not cEDH) when I was using Shattergang and I loved how fast that Raffine can start conniving.
Cover the royal rumble by kings court from this past weekend
@Blueishten apparently they accidentally deleted the lists but I'm trying to get them.
Plagon is def cool. Is he as cool as my boy Gaddock Teeg tho??? Nah lol. ❤❤❤
So happy to see Rog Thras Otters get some love, deck is so much fun to play!
I've seen a bit of variation inb Starfish lists. Do you have one you play/prefer?
@WhiskeyDingo98 moxfield.com/decks/n31c3Cif90q7aZJJgNSjdg this is close to my current list, I have Fleshraker in i think in paper and am considering spellseeker and/or urza maybe cutting elesh norn or thoracle
@@LemorasCards Urza seems like a really nice add with all the random weirdo artifacts the list plays. I really liked that from the video's list too.
The Raffine player here, thx for the coverage.. just wana point out in the primer explains why no heavy reanimation package.. also how each of my combos work (i explain the priest "nonbo" in the combo it matters) and does explain why some cards better.. I also note in that im currently cutting morbing combo for necro lines as it will add flash spells in to my piles.. .i do link to a list were i did a tournament report..
Been playing Raffine locally since it’s release, the list is three cards different than mine, so nice to see it make the cut. Nice job!
Tameshi is on faerie mastermind because we can do tithe then clone tithe to make infinite mana/draw under a silence. On top of just being value
I actually just built a Plagon, Lord of the Beach deck and it’s pretty crazy. I was starting to look into some Azorius builds for cEDH and since I knew Shorikai, Genesis Engine used to be pretty popular I built him, but man Plagon just shoots him outta the water from what I’ve seen. Don’t get me wrong Shorikai’s card draw package is nice and all but being able to draw sometimes 4-5 cards cause you’ve got stax pieces like Drannith, Soulless Jailer, Spellskite, etc on board is just so nice. Course when I was play testing I would still mostly win with my Magda deck but that’s just the Magda way 😎
Plagon flicker seems fun.
Play tested vista, and not happy with it.
@arturstasienko2234 seems very mid to me, last change I made to the mana was i just cut steam vents for rejuvenating springs since I just cut wheel and basically only have one red card and im very happy with how the list feels now.
Ty for the content, always a good video man!
@@codykizer6359 thank you!
YOOOO A BREYA LIST LET’S GOOOO
@@spacewizardpip1111 i hope she starts to see more play!
@ I’ll definitely be playing a list like this one. She’s one of my favorite commanders and just feels so rewarding to pop off with too.
Apple of Eden has a great home in Tameshi even from the graveyard. Once you get infinite mana/infinite buy back you can Apple 3 times and take each of your opponents hands.
It's also a nice little wincon with MOM and Codex Shredder. Mill everyone out, Apple each opponent, and then cast an opponents spell to force them to draw on an empty library.
Very diverse top 16, only one repeat deck. Meta seems like it's still not solved yet.
@a.velderrain8849 very cool stuff, they have a really interesting local meta with both high level players and some of the best deck builders so it's always a treat to see!
Solved ya its solved, there is just more decks that are basically even. ty/thras is prob the best deck with the density of wincons, tnk/rog/si are near there, and then you got the if i got the good hand and they can't answer i win magda. and a bunch of t2's ...(by solved i mean best decks, all the decks swap around 5-6 cards for flavor/fun/meta)
I love how a few weeks ago you were hating on the format and the top 16 was hella diverse
@Gleebusaz i dont think I'll ever not enjoy looking at lists and discussing the format, but I dislike the toxic play patterns and horrific seat order discrepancy we currently see a lot of. So yeah I do enjoy seeing a cool event, why would that be surprising? I won a tournament this past weekend and I'll still say I dislike the current format.
Our quarterly report we just did probably showcases it best. There are cool things you can do and fun to be had but overall the format statistically is about Tymna piles and who got better seating.
@@LemorasCards so why don’t you start making a change, why not start preaching people countering\killing Tymnas and rhystics Would that not be better than just Btching about how the format is?
Why not preach and show yourself paying for all rhystics and tithes like you complain about the format yet do nothing to play against it, that achieves nothing
@Gleebusaz you aren't watching me play games i don't understand what you're talking about. Saying to pay for rhystic or how to play through it doesn't address those play patterns. I dislike that that's all the game is about, how you handle those cards is super context dependent. You're fixating on me disliking the format on a video where I'm showcasing interesting things in the format. I don't get what you get out of it, or how my voicing concerns for this format doing well a few weeks ago is relevant.
👍
