Kershaw Cargo edge retention testing issues. The large thumb studs and short blade height won't allow for a sharpening angle lower than 18 dps. Add to that the blade is already thick at .030 bte and I don't think I'll do any testing on this one. Contact me at gdniel@yahoo.com As always I appreciate your time and thanks for watching.

I like the short videos, but the longer format videos were good too. Btw do have a version of the spreadsheet that you have links to in your older videos and do you still make it available? I would love to view it if you would not mind. If you don’t share it anymore no worries and I completely understand. Keep up the great work!!

@@Outpost_76 I bet if you requested someone with great MS Excel or Google Sheets experience would do likely take on making updates and changes to it. You could give “read only / view only” access to the public but allow you and whom ever you choose to have exit access to the entire spreadsheet or you might be able to limit by tabs in the spreadsheet if you wanted to make the raw data tab only editable by you. Just a thought that could take the work off of your plate but get your results out to the community. I have some experience with spreadsheets but I am not fluent in how to make complex formulas and graphs at the moment. It’s been many years since I’ve messed with anything like this and even back then I was still no expert and left the hard stuff to other people on the work team.

I carry the crkt Dextro. Its an awesome knife and is D2. Ive never had such a difficult time trying to get a knife razor sharp😅 all my other knives i can get scary sharp, but the Dextro is a lot more tricky IMO. I can get it to shave my hair, but it wont cut paper well. Super weird.

Thanks for the content. I do enjoy the data you provide. Those thumb studs are right in the way. Having to remove studs to sharpen means having to remove them for stropping too. No thanks. Also, they’re right in the cutting path so the usable blade is even smaller than it seems. Happy new year

I have a 4" bench top belt sander with 6" wheel. I'm planning on disassembling it, then putting all 4 pieces together and using tape to secure it, so I can sand it all together. I take the blade out and reassemble the handle. Just keep it square to your belt so both sides come out even. That also gives you the handle feel as you work, then you can stop before too much material is removed. A backspacer makes a huge difference in feel once you do the skinny mod.

According to OUTDOORS55, the heat treat and Rockwell hardness for these knives are good. However, the way they're sharpened at the factory screws up the heat treat on the apex. That's why they do dull so fast.

Looking forward to seeing the "Walmart" knives fade from the top of the discussions in the knife community. GP Knives has a Spyderco exclusive, Smock in Rex 45 (sold out for now) hoping to get the version without the coating when it comes out. The Manix2 in Rex45 has been my EDC for the past 6 months. @@PoetFisherman it really is an excellent user steel. My SPY27 Native 5 LW has really impressed me and I’ve been using it pretty hard over the last year. It shrugs off bumps and dings that would chip its S30V counterpart and sharpened back with half the effort. The steel was so impressive that I picked up a Manix 2 LW in it a few months back… and it’s been equally amazing. When I heard that crucible might be going the way of the dodo, I decided to pull the trigger on a UKPK and a Sage 5 in SPY27.
