You Won’t Believe What We Want To Teach You!
We wanted to do a shameless promotion of our teaching classes that we have been working and placing on Skillshare.
We are both commercial photographers, videographers and teachers.
Rob recently posted a new class called 'Stills To Motion' where it teaches on how a still photographer can explore video and motion capture. Not feel intimated by it. It's for those who'd like to do a bit of video work for themselves if they've been curious about it.

Mini Keg Growlers Review | Alternative to Plastic Bottles for Carbonation | by Keg Outlet

You asked and we found it! Or more like it found us. Either way a happy reunion :) The lovely folks @KegOutlet had reached out to us late last year and told us about a product that they'd been working on. An alternative to using plastic bottles when using your carbonation setup at home. Both them and us had been receiving a lot of requests if such a thing existed and not having to use a glass b...

    I've seen overpriced stuff from kegworks before, but I think this takes the cake. If you don't need the milk jug aesthetic you can get a similar setup for half the cost on almost any global marketplace or straight from China for even cheaper. It's even cheaper if you don't need extreme portability to just get corny kegs, even new small ones, which gives you more options for utility and dispensing.

    A very interesting video. Just wondering whether it would be possible if you already have a Sodastream to fix it to the counter top and run the hose from where the small cylinder connects through the counter top into the cupboard below and have the big tank stored in there and connected. That way you can use the 5lb tank rather than having to keep buying the small refills, but keep the convenience of the easy to use Sodastream system.

    • @NadiaandRob
      @NadiaandRob 15 днів тому

      Glad you enjoyed the video! There are definitely adaptors to attach a tank to a sodastream, and I assume you could run the hose up from the cupboard. Should be easy to accomplish, and will definitely save you $$$ on refills! If you have space in the cupboard, go for a 10lb tank, since it costs about the same to refill, and it means fewer trips to the gass supplier. Have fun!

    This is SOOO in my wheelhouse! I’ve got two CO2 tanks for off-roading (to inflate aired down tires), but what a great dual use idea, since I buy cases and cases of fizzy waters. One of the ingredients in standard unsweetened waters is referred to as “natural flavors” or “essence”. I looked up both to find that it some of the flavors are derived from beavers. They have a gland that produces a secretion that is used for these flavors. My wife calls it Beaver Butt Juice. So I’d like to try what’s being presented in this video!! Fantastic info!!

    Hi Guys, Years ago I bought a carbon pan to escape Teflon, but now there’s a lot of press about leaching iron into food with cast iron and how bad that can be for you. Do you all know of good sources of information on carbon steel / iron leaching, and if we are leeching iron with a good seasoning coat in place? (Cast supposedly can leach up to 6-grams a meal which requires mid-evil blood letting to sort out) Chris

    • @NadiaandRob
      @NadiaandRob Місяць тому

      Hi Chris, We haven't seen anything from a reliable, well documented source about this. Given that people have been cooking in carbon steel and cast iron since the first mining of iron, I think they can be considered safe. We do know that the chemical coatings of non-stick pans definitely scratch off, so our choice would be to go with the basic and well tested steel.

    • @christopherlaborde1670
      @christopherlaborde1670 Місяць тому

      What seems to be coming out is that man, since the beginning of time, has had occasions to bleed; but in the modern day world we don’t seem to lose as much blood (the details aren’t that savory but they often have to do with “wee beesties”). As a result, the iron stays in our systems and an excess of iron is as bad as a lack of iron. In particular, an excess of iron seems to accelerate aging and various cancers, not too unlike Teflon and other forever chemicals. If you do happen to stumble across any good information comparing cast iron to carbon steel, please do share it. Thank you

    As a home "carbonator" for over 20 years, I offer a few suggestions... Purchase extra washers and O-rings. You will likely NOT be able to find these at your local hardware store. These will wear out and cause leaks down the road. These, especially the O-rings, should be lubricated... I use "Sanitary Petrol-Gel" from McGlaughlin Oil Co. But there are others as well. This is a food-safe, tasteless and odorless lubricant used by the soda industry... and very inexpensive and lasts forever. I lubricate once each month - takes 10 seconds with a q-tip or clean fingertip. I also find it simpler to leave the filler cap inside the retractable connector. This further reduces wear on the lubricated O-ring... you will find the cap will freely spin within the connector allowing it to easily screw onto the bottle. I also change and lubricate the O-ring on the regulator where it attaches to the tank. Replacement can only be done using an Allen key. Using the lubricant I change these gaskets only when needed and these last me a little over a year. I prepare 4 two-liter bottles every day for my family. One other thing... water absorbs CO2 best when cold. Refrigerating your water first helps... but we have made a habit of leaving 4-inches of soda in the bottle then freezing it... then top up the bottle with filtered water and begin carbonation. Cheers to all!

    Can I use a San Pelligrino 1 liter glass bottle?

      We don't recommend using glass bottles, as there is a risk of them shattering. Also, I dont believe the threads match the carbonation caps. If you want to avoid using plastic bottles, stay tuned here.... a new very cool solution is coming soon!

    Howdy. We saw your vids and now have a similar system. I've taken it a step further, though. We bought a bottle capper. ( it puts/seals bottle caps on appropriate glass bottles, that is on 1's that had caps on them originally. ) It was less the $20, & came with about 150 caps. ( more can be purchased as needed). I mix a batch, fill the bottles, cap them, & they last longer than plastic bottles with screw on lids.( not certain how long. I've only started doing it 3 weeks ago. However, the 1st 1 I did was good as new after 3 weeks). 😅 Though you have to mix it up in an appropriate plastic bottle. Just a heads up. Enjoy. 😊

      You might consider getting a corny keg, at minimum could help you carbonate much more at once and then bottle fill from it, either directly from a tap or cobra tap, or go full on and build a soda water kegerator, you can make them continuously refilling and always have it available.

      @@punkdigerati thank you for that information. Unfortunately, I'm on a somewhat restricted budget. But I'll look into it. 🙂

    Damn i really regret buying a soda stream now. I already purchased a 4.5kg c02 tank to get out of their system, but i really should have looked up this stuff first!!

    Are the bitters artificial flavors?

      No, Bitters are extracts from the botanicals or flavor items. I believe most are natural flavors.

    Nice to see someone into carbonation as much as me. I can't do no 2 liter bottle because as soon as you open it and put it in the fridge it will never be the same so I buy the cans but im looking for a better way to re carbonate my drinks
