Raging Fire in the Flaming Star Nebula

I have not imaged the Flaming Star Nebula and finally decided to put the scope that direction. What a surprise I had when SII seemed even stronger than Ha and OIII was almost nonexistent. The SII (not surpising) was more detailed, but the surprise to me was the extend of it. Filling the frame even more than the Ha. The OIII I believe is mostly not OIII but part of the reflection nebula around V* AE Aur. There are only 2 visible galaxies peaking through and just barely, the entire image is just emission nebula. Orientated this way it really reminds me of a raging forest fire. You can almost see the movemetn of the flames reach up and getting blue hot up towards V* AE Aur. I also thought the HSS+OIII palette just looked so cool and mystical.

Thanks for another excellent video. Good to see you find time to do some astrophotography as well as making all these amazing tools for us. I know what my new SII filter will be pointed at next time we have a clear night!
Hey Frank, superb work! What was your focal length - somehow missed the number? I am working with an C14 but I guess this is even with Hyperstar a multi-mosaic target…thanks
Just saw your Astrobin entry: iOptron 10in f/4 :-)
Yep, 1000mm focal length
Sweeeeeet! Thank you Frank. I have unprocessed data on this but might give it another go. I image at about 900mm so reckon a 2 pane mosaic might be a good idea. Not done a mosaic so interesting trial. With UK weather it might take a while to get the data!
The detail is incredible, Frank! 🙌
I also like the Xmas version 🎉
This is almost what I was looking for. Only wish there was some way to open, remove crop mask, save/overwrite. I've been trying with this but there's no way to incorporate the file save operations. Even tried the ImageFileManager to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! This seems like more folks would be asking for this. Of course, it would be preferable if WBPP gave you an option to not add that to the file as well as file naming templates. Thanks for all the great tools!
Saving and overwriting can be done. You need to add files to the image container, not windows. Then specify your directories. It will process on the files and save them. I think i actually show doing that in one of my annotation videos for annotating an asteroid
This is wild cool! Love your work mate ✨
Stunning!
This looks great. I shot and have all my separate color channels but I'm having a hard time getting things looking like this
Did you shoot in full SHO? It takes a good amount of color masking to get your palette where you want it. There is also selective color correction in jurgen's toolbox if you have that script too
@setiv2 i shot with OSC and filters to get my Ha. O3 and s2 channels. But when I stretch and combine them...they don't look good. I also shot 1000s exposures. I'm thinking that hurt me...
@jonathanritter7364 if you dont mind sharing your master light stacks I eouldnt mind taking a look
@@setiv2 how do I send them to you?
@jonathanritter7364 you can upload them to a cloud drive and email me the link is the easiest way
happy holidays Frank
Incredible image Frank!
That Sulphur image looked like a Beksinski landscape. Stunning final image.
Your version inspired me to capture far more hours to bring out such amazing details.
Really nice shot
thank you so much for this video, thanks to this now I assembled my first mosaic
Congrats!!!
Great👍👍👍👍👍💥💥
S2 is the unsung hero of the SHO pallet. =D
Thank you Frank, your software and videos have really increased my interest in the hobby. Since I live in Bortle 9+, learning narrowband processing and cosmic clarity has made it possible for me to get some nice images with pleasing colors and detail! I hope these tools integrate well into Siril in the future.
That's gorgeous, Frank. Nicely done!
Man That's JWST Level Image. I Wonder What Your Imaging Rig Looks Like? 15 Min Subs You Say? Now I Am More Eager To Know Your Setup. It's Mind Boggling. Kudos For Everything You Did So Far For The Community
very cool. I wonder what the forax pallet would look like. Ive messed with it a bit and sometimes really like the result
@@davechaton6771 it wasnt good. I tried it lol. Almost exactly like the hoo
Great tool again! I have encounter a couple issue. The Pixinsight script does not run in batch mode. Using the standalone app works very well but it does not save the FITS data associated with the image. That means I am not able to run the weighted batch preprocessing script. Hopefully this can be easily fixed. Thanks!
Are you saying the fits header data isnt saving for you?
@@setiv2 Correct. The fits header data is completely empty.
Just wanted to let you know that I downloaded de latest version of the suite and this one works well under Windows 11. The fits data header is saved. BTW, could it be possible to make it work so that not only works on the root folder but includes all the subfolders?
I think this will be a valuable addition to the satellite trail remover.
Great tutorial Frank! If I have additional OIII data - e.g. for M31 - I assume I handle the OIII somewhat the same as the HA up to the point at 15:25, then use Combine RGB and NB data as you briefly mention. Or would there be anything else/different I might be missing?
Nope you should be good. I like making a full narrowband image and screening the whole thing to the rgb or you can fo seperate channels too
Windows version does not work for me. Some black window pops up for a second and that's all. Any help?
Ok. I was able to run debug version. Software works, but result is not even close to what we can see in the video. The possible reason is that I am dealing with geostationary trails near celestial equator. In one frame I have multiple traces of satellites but they are short. They do not cross entire frame, just part of it. On some frames I can see that scirpt tried to do something, but failed. Unfortunately.
Are they faint? You can always shoot me an email
@@setiv2 Rather faint. I'll send an email with screens. Thank you.
Great because the first image I tried it on just left the trail and added 2 colored round blurry patch along the trail !!!
What galaxies are these?
That is M51
AVG AntiVirus is reporting "Win64:Evo-gen[Trj] in the windows suite setiastrocosmicclarity_satellite.exe file and removes this file . Do you run a virus checker before posting files?
@robotwillie1099 i dont show any virus on my end. Sometimes virus scanners dont like the neural net files from non certified developers. I cant help much if it shows a virus on your end, only thing I can recommend is either whitelist the program or choose not to use it, or alternatively, i make all my code publicly available. If you want to download the raw python and compile it on your end that is an option too
Thank you, I will look into it on my end.
Awesome stuff! I don't know you you do it but you must be the most prolific programmer ever. Thank your your huge contribution to the community. Is there a chance that a port of Bill's Narrowband Normalization script makes into the Seti Astro Suite in the future for those who don't have PI? 👀
you will have to ask bill lol personally I don't use his narrowband normalization script at all, I just dont like the results, nothing against those that do, but a big portion of what motivates me to make these programs are things that help me, call me selfish :)
@@setiv2 it's clear that it's not selfish at all! haha
Hello, I'm trying to add this onto Mac but its unable to find it when searching in Feature Scripts... any advice please?
You added the repository url?
Ha, see you Later Elon! Well done 😊
First off i want to thank you for your contribution to the astro world and i was wondering if there might be any plans of making a script for cosmic clarity sharpen and denoise for siril or any scripts for siril.?? Thank you again for all your work in this hobby
I am currently working with the developer of siril around this. You should join my discord. He was able to get statistical stretch script into a futures versuon of siril
Wow, I was already impressed by your work. But to make a "soft" suggestion and see it implemented the next day is quite something! When one thinks about some of the commercial developers who don't even fix clear bugs... No competition!
Really appreciate your work. Plenty of great tools.
Absolutely fantastic having this greatly needed feature to address our ever crowded night skies ✨🚀
Probably tumbling space junk
Or that solar sail that's still tumbling
Wow this is awesome been in the hobby about a year not tech savvy at all this is a huge help thank you
I used to do this manually with clonestamp (painting '0' over the sattelite trail), this will be a timesaver.
Awesome tools. Thank you very much. Your final comments were interesting. There have been times I did not dither enough and ended up with some walking noise. Something like this could perhaps be trained to deal with such walking noise. As well, I do get horizontal banding and Sirils tool to deband an image does help, perhaps down the road, a tool such as this could also be trained on such noise. Thanks again for all of your incredible work for the community.
Thank you so much for your amazing work for the astrophotography community. Your software is wonderful!
