_"It's basically D&D 5e"_ 13th Age and 4e consistently get brought up in wargaming circles more than 5e does for good reason
Id love too see some gameplay. I absolutely love 40k and watch all I can find
I would enjoy a in-depth conversation about the warp. You interpret the warp as being the power source to all...well powers. I assume this includes the Waagh. And in turn, likely, explains how everything orks believe is made real. Their thoughts are being powered by/manifested by the warp? But I'm a bit more curious about what you think the warp is. Is it "hell" in the traditional sense...the dimension where all the dead go? Hmmmm.
Woo oo glass cannon!!!
I'm thinking of having my players be revealed to all have traits of the celestial hollyphant, as all her magic may have exploded outwards and been granted to random adventurers - the PCs. The hollyphant won't travel with the party, as I find that the players would rather feel like the main characters. Hopefully this will be a more fun experience for them overall, what do you think?
I think that sounds cool but I'd tell that to the players and not reveal it in game. Use it as a way to get buy-in from them as opposed to a story thing they didn't sign up for and is forced on them. Very much a personal preference though!
So we just started it the other day, and i noticed a few typing mistakes and in the very beginning it has gravity shift to the ceiling but never mentions it unshifting as soon as a player called it out i was also confused rereading the few pages it never actually tells you how or why everything is back on the ground. 😂
Unfortunately typos are pretty common in the first releases of Cubicle 7 products, quality is still overall great and I chalk it up to a small team doing a ton of stuff!
I'm getting some West End Games vibes from the system.
I'd be down to play
I just went and looked at Fall of Elturel, and I can't help noticing that it *still* doesn't place the adventure in Elturel; it sends you out into the woods! I feel like, if you want the players to develop a real relationship to Elturel, you have to put them in the city.
Great video… I’m struggling atm been running and playing RPG’s consistently for 39 years now, and I’m really close to hanging up my dice… looking for a last push attempt to motivate myself and contemplating either this or west end games Star Wars… I’m a completely narrative driven GM these days but my players love the crunch, and no matter how much they say they don’t mind me subverting the lore… they are heavily into 40k… so I have the lore aspect and the number crunching aspect to contend with. This vid has at least helped clear up a little of what to expect if I run 40k so thank you 🙏🏼
Good review. Thank you.
Lots me on dice pools and different colored dice honestly. I’m not a power crunchy gamer guy but I might wait for the percentile version.
You'll like Imperium Maledictum!
Love you're 13th age video's
hello, what is this music?
Can it be played at Roll20?
Yes! But the Foundry VTT module is better.
Where can I get or make good maps for something like 40k? Most map makers I see use alot of more happy and fantasy assets.

So, SCP the Boardgame. I'm in.
Yeah, I’ve always been baffled by 13A isn’t betterloved. And I completely don’t understand Pelgrane press. My customer experience with them has been absolutely horrible for years. The few times I’ve seen them at major, major conventions their presence is beyond underwhelming. I asked questions about some items in the lineup and they literally shrugged. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing.
Just discovered your channel, fantastic... I've said, you can tell the players WHAT their characters see, smell, hear, taste, touch, etc... their senses, but never tell the players HOW anything! How you feel, or what you feel... I guess the externals versus the internals... the internals are always for the player to give life to, to tell, to describe., never for the GM. As a GM I want players to have complete agency over their characters unless some game mechanic comes into play and lately, I've been pondering emergent happenings, proactive roleplaying and the world is more reactive to the players rather than the players reacting to what happens around them... just some outload thoughts.
I have been running a campaign. Currently my players went from being Gangers Scum to Rogue Traders lol
13th Age brought me here. Your videos helped me jump in. I'd love to hear your impressions of the 2e materials.
There has been a crazy inflation in kickstarter prices. Can't catch up unless it is something I am extremely interested in. A few years ago, I could back out of interest a project, now, I have to think really hard whether it is something that justifies the price and will see table time.
I know this is an older video but I'm just info diving into W&G now and I'd definitely like to know if you're looking for folks to play and dicuss about it?
It sounds a bit like the world of darkness dice system. Just with d6 instead of d10.
you forgot to mention DnD in the Topic ! :)
lol I did in the thumbnail!
This is how you do a game review. I'd love to hear your thoughts on other games like Symbaroum and Vampire the Requiem.
Fun fact vampire the requiem was my first TTRPG ever when I was an edgy teenager
It seems expensive because they offer SIX books. Which is A LOT. Just starting with the worldguide and the first adventurebook would start you out at the same price as most other RPG games. D&D is actually more expensive per book.
How is this close to dnd? Its like saying cyberpunk and call of duty are close to each other because they're fps 😂😂
D20, roll high, modifiers, same skills. Didn’t say it’s D&D just said it’s close to enough to be easy to learn for someone who knows D&D, which is by design and mentioned in their FAQ.
@@polyhedron3386 I have played the Bridge Nine adventure with my D&D group and they instantly understood all the rules because it's so similar to D&D. So yeah, it is indeed close enough to be easy to learn for someone who knows D&D. In my opinion, it's a slightly simpler, more refined and streamlined version of D&D in the cosmere setting, with a slightly bigger focus on roleplaying elements which allows for a bit more creativity, plottwists and variety in gameplay. Which is AWESOME! I absolutely LOVED it.
People need to stop associating every d20 game as some form of D&D. Cosmere Rpg IS NOT a D&D game. Using the d20 does not equal D&D.
Didn’t say it’s D&D just said it’s close to enough to be easy to learn for someone who knows D&D, which is by design and mentioned in their FAQ.
Overpriced? Even with shipping the GM tier is less expensive than any combination of 6 D&D books. Maybe that's just the exchange rate
I compared the pricing of everything with DnD books and minis and products and the price is honestly suuuuper reasonable. And lots of ways to customize what you get via Add-ons anyways too. SO excited for this :)
Oh and also, if you scroll down to the resources, you can get a free pdf of the beta rules. They might change and don't have all the stuff, but still neat
As somebody said, the digital tier 1 let's you pick any combo of 2 books. You should check the stretch goals, though I get that editing takes time so the video might have been made before they revealed it
Played the first half of the test adventure this weekend and will conclude on the next. Very interesting system, great RP possibilities, plot die is fun without being a burden like FFG's Star Wars. And being in the Cosmere, to me, is a huuuuge plus.
The 60 and 90 dollar tiers let you pick which 2 books you want. So to get the game rules digitally is only $60.
yes^ this is correct
I think the lure of IP can be very helpful to the ttrpg space. My first game was the West End Games version of Star Wars. From there, I witnessed the same group play VtM and D&D. I've loved the hobby ever since.
Very interested, but I can wait.
What is the difference between the old w&g core book and the new one should I get the new one or is the old one okay to use with the starter set adventure
You sold me on 13th Age for the new campaign I'm planning. Thank you, good sir.
Ive been playing Delta Green for the past couple years, and the character bonds system is the best part. I like Call of Cthulhu as well, but the major difference was one of my players having to lie to his wife, miss a 4th of July celebration together to go on the mission, and then eventually die. The realisation that his wife never knew where he went or would ever know what happened to him sunk in... And it was amazing. Talk about horror.k
Genuinely gut wrenching material- if you read Delta Green for anything, its the deeply unsettling "gets under your skin" vibes of it, a horror that's all too real. If you read the post-script for the God's Teeth campaign, your stomach will sink, I guarantee it
But what's the gameplay loop? Old school D&D has a gameplay loop based around dungeon crawling and loot. Traveller has a gameplay loop revolving around spaceship mortgages. What is Wrath and Glory's gameplay loop that helps the game play itself and gives agency to the players?
Of course I, too, want these Coast‑dwelling Wizards dead. They killed off games that I know and still love to this day! Happy 20th anniversary... To that dead game. 🥲😥
Not even Hasbro-Wiz can kill DnD, as long as players always come back and buy their slob. They are the Nestlé of ttrpg
Every piece of art is a just a slight variation of elements from other pieces of art. Repeat the process over and over again, and you get creativity
"We don’t need to kill DnD" okay but I want to
Do you think basic fantasy will be a good start for a group with no experience in ttrpg?
That sounds like a good time!
It is!
Wrath & Glory is a great game, and now that Imperium Maledictum is out, it turns out it's a great game too (skill based, d100). Turns out 40k is a great setting for more than "just" wargames and novels and video games!
Agree! It's such a rich setting, with so much space for interpretation.
Ever since I discovered Ironsworn (including Starforged and Sundered Isles), I have found it decidedly difficult to get back into other gaming systems due to the astounding capacity for the aforementioned system(s) to replicate practically any (and I do mean ANY) existing gaming system due to the inherent narrative based style of play. External gear and equipment is kept so abstract that it's not really important what a thing is or can do because the only thing that's relevant is whether or not said object in question moves the story along in a meaningful and productive way. Case in point, a player needs to take a journey...if they're on foot, it's a relatively long and dangerous; if they're riding then it's far swifter and only troublesome at best. Any details regarding the steed is purely up to the player...it could be a horse, or a dragon. The only time stats or attributes are assigned to a particular thing is determined by whether or not said subject has enough impact on the story to warrant specifications. Reskinning Assets will become second nature - I created a Druid with the ability to influence the weather. I couldn't find an Asset to adequately represent said ability...so I reskinned LIghtbearer and called it Stormbringer using the same Asset mechanics regarding energy acquisition (requires meditation out in nature), using weather related abilities to influence outcomes (spending energy to increase chances of success) and (of course) the ability to call down lightning powerful enough to smite a dragon (albeit only outside and above ground). I have used this gaming system to emulate the following genres: The Matrix, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Star Trek, High and Low Fantasy, Superheroic, Victorian Gothic Horror, High Stakes Espionage (rife with political intrigue)...I daresay you could use this system to write a Young Adult or Romance novel. Once you get the hang of the rules and the overall system, the problem won't be where to start...it'll be where to stop because you're the author - you decide when the story's done. I advocate this system for anyone who's played other gaming systems and wished for something more, and/or to any freelance writer who's stuck in a rut because this system will help break through even the most ardent writer's block.
Very true, the system is brilliant because of its simplicity, yet also very hackable/adaptable to other settings.
