Thanks for the video! It was a good refresher on how to make a character! We used to play on Roll20 when 13th Age first came out, and now we are going to be starting a new campaign in Fantasy Grounds.

Just picked up the 13th age humble bundle this last week, and I’m loving the new smooth jazz content! Keep up the great work!

I picked it up last week, as well. Looking for a group to play with but so far no luck

So... Funnily enough, I feel like this game is a little too close to D&D for my liking, particularly in terms of resource management. And to be quite honest, I'm not impressed by the "One Unique Thing" mechanic. My DC20 players have essentially created this thing entirely unprompted. This is a completely natural creative reaction when creating characters. It's the kind of thing you think of when creating a class with its race.
That being said, I'm still open to buying this book. Because there are a lot of really cool things in here worth stealing for other games. I'm a big fan of the icon connection. I understand that I can homebrew this to whatever fits my narrative. But it's such a cool little mechanic to make your PCs feel more significant to the story and world

I'm incredibly frustrated with how complicated the character creation process is in 13th age. This game is supposed to be suitable for players of any experience level, but then the very first thing the system wants them to do is this confusing. Thank you for making this video, it will be very helpful to me when I eventually need to walk some players through all of this.

One thing I appreciate about dnd is all the resources online for making it easy to make characters. It's great for my players who aren't into the crunch. How easy would you say it is to make characters for a new player?

If you play online, I'd say it's pretty easy. On FoundryVTT it does all of the math for you, so all they have to do is look at the class they link and pick out powers, spells, etc. You don't have something like DNDBeyond for 13th Age, but my experience running it with new players has been pretty smooth.

Great content. About to start a game with FoundryVTT, but because the players are new I like the idea of writing this all out first manually and going through the steps as an aid to learning the system.
