Amazing video and overview of the game! You really went in-depth and I can tell you read the primers thoroughly. And by all means, show the art! It's no problem. 😃 The Doomsayer's Section includes a part about 'Running for Beginners' which averages out the armor value for all types btw, which might be an interesting optional rule for you and others who are not fond of the differing values per 'damage type'.
Well, that can't really happen in Blood and Doom. IF you die, a Spirit called the Munagi will come to take your soul and you can choose to cling to your life of you want to. The Munagi will materialize and your party members actually get a chance to fight it. You can't keep doing this forever as standing your ground like this will deplete your life essence, but it makes for a cool mechanic so Players who would be sitting idly by in other TTRPGs can still have something to do. It also avoids simply losing your Character because of a Setback.
Just a note: Conan exists inside the Lovecraftian universe, it is very Call of C'thulhu in its own way. Yog, the god the Cannibals worship is literally 'Yog-Sothoth' from Lovecraft, 'as worshiped by a primitive people'... Also, this is why the Magic in the Conan setting 'corrupts' you with Hallucinations and the like, you know... Insanity due to knowing too much. Lovecraft and Howard (writer of Conan) never met in person but were Friends-by-Correspondance, having communicated quite a lot about their writings.
That's absolutely true. And the Conan gods are really the same Lovecraftian monstrosities. Both Howard and Lovecraft were definitely inspirations, but we did make sure to create our own mythology as the Cthulhu Mythos - much as I love it - has been done to death and we wanted our own extradimensional entities to come up with!
@@dirkvandereyken2312 Heh, Lovecraft opened up the world to write Lovecraftian stuff to the community, nothing requires all the same gods to be used or not, it is usually fun to mix it up a bit. It is a whole bowl of, well... madness, and isn't that what it should be? I think so. ^^
@@zephodb I wholeheartedly agree! Personally, I've been playing CoC since I was 12 or 15 years old, and it's still one of my preferred TTRPGs. I also love what Pelgrane Press did with Trail of Cthulhu and I actually kinda liked CthulhuTech...
I’m hesitant to start a discord for Polyhedron because I’ve done it before for my other channel Binge Watchers, and I just wasn’t a good enough community manager, and when I felt I needed to step away from that channel that community felt abandoned (rightfully so). So I’ll first see if I grow this channel before starting that, I can recommend some good servers though!
Great presentation of what seems to be a great game! I am backing their KS campaign because of this :) Keep up the good work! Or stop suggesting great games. I only have 2 kidneys (for now)..
Yeah I noticed they even have a lot of the same keywords. It looks pretty cool, but I really love the Conan 2d20 game, in spite of it's faults. The art is really excellent in this game, and the world building seems neat, I do love the sort of science fantasy hostile alien world genre.
