I can confirm. I separated 2 eggs from their yolks. Added some coconut oil. Used a milk frother (handheld, uses 2 AA or AAA batteries) until it reached mousse consistency (~2-5min). Used like I would mousse from the store. Except I didn’t worry at all what I was putting in my hair. My only worry was if it would work. It does. Only thing I’m going to do differently: use premade egg whites from the carton since it should be pasteurized & beaten (bacteria killed). Edit: also I’ve been told there’s no smell. No residue. When I applied it, I made sure my hair was damp but not dripping, so when I added the egg whites mousse, it wouldn’t drip everywhere from my already dripping hair. So make sure hair is just damp. Also, despite no residue, if I touched my hair excessively after it dried with egg mousse in it, it would give off fine white dust? So just don’t touch your hair too much after it dries.

I have naturally wavy and thick hair. As long as I keep it moisturized and tangle free it will be wavy. Bought this D3 brush to get rid of the tangles.

Egg white is a great protein lick treatment for all hair types. Im not sure why people use dry shampoo, haor straitners and chemical agents, but are too scared to use some of the healthiest and most natural treatments known to humans

I think the curl typing system is flawed and misused. While I agree that many people overtype their hair… I think you are doing the opposite. And the fact is… there is no one here who can say they are a specialist in curl typing… because this is not a science at all! A person is not curly or wavy. The curl typing system unperfectly describes the shapes that hair can take. And many factors can affect that. One person can also have multiple curl pattern. Its a non-sense to tell people that they are not curly of everyone have been calling them curly for over 30 years. That being said… its true that many girls with wavy hair who get a few curls sometimes are not at all representative of very curly hair. I have both curls (undeneat) and waves on top and the difference is real. With proper styling, I can get ringlets on the top. But these will fall flat with time, while the curls underneat gets curlier… back to factory default! I prefer “loose curl” for hair that do get loose curls, including ringlets and waves. Thats closer to the truth than wavy or simply curly.

Hi Jordan, I have 2a - 2c hair (still transitioning) with good lift & curl at the roots, and a few loose ringlet curls in the underneath layer. But the top layer hair tends to straighten out at the ends! Instead of "finishing out" the curl, it looks messy. Any idea what could cause that? When I saw how your ends finish out in pretty round curls, I knew I had to ask you 😊 Thanks in advance!

I'm way lazy with mine. I just wash before bed, detangle, put up in a twisty bun with a scrunchie, and go to bed. In the morning I finger style, and put in a few drops of oil.

If you “discovered” you have wavy/curly hair, you don’t have curly hair.

Can you make a video with accurate hair typing? More information on how to properly type hair would help this issue a lot.

If you curl type on unstyled hair I think a lot more people would really have wavy instead of curly hair type.

Just popping back in to say that even though I don't entirely agree with you (I actually don't even bother using Andre Walker's system at all for the most part lol, it's too complicated for me so I just say wavy), I still 100% respect you and your viewpoints that you've made very clearly and articulately here. I personally advocate for just saying straight/wavy/curly/coily in the colloquial sense of "it has waves or curls or coils in it or not" and don't get more specific than that (unless I'm in a hair-specific space ofc), but I have shared this video numerous times and will continue to do so. You're one of the most knowledgeable people I know about wavy hair and really helped me in my wavy hair journey (especially in steering me away from CGM, so thanks multiple times over for that!) Also really respect your work within Curlfriends Facebook group if it's okay to mention your other life here lol

I'm very thankful that you made this video because it's something I've been saying but people don't seem to want to hear me. It's funny how if you tell someone that they're overtyping they'll get upset but at the same time if I was to call my 4a hair 3a because I have "ringlets" lol everyone would be coming for me and telling me how wrong I am lol. Maybe I'll just start saying I have 3a hair now and when anyone calls me out I'll just say it's not a big deal who cares? Malicious compliance.

I disagree with what you're saying about hair pattern being a bigger factor than porosity and hair thickness when it comes to choosing products. I know someone with extremely coarse straight hair that actually needs heavy products. Meanwhile I have a friend with curly hair (mine is wavy) who actually needs lighter weight products than I do because her hair is fine, and mine is medium. And just because people struggle to understand porosity, doesn't mean it's not a major factor that determines what kind of products we need.
