I haven’t had much luck this summer. My hair has just been looking droopy. By the time I figure out my summer hair, it will be autumn. 😆 I recently got the Ouidad gel on sale and I think it’s really nice. It’s not as sticky as other hard hold gels I’ve tried.
I love that you used a shampoo bar! You're the only curly, wavy I've seen do that. I bought Viori shampoo and conditioner bars. Used them a few times so far. Not sure what I think. Trying to move away from plastic bottles.
I love a good split hair test!! I agreed with all of your comments about the results. I was cringing when you used so much of the Curlsmith. BEEN THERE! 😂 But I just finished a full sized bottle. It lasted me a year and a half! I need very little of it to get great results, and even less in the winter. I dilute it in my hand to help spread it because it's so sticky. I'd love to see more videos like this if you feel so inclined!
It's all a learning process... which you proved! Good job, Jordan! 🙂 Love your honesty. I hate that producty feeling, too. I've been playing around with ways to get my hair wavy the way it naturally is without products. I'm about there! I'd give my wisdom, but my hair is different from anyone else's, so what works for me probably won't work for you.... Everyone needs to keep that in mind at all times. Great video!
A better comparison would be with the hydro flexi jelly or the shine jelly from Curlsmith, which are a more meduim hold and closer to ouidad though i think those are closer to the ouidad stronger hold gel (red label). The in shower style fixer is a very hard hold gel, level 10 hold, but also does have some heavier oils that are better suited for more coarse hair textures or higher porosity hair that needs those moisturizing ingredients. If you do like the Ouidad gel, I also suggest trying their stronger hold one as its still very similar but may give more longevity to your hair.
I'm not sure this was the best comparison because the CurlSmith In-shower Style Fixer is their hardest hold gel and the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Gel you used wasn't the Stronger Hold version. It was really interesting to see those two side-by-side though. I've used all three and find the CurlSmith is the most difficult of the three. (It also gives me EXTREME flash dry, so I have only used it a few times.) It's best if you add some water to it and emulsify really well before applying. It gave me a super hard cast I also had trouble scrunching out and, like you, I saw that even two days later the clumps were still held and I had less movement. The Ouidad gels are my hero products for humidity. I buy them by the liter when they are 20-25% off on the Ouidad site. The original, the one you used, is my normal wash day gel for summer humidity (that's like April-October in central Texas). I didn't bring it with me on a February business trip to NC and it wound up raining and my winter gel did not manage the humidity well at all. I use the Stronger Hold version on days my hair can't fail, like when I'm delivering training to a room full of corporate people, job interviews, photos, etc. It's not as strong as the CurlSmith In-shower Style Fixer, but offers more hold than the original and helps with the elongation issue without freezing the hair into unmoving clumps. :) In the winter I can use almost anything and get good results, so my winter products are often drugstore mousses and gels. Not using the Ouidad all year also helps bring the price down some and makes the liter bottle last a year. Living in Georgia humidity, you may want to consider a small or medium bottle at a sale price for special or occasional use, the way I use the Stronger Hold.
Thank you so much for the information, that was absolutely perfect. Like always, I absolutely love watching you. Thank you again for your honest opinion.
I have yet to find a good gel for humidity! I've been wearing my natural waves for about a year and a half now, but I still feel like it's transitioning because it just doesn't act right. Or either I'm doing it all wrong 😂
Lol! Not transitioning, hair and humidity are just tricky 😅 I really like Ecoslay orange marmalade, but it’s a bit out of my regular budget and I’m almost out
Almost anything works on my hair when humidity is low or medium, but the Climate Control gel is my hero product whenever the dew point is over 59 degrees.
Yes I have, I used it in my video copying her hair routine a little while ago :) It’s not my favorite, but I don’t think it’s bad. I usually use it now for slicking down flyaways, but I should maybe give it another whirl in a full routine :)
@@JordanFaith Oh, I didn't see that one. Sorry. I'll have to look for it. She uses a mousse after the gel, half way through drying. I have used it, too.
@@JordanFaith I was thinking about trying Ouidad's gel. Curlsmith's looks too much even for my hair type. I appreciate you testing them out & doing a video of it.
Let me know what your favorite anti-humidity gel is! ⬇️
AUSSIE Instant Freeze❄☃️❄
@@debraparsons2618 love that one! 🙌🏻

@@brendakeaton8474 I totally understand. I feel the same way this summer!
I love the Ouidad. I bought a travel size too, to try it. And it's my new favorite.
Definately think the ouidad looks better. Thanks for taking one for the wavy team and comparing these 2 products
Thank you!

I’ve been wanting to try Viori :) as well as Vida bars and HiBar, but I’m not sure when I’ll need or be able to get another
Never used a shampoo bar, but would like to try it.

Wild what a difference one product can make!
It really is!

I’m more interested in the shampoo bar than the gels 😉 your hair looked shiny with the ouidad gel.

I'm using that Ouidad shown here with Harry's Sculpting Gel on top this summer.
Have you tried Biotera gel? Curly Suzie uses only that & she swears by it!

I'd say Ouidad, but mine is a red bottle....supposed to be stronger hold. I love Curlsmith too, don't do this to me Jordan. 😕😂
Can you comment on the smell of each of these products? I can't do strong smelling hair products. Thank you for the video.
