The New Purple Martin Perch for the Troyer Gourd Face Plate. After many years I have finally come up with a much better perch. Very easy to put on and take off. The attachment is made to be weather resistant and UV protected. I still use a wooden dowel, because it does not conduct heat and is easy on the birds feet. My Shaver handle got really Tacky - rubber handle was breaking down - Shaver worked great. Called Norelco - they told me I was SOL. So - it's OK to spend my money on their products - but the cheap product design isn't worth a return. So - I felt it was time to REACT to the lousy Customer Service. Cardinal bird feeder repair modification

Common hanging bird feeder, from WalMart, etc. Perching areas are too small for larger birds, like Cardinals. These added perches allow the birds to have more room. This works. 4 dowels are added, that are 3/8'' round, and 13 inches long. Just tie wrap them on, and you are good to go. Been using these for years, and the birds like the added space.

There are hardly any Honey Bees on this Clover. 50 years ago these flowers would be covered up, and you could hear the bees. There are about 6 Bees here.

Purple Martin Heath House modification ventilation was done, because the house gets TOO HOT HERE IN TEXAS. Late in the season - Late June, the metal house just get too hot for the last youngsters fledging. Venting these houses is the only way to save them. This does seem to work. Porter, Texas 2018

I have trouble keeping sparrows out of my martin houses. They are territorial. How to keep them out?
I ordered 28 of these a couple of months ago from Mark and the PM's love them. I have a Gemini two tier gourd rack with 24 Troyer vertical and horizontal rack system and a trendsetter house with 4 Troyer vertical gourds hanging below them. I love that the product has a flexible material that can be shaped and tightened using pliers for a good tight fit. I haven't had any come off, but you can pull the perches off for cleaning. It even works with the Troyer gourd bird trap for sparrows and starlings. Mark was a pleasure working with and I received the perches within the same week. I am very pleased. Just email him.

These perches are the old version. He has an easier updated version of the perches that are even better! Such an easy and clean way to help the martins hang around their gourds more. Birds love them!! Mark was a pleasure to work with!!

Just got my perches yesterday and will be installing today. They look great and definitely appear to be very long lasting. The dow rods are even sanded smooth with rounded ends! Definitely recommend.

Are you sure it would matter which wire is which? Seems if they’re both the same color that it wouldn’t matter.
Just a suggestion, when you’re filming. Slow down, try to be steady , allow your audience have the tie to focus on what you’re showing. The camera takes longer to focus than the eye… your goal should be good context. You’ll get more likes if you’re film is easy to watch… I’m not saying this to be ugly, but in hopes to be helpful… you have a beautiful yard…

Beautiful garden I raise monarch butterflies too here in ft Lauderdale.
Sadly, I have not seen many Monarchs this season. I see a huge drop in Butterflies, Honey Bees and Bumblebees.
@@manko717 yeah luckily the monarch butterflies stay here all year round we have more sulphur butterflies then most places

So I hear the fan from the inside work but not the bottom and it is not cooling. What do you think it is?
If the bottom fan is not working, that’s the evaporator coil fan. You can replace it, or it could be a relay that runs the fan.
Really nice garden! What exactly is hummingbird bush? I'd like to plant some.

Where would one find a hummingbird bush? Also, my milkweed is covered with yellow aphids. Ive tried yellow sticky paper, neem, crushing them and NOTHING works. Any advice would be most appreciated! be mostcwelcome
Firebush Hamelia. Your nursery should have them. Don’t worry about the yellow aphids. They are had to control. You can spray them off with water. Other than that, not much you can do without damaging Monarch eggs, or caterpillars

Plant as much milkweed as you can, plus hummingbird bushes. Habitat destruction around our area and exterminators spraying and fogging yards are killing everything. They are using Pyrethrin and probably Malathion. We have no honey bees left or bumblebees. Hardly see a butterfly anymore. Our bushes used to be covered. The bird baths were ringed with honeybees drinking water, in the afternoons. Now, I see one!! Where is the EAP. These chemicals are killing everything. It’s horrible

Go ahead and get some mature plants, also. They will seed and you will have more. When the caterpillars strip the plants, leave the plant alone, it will grow more leaves. Very neat to watch.

I assume that's common milkweed. It's the only one that spreads by rhizomes. That looks like a rhizome colony. They can be difficult to contain in an open area because they grow laterally underground. But that shouldn't be a problem in that area. They'll have to stop at the walkway. Nice!
It seeds out. But a good late freeze can wipe a lot out.

They want the model number of the fridge. If it’s a True, look in the upper left inside of fridge. It should be 7 numbers, upper left, just right of something like GDM-12

Yes, you were fortunate to have experienced seasons with them. Most people have no idea. My grandfather build houses and had them on his place.

Beautiful Garden! Do you let all the seedpods spread on their own. I just have two plants now. Some with seedpods floating in the air and the other ones are still closed. Do you spread around the seedpods that are ready.
I do capture the milkweed seeds, now, when the pods break open. I’m spring, I put the seeds in pots, cover with a little soil, and grow the babie milkweed. Then I give them away or plant more in garden. They grow really well. No need to germinate. The seeds to really good. The hummingbird bushes always push off shoots. We dig up the small ones and replant or give them away. I get more milkweed doing the seeds myself. Mother Nature is always going to do her thing, too.
Mark, I was trying to replace the thermostat but the old on in the unit is "Danfoss/077F1311RU" cant find it anywhere. It is not the one in the parts manual. Can you help. Also, the old part has 3 connections (1 White-2 Pink). Thanks.

@Mark help please. Mine is cold but is freezing my drinks so I am hoping is my thermostat but the weird thing is that my thermometer states 38 degrees so maybe it’s bad..
Thermostat needs to be replaced. Put a decent thermometer in there. I Oder them off eBay. Taylor Thermometers. I buy 2, so I can check with both. Great the fridge gets cold, but you don’t want it freezing. Not good for the unit. Unplug it and order a thermostat. I think I included the information to order in my video.
You can get two Taylor Thermometers for less than $10. Tgey are nicr

The weird thing is that only some of the drinks freeze I would say like 5 glass sodas out of 100 that’s in the unit. I am still going to replace the thermostat it won’t hurt any. I back off the temperature knob to 5-1/2 from 7 and put a new thermometer will check if it makes any difference in 24 hrs..
More than likely it’s fluctuating. Not good.
Hey Mark, I found out last fall the tunnel and push pin on the TVG/THG leaks very bad. Water pours in the push pin, I put some lexel silicone around the tunnel and top push pins and it stopped the water. If you go to UA-cam (Purple Martin fanatics) it talks all about it.

@@manko717 I had one pair last year trying to rebuild from losing my small colony in 2006 sitting on the patio today, just one pair this year' a cooper comes out of nowhere and hits the male, i saw it and he did drop the martin, about 100ft from me, as i ran down towards the male,the Cooper flew and got him, broke my heart, only pair I have, 5 babies in Troyer vertical gourd 19 days old, mother is trying her best to feed them... before that happen, a first year male was making lound noise, I wonder if the Cooper heard him. Check the shroud around the fan. It’s made of like a cardboard material. You can pull it out of there. Sometimes the blades hit the shroud. You can pull it all out from the back side. Unplug it first. Then plug it back in, after you pull out that cardboard shroud

What do you mean, how do I place them. I have 18, 3 levels of 6. I have 2 Horizontal Gourds on each level, on the straight arm. Breaks it up a little.
You have a gorgeous garden!! I have asked a few monarch UA-camrs this question but haven't gotten an answer. Thought I'd ask you. I have had monarch Caterpillars twice so far. Some have gotten pretty big and i watch for them to make a cocoon but for some reason one day they are all gone. Could birds be eating them?
No, birds do not eat them. I’m not sure what is happening to them. My Monarch usually go up the house and cocoon under the eves. Keep trying.

So sad, the Texas Freeze, February of 2021, killed them all. We cried. There were thousands of blooms, getting ready at the time.
They are subtropical. Really cannot take a hard freeze. We lost them all after 13 years, with the one week freeze, Feb 21. Devastating. Heartbreaking
@@manko717 I saw your video yesterday and was amazed many of those plants are still huge like that in the ground and in Texas. Since everything died in the freeze would you do more container gardening? To be able to bring them inside.
