Purple Martin Bird House Perches for Troyer Gourds - Custom Modification

Custom Built Perches for Purple Martin Troyer Gourds - the Martins were sitting on the thin plastic above the entrance, and had nowhere to sit, if the platform at entrance was occupied. This was especially apparent during feeding, last year. The Idea was to give the parents enough room when feeding or one parent, a place to rest and observe, as the other parent was feeding. as the young get older, they will push out onto the porch, and the Adults need room. The perches were an immediate success, as the Adults took to them right away. NOTE: I would not put them on until the birds have settled into the gourds and have eggs. This will keep other birds from settling in, and the Martins do not nee them until later anyway. I found this wou

These perches are the old version. He has an easier updated version of the perches that are even better!
Such an easy and clean way to help the martins hang around their gourds more.

I purchased a set of 12 and my Martins love them because now they can perch over the door openings. when one Martin is on the porch the mate will often go to the perch. Thank you Mark for making me a set. I have 2 older telescoping poles that I plan to upgrade to the Troyer systems. I will let you know when I’m ready for more perches. Judy in Hope Mills NC

Look at Video Part 2, with the Purple Martins using the Perches. Date Correction is June 21st, 2016, not July 21st.
