  • Date Correction - June 21st, 2016 - Purple Martins using the Perch Modification that I manufactured for the Purple Martin Troyer Gourds. The birds took to them right away, and as the babies fledged, the Adults have had room at the entrance. They enjoy being able to move around near the entrance. The perches also allow them to stay near the entrance, while preening. Also, they love to clean their beaks on the wood perch, rubbing them smooth and clean of debris.

    These are great perches for the Troyer Gourds. I purchased a set of 12 from Mark and mounted them a few days ago. They took to them right away and I see they do like to be close to the door. I believe as the babies start to fledge they will get lots of use. Thanks again Mark. Judy in Hope Mills NC

    I'm looking forward to attaching the perches in a few weeks. Mark made them for me, good quality and he kept me updated on the progress. I can highly recommend these! A happy purple martin fan in Byron Center, Michigan.

    Hey Mark, I found out last fall the tunnel and push pin on the TVG/THG leaks very bad. Water pours in the push pin, I put some lexel silicone around the tunnel and top push pins and it stopped the water.
    If you go to UA-cam (Purple Martin fanatics) it talks all about it.

      I am selling some. This last week, people emailed me, and wanted some. I have to make them myself, so it takes at least a week. Email me at: manko54@hotmail.com.

    How did you connect the vents on the lids? Did you use silicone caulk?

    • @manko717
      @manko717  2 роки тому

      Drill the holes a little smaller, so you can screw them into the plastic. Then just use a silicone to seal it. I like to point the vent down, while the cap is screwed onto the gourd. I number all the caps and gourds. When you put that cap on, it’s always in the right position.

      You can use any size pvc vent elbow you want. Use the elbow with the threaded fitting ( male ). Tap it and screw it in.

    Can they work on the PMCA excluder gourds?

    • @manko717
      @manko717  3 роки тому

      Doesn’t look like it. The gourd does have a porch on front. You would have to figure out how to attach a perch under the front edge of the deck. Maybe drill through the deck, on the left and right front edge, then tie wrap the dowel, so it is secured along the front edge, underneath. It should stick out on both sides, giving them a place to perch. That would work. I would make it stick out about 3.5 to 4 inches on each side. That should work
